Strawberry Moon: A Sunset Hike in Eugene, Oregon

- This is the story of two sunset ascents of Spencer Butte: June 20, celebrating the Summer Solstice, and June 21, to experience the strikingly beautiful Strawberry Moon. The Spencer Butte Trail, on the southern edge of Eugene, Oregon, is a scenic, fairly steep classic Oregon trail through old growth forest to a rocky peak with views in every direction. There were dozens, possibly a hundred, at times on both evenings, taking in the Solstice sunset and simultaneous moonrise on the first night, then the full Strawberry Moonrise on the second night. It was certainly big, bright and a bit reddish as you will see.

Fun hike and a beautiful location . Was there in the Summer of 2021. Took us about an hour to get to the top and about 20 to get down. Maybe go there again someday.
