12v battery in the trunk. If you take care of your Prius right it should last many years. My original 12v battery on my Prius lasted 8 years before it started going bad.

Your 12v battery is used for all the conventional electric components like interior and exterior lights, radio, dash, navigation, horn, mirrors etc
