Also went to Catholic school for years. I can confirm what she is saying is correct. Our old nun was old even when my older sibling went to the same school before me, and years later we returned for a visit and she was still walking around and very mentally sharp. She did look slightly like a pale, habit-wearing Yoda though.

I’m from a town with 95% Italian and a nun slapped me across the face in Grade 1 for not speaking my own language ( Italian) then saw my mother in the afternoon freckles and fair and realised I only spoke Australian 😂
So I'm from the same city as her... Belleville, IL and at the barber shop I go to on our Main Street downtown, is where she used to get her hair cut. The main barber said to me once while talking about OITNB "You know Boo's from here, I used to cut her hair all the time. She's just like how she is in the show... Except more butch, but the funniest god damn person I ever met. If you ever meet her, ask her about the nuns!"

That story about turning in the lyrics for "A Hose With No Name" as homework assignment was hilarious.
My friend did exactly the same thing when we were told to write a poem... He wrote out the lyrics to "Frozen" from Madonna's Ray of Light album and my English teacher read it out to the class as an example of a great poem (he was also very old and didn't know pop culture). We all burst out laughing and we had to basically tell him what was going on.

I always think back and wonder (or know) whether this teach or that teacher or.. that old bus driver or that old lady you always bump into at the market is... alive. Kind'v morbid but people live n die.. just odd how you don't ever think of someone for years and years then figure they're not around any more. that fragment of your inner monologue or memory just exists as.. memory. and old images in 2 or 3 peoples family video album. food for thought!
I have that feeling sometimes too.I don't think about someone for years and then they randomly pop into my head and sometimes they are old school classmates and teachers that I won't ever see again and wonder how they are doing after all these years and hoping the old teachers I had are still alive.I will never know though because I don't live in my hometown anymore and forgot most of their names.
