Really good idea Ron. The Smart Work Station continues to be proven as an extremely versatile tool, especially for those with limited space or someone that needs to bring their whole workshop to the site.

I remember my grand father had his jig saw mounted up side down in a frame like that, made it very handy.

Love your content! Consider making the plate for the scroll saw the same dimensions as your router table insert plate. Then rabbet the edges of that piece to fit where your router plate goes..

I considered that. The plate I have could be cut down, and then the edge could be rabbeted to drop right in. I opted for the undermount to allow more mounting options, but if I keep it where I have been using it, then I may go ahead and modify it. Good thought.😎🤙

Great idea. Love the versatility of the system. I work on a lot of old houses > lots and lots of scribing. I could imagine mounting the saw at a slight angle, safely and accurately cutting to the scribe line and then creeping up on line with a block plane (or maybe good to go as is). Looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks!

It also gives you a chance to use the whole blade, not just the teeth closest to the base.

I want to see a solution for making the OF 1010 router a fixed tool as well. Does the router insert for your system accomodate the festool router?

Sure as long a the plate fits the router of your choice any plate will fit the PSRT.

What if you need tighter bends.? Thats more of what a band saw can do, not a scroll saw...IMHO

My world and channel are centered around home building and remodeling. I don't specialize in tight scroll work; that's more of a hobbyist's tool. What I use suits our needs perfectly and performs well, without the necessity of purchasing, storing, and transporting another tool. While a band saw would be sweet, it's a large tool and not very portable.

For larger curved cuts, ok but for what a scroll saw is made for ,can’t compare it. So calling it scroll saw don’t.

I made a $15,000 table for free! I already had the $4k worth of materials, and my labor doesn't count for anything.

    • @TheSmartWoodshop
      @TheSmartWoodshop  Před 2 měsíci +1

I with you on not counting your labor for personal stuff, but $4k in material is real money. That table cost you 4K imo, but I bet it is beautiful one.

@TheSmartWoodshop that was my point. My sarcasm needs work. Although it was a hell of a table.🤑 (And no, it wasn't a damn river table!🤢)

OMG guys.. I recently had someone come to me and say.. Guess what man??
I’m setup bro I’m making cuttin boards.. yeah bruh look on CZcams everyone’s doing it.. then he continues to say after that I’m makin River Tables..
Then he says what you selling.. I let him know I sold a Window Valance last weekend and put about 200 in my pocket. He said sounds boring and low profit.
I said you sell a cutting board yet? He just walked away so I don’t know..

Additionally I see CNC’s pop on CL 2 to 3 times a week in Jacksonville Florida..
      So there’s that too..
Making money in Wood is easy..provide the utility people need for tasks around the home.
I made most in closets .. built ins .. window dress up. Paint n wall repair..
People get sucked into not making money by thinking they can just make a thing a people will flock to buy your thing..
PEOPLE NEED THE UTILITY OF SERVICE YOU CAN PROVIDE.
I recently built my Paulk System. I work faster and much more organized. Stress much lower. Outcomes much better.

I'm just don't get it. So you mount the stupid thing from under the table, thus limiting the blade's ability to cut to the least stable cutting portion which is near the tip, and that is a good thing? It kind of makes no sense.
