  • In this video I show I install a CTS Turbo high flow catted downpipe on my 2014 BMW F30 335i with the N55 (Electronic Wastegate)! Mine is a 2014 so it has an electronic wastegate that requires a 4" downpipe. 2013 model 335i's have a pneumatic wastegate that has a smaller 3.5" downpipe. However, the process for installing either downpipe is pretty much the same as I demonstrate in the video. Just make sure to do your research and get the correct size downpipe!
    NOTE : I am not a professional, certified mechanic, or an expert. I do this as a hobby in my free time. Perform this job at your own risk!

You had one of the easier installs. I heard if you use more washers on the O2 sensors you could eliminate the check engine light from activating.

    I really struggled getting the v-band clamp back on the top of the cat. Once I finally got it seated, I bought a longer bolt to start clamping it down. Once it was snug, put the factory bolt in and torqued it down. Almost gave up and took it to a shop.

    Sounds great thanks for the instructional video I can’t wait to get my downpipe.. maybe for a video before doing an axle back exhaust try a resonator delete. I did the resonator delete and it sounded better, not a huge difference but kept that stock exhaust note and added some burbles and a little deeper sound.

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  Před 3 lety +2

      That’s actually a great idea. I might do that instead. I wanted to keep the ability to open and close the valve while also having a moderately loud exhaust sound. If it sounds good enough with just a resonator delete and Downpipe, getting a whole new axle back exhaust would be pointless and expensive for me. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Did you end up getting a check engine light at any point? I'm considering going with a high flow catted downpipe on my B58 powered F36, but I'm afraid of getting the CEL. My car has the 355hp MPPSK package on it already, so I don't want to spend another $500 on a tune, just to clear a CEL and only gain a few more horsepower in the process.

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes it ended up popping up the next day. Yeah you’ll probably still get a light even with the high flow Downpipe. But I thought the B58 gets a pretty significant power increase with just a Downpipe and tune? Way more than what my N55 would get.

      @alfrede.neuman8611 Před 3 lety +1

      @@InlineSixAuto I'm sure it does. With the MPPSK (Power and Sound upgrade), the power goes from 320hp/330tq to 355hp/369tq...which obviously isn't as much as a lot of the aftermarket tunes, but still decent enough that I can't really justify spending another $500+ on an additional tune. Especially considering how smooth the car still is with the BMW tune. I was really just hoping I could add the catted downpipe to the mix to compliment the MPSSK for an added "boost" in power and sound, without giving the ECU a fit.
      I've heard that running a spacer behind the oxygen sensor can prevent the code....but I've heard mixed results?

      @@InlineSixAuto I've read that the CTS catted pipe will often throw a CEL; they make no claim that it won't which is why it's so much cheaper than others, but where I live there's an annual emissions test and if there's a CEL, it'll fail. Which tune did you use? I've got a 2014 N55 as well, mostly unmolested. Mostly. I was planning to do Bootmod3 and do the FMIC, CP and catted DP ( I hate the stink from catless and those are highly-illegal in most parts) at some point.

    I warn you guys for ever buying from CTS turbo. My downpipe did not seal properly against the turbo since the flange was warped during manufacturing. This is hard to detect and will cause o2 reading issues. Also one of the nuts was welded shut and did not fit. The downpipe flange itself is also much thinner than stock, which will cause less clamping force against the turbo. After I contacted CTS it turns out they are real scammers with no support. They don’t give a shit and don’t answere phone calls. I wish I would have read the reviews before buy. It seems a lot of people has issues with them, ended up costing me a lot of money and work. Never again….

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  Před 2 lety

      Sounds like you just got one that wasn’t made properly. That’s what happens sometimes when you mass produce. I’ve Had literally zero issues with mine and it’s still fine after a year. And haven’t seen anyone else besides you now have any issues with theirs. Not saying they handled that well though if they didn’t even offer a refund or something

      @@InlineSixAuto are you sponsored by them or something? Check the reviews, people have litterly returned parts without getting any refunds. No answeres on phone calls and when you email them they just refer to their policy at the website which force you to pay the return shipment (huge amount if you ship over seas) despite i sent them clear photos and movie of the issue. Your pipe is most likely leaking as well. The problem is the thin design of the flange and the way they are welding. The flange is really warped near the ”bulge outtake) and makes a big gap on the final assembly against the turbo. This is really hard to see when it is assembled.

    • @InlineSixAuto
      @InlineSixAuto  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Manuelo1234 No I am not sponsored by them. but Every single performance part I have is from them (FMIC, Chargepipe, intake, Downpipe) and I don't have a single issue with any of them. And no it is not leaking. My car is running just fine pushing 400whp with their high flow downpipe with zero O2 sensor issues. I did a pretty good amount of research on people's reviews on their products and I hardly saw anything bad about the products themselves. If I did I wouldn't have went with their products. Though that was over a year ago so maybe they lowered their product quality after my purchases from them? Now their customer service is another thing, I haven't had to contact them because I haven't had any issues with their products. So I don't have any say on their customer service quality. But their products are just fine, at least the ones I got. Just because you had a bad experience with them doesn't mean everyone does.

      If you compare the thickness of this flange with a stock flange you will see the difference in thickness and understand why there is a big risk buying this pipe. If I knew this from the beginning I would never gambled with that money.
