- August 13, 2017, after 14 years of entertaining guests, Shrek 4D has officially closed its doors at Universal Studios Hollywood.
An all-new Kung Fu Panda show will be replacing the attraction in the newly themed DreamWorks Theater which is expected to open in 2018. - Zábava

I remember first going to universal around 2007 when I was about 8 years old and being absolutely terrified of most every attraction. Shrek 4D was one of the only attractions that I enjoyed that day. This brings back so many memories :(

@TheGogirl127 I don’t think the ride itself was scary, but the Stone Dragon with its glowing red eyes, and the fact that Frank Welker voices this character is something that creeped me out a lot. And it’s shooting massive spire balls too. Probably the scariest looking character in the Shrek franchise.
@@beazrich2.017I thought it was scary😂But that’s cuz When I was younger(like maybe 8-10), the only rides I willingly wanted to do was the despicable me ride and studio tour. I was too scared to do any other rides, and shrek 4D only because of that spider part😂
Last year I came back to Universal after like 8 YEARS of not going though, and I’ve tried out wayyy more of the rides(Simpsons ride, forbidden journey, flight of the hippogriff, pets ride, Kung fu panda, Transformers the ride, and Mario kart) and realized that they aren’t too bad, and I find myself considering the more intense rides of the list, being Transformers and forbidden journey, as my favorites of the park. Just goes to show the natural progression of ride immunity.
This ride will forever be in the book of nostalgia :’(

Say what you want about the quality of the attraction, but knowing that Shrek is leaving Universal is gonna hit right in the nostalgia ):
lets not forget that its still up in Florida and Singapore and japan and WB movie world in Australia and movie park Germany and those shrek 3D dvd's and you can watch the show in 2D on Netflix
but its not the same

It’s the stone dragon that scared me the most. Nothing more scary than having a statue of a dragon that comes to life and has glowing red eyes, looking at the camera directly at you with a smirk on its face and also being voiced by Frank Welker. Also, I was caught off guard when it popped up right behind them and shot the largest fireballs and it’s able to fly? By far the scariest looking character in the Shrek franchise.

Shrek deserves a spot in Universal but this ride was getting old. Hopefully Shrek can return somehow in the future. With the new Dreamworks Theater, any Dreamworks film has a chance to show up there. Maybe Shrek can get a new film one day.

I went there when I was 5 or 6 I was looking every where for this I always remembered the donkey sneezing scene and the water spraying and thinking it was real boogers
One time I found a 2D version of this on a Honey Nut Cheerios box back in 2012. I still have it to this day...

Loved that ride. It should have gotten more applause or more fans there. That was a pretty sad fan reaction ending to a great ride that will always be remembered😪

I was actually in the same exact last show and the same room in this video and I was able to experience the last showing of Shrek 4-D in person and it was an amazing experience and now many years later, I was able to watch it again! thank you for posting this! it was an awesome video!

Last time I went to Universal Studios Hollywood, Harry Potter was still under construction, and I still haven’t gone back since then, now I regret not having ever gone back.
Last time I went to USH was in 2019 for Horror Nights. I recommend Harry Potter it's a fun ride

I went on the new Kung Fu Panda attraction earlier today. Not all the effects were working yet but the short itself is not anywhere near as entertaining as this. It's also about half as long.
Not sure what it was like before, but I was impressed with what they did with having the walls part of the show for a bit. Fight scenes were alright, not great but not bad either. But yeah it just wasn't as entertaining as this one, and it did feel shorter too.

Hearing the shrieks of the audience during the spider part will never be not satisfying.
First time I went under subtraction was since 2013 when I first came to Universal I never took much pictures because my parents are too lazy to understand physics.
