Nungwi is a village at the northern end of the Tanzanian island of Unguja, familiarly called Zanzibar. It's known for the wide, palm-lined Nungwi Beach and a nearby boat-building yard for the production of traditional dhows. The Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond shelters green and hawksbill sea turtles in a tidal lagoon.

Yes, there are rooms for couples. It just happens that on the day we visited the hotel, they were all occupied. Check their website for further information

I wonder if lotions and sunscreens seeping into the water will affect the health of the turtles? I will speak to the them when I visit - I think that's the point of the channel. Lol. Hey, is it possible to go back the Arusha route on the way back? What happens to the logbook someone leaves at Lunga Lunga? And I didn't catch how much it costs to rent the vehicle in Nungwi?
Yes it is possible but the route is longer if you want to return to Mombasa. If you will return using a different border, just tell the Customs at the border and you will be given back your logbook. The car costs $35/day

I don't think Essque Zalu means anything in French, it is just the name of the place. Maybe you are confusing with Es-ce que ... which means "Is it that.." as the beginning of a question, in French. ie "Es-ce que tu es fatigue?" ... means literally "Is it that you are tired?". Roger.
