    Cloud had a crush on Tifa all throughout their childhood. That was why he said he would always protect her and one of the reasons he wanted to become a SOLDIER.

    This is so sad... Especially when you pay attention to Cloud's body language. Heck, even Tifa's to an extent. Cloud does not look at Tifa at all (Maybe indirectly) in the scene. Tifa's eyes widen at Cloud's name and Cloud stiffens at the comment of "a hero saving the girl". You can even tell that Tifa is upset when Cloud says he doesn't know her. They've both got body language to support their emotions. A well done scene.

    I liked the story in dissidia because in FF7. Cloud is guilt with A and Z's death and couldn't forgive himself in advent. In this one, it's like showing what if 'tifa died' unlike A's death he is not driven by guilt and he misses her like crazy in Cycle 13. Questioning his reasons to fight because he feels in his heart that he just lost the person most important to him in the previous cycle.

    So y'all obviously haven't played FFVII, but here's why he's sulky: *SPOILERS*
    In FFVII, Cloud loses some of his memories, and Tifa is the one who helps him put all of the pieces back together. She is his anchor.
    In this, Tifa is the one who has lost her memory. The tables have turned. And now they're being forced to fight each other by powers beyond their control.
    Like come on, that's his woman, of course he's sulky.

    • @sakuracardcaptor4709
      @sakuracardcaptor4709 Před 7 lety +18

      You obviously have not really played ff7. Aerith is the one who genuinely wanted to help cloud because of her she helped Tifa father cloud's memories together while Tifa throughout the majority of the game tried forcing cloud to believe he was a soldier and despairingly denied the truth which messed up her fantasy version of him that he was not. In short, Tifa LOVED the "Zack persona" in Cloud while Aerith told players time and time again she was over Zack and loved cloud for who he was and not something she wanted him to be which was Tifa's case. So no Tifa was far from being cloud's rock I suggest you play the game the right way and try to pay attention the characters and scenes.

    Cloud only acts like Zack due to a psychosis that caused him to believe he and Zack where the same person.
    The subtlety that most fail to grasp about Cloud's journey is that in order to find himself, Cloud had to relive his past and sort the fake memories from the real ones.
    Cloud did this by turning to the one thing that stayed constant in his life and defined his person:
    His dream to impress Tifa by becoming a soldier. It was the reason he looked up to Zack in the first place.

    I so agree with you. If you played FF7 in ps1 A actually saw the 'real' cloud hidden behind his soo called 'ZACK-MAKESHIP-personality'. On their so called date, she said 'I'm looking for you and I want to met you'
    Because she feels Zack's personality on Cloud. But she fails to put him back because she really didnt know him only Tifa can bring the true cloud back to himself.

      @Kosename yup. He was infatuated with Aerith due to the confusion of taking up Zacks mantle. It might've felt real to him at the time but it was before he remembered who he actually was, a country boy from Nibelhiem that forgot about his childhood crush, Tifa. For disagreers, see the maxed out Tifa affection under the highwind scene. Clouds broken so it's hard for him to have two feelings inside. But HIS true feelings are for Tifa. Zacks is Aerith. It truly is a conflicted bittersweet tragedy.

    • @LygarZeroX
      @LygarZeroX Před 4 lety +2

      the feelings were real. even if his persona of his was fabricated from being imprinted by Zack because of the mako poisoning and trauma, he still felt those feelings. The thing about final fantasy 7 is that there never was a 100 percent set course and you can date anyone. You could say that Barret or Yuffie were his true love. While the only one you could have implied sex with is Tifa.

    • @DutchDread
      @DutchDread Před 4 lety

      @@LygarZeroX Well, it depends on how you define real, our language isn't made for these types of odd scenarios. The feelings themselves were real I guess, as in, ZaCloud felt them. But if they're based on a lie and a false persona it can be argued that they're not really Clouds, or are at the very least artificial and less than genuine.

    To answer your question, Tifa was on Cosmos' side during the 12th cycle, which was the only one that she was involved in (found in the Character Files). Like the other warriors of Cosmos, they have absolutely no memories of their past, original homeworld or the people that they knew (the only exception were Yuna, Kain and Jecht since they were involved in the other cycles). The warriors of Chaos, however, have full recollection of their past since they won every cycle until the 13th.

    To put it simply The Dissidia Series has nothing to do with the original games story wise.

    The FMV doesn't explain much except Cloud thinks he can find Aeris in the promised land, with Tifa right after saying "yeah, let's go meet her", as in them as a unit. With what just happend in the highwind, It makes sense, as Tifa is confident in her relationship with Cloud.
    The kicker though is that Tifa is the only person where Cloud explicitly states to have feelings for, and he does this at the end of 2nd disc, after all the shit has already happened. And the ultimania confirms all this.

    As opposed to Tifa who actually knows something but keeps quiet for her own motivations and reservations. Key point, both are interested in and act (or don't) due to their relationship with him.

    So... if we look at this from the Dissidia history, Cloud retains all his memories because he was on the winning side of a previous cycle. Correct...?

  • @iTooob
    @iTooob Před 12 lety +1

    Well if you analyze the scene where Tifa wanders around Cloud's subconscious, he clearly state that the reason he wanted to be like Sephiroth was to impress and be noticed by her, which allows us to understand a lot more about his emotions and actions. IMO his main motivations were undoubtedly connected to his whole childhood trauma, which happens to have a lot to do with Tifa.

    naw man i understood the game very well. Tifa obviously had strong feelings for Cloud no argument there, but cloud was more interested in Aeris from my perspective. but i now believe the writers wanted the player to decide because there are subtleties on both ends. cloud only ever mentions to Tifa that he has feelings for her once, after she had poured her heart out onto his lap near the Highwind. there are multiple occasions where he refers to Aeris as "WE", "US", and "OUR"

    No, the battle must end eventually. There where two possible conclusions.
    One. Chaos would be destroyed rather than simply defeated in a particular cycle.
    Two. Chaos gathers enough strength from the cycles of war to tear a rift in space-time back to the world he came from. As intended by Cid of the Lufaine.
    The game takes place in another dimension. It could all happen at any time in, for example, Cloud's story, yet Cloud doesn't remember it and it has no bearing on the story of FF7.

    They were called by the other side that's why and they don't have their memories. Cloud regains his memories in this game, the prequel to Dissidia, hence why he refuses to fight Tifa here. Cloud later fights Chaos alone for Tifa's sake which touches the leader of the other side who agrees to let Tifa return, after she's defeated in this game, and picks Cloud as her Champion for Dissidia.

  • @celsiustear8526

    I can't say I agree 100% with that. Clouds actions and personality traits were heavily influenced by Zack in the original game. Towards the end of FF7 Cloud will have more random bouts of introversion, but he's still trying to separate himself from Zack's memories at that time. Note that Cloud was naturally quiet...and a bit awkward. Even in FF7 he seems predisposed to the idea of never involving people in things he felt were his problems.

  • @Chayraz2

    I think you can predict the plot point "The good guys win".
    There isn't really much to spoil. Dissidia is no LOTR it isn't even cannon in any of the characters respective chronologies.
    The close the crack the mannequins spawn from, but lose the cycle in the process. The remaining warriors return in the next cycle to gather Cosmo's fragmented strength and move to eliminate Chaos and end the cycle forever.

    I think Cloud's real personality is what we saw in Crisis Core, he was cool af in this game, in the original FF7 he was basically Zack, and afterwards he is just messed by the previous events.

    Cloud didn't start doubting himself until later on in the game. And even then, his dramatic flop in his persona didn't happen until Advent Children. As soon as Cloud became mopey and depressed, he immediately switched from being one of my favorite character to one that I couldn't stand. And why not? Other characters had no problems staying confident and positive in Dissidia.

    The conclusion is that in the original FFVII game, Cloud romantically liked both Tifa and Aerith. However which way he swayed more was up to the player. That's why you have the date mechanics AND two different highwind scenes. I don't why player's choice has to be such a bad thing.

    @MateusFolletto Final Fantasy Dissidia 012: Duodecim. Also known as Square Enix's love letter to all their fans. I don't know why this game didn't get much coverage though, I didn't know about this game until like 8 months after the first one came out (You can play through the story mode of the first installment once you finish the new campaign, so there is no real need to buy both games if you were considering it)

  • @kibuki91
    @kibuki91 Před 11 lety +1

    Well, in the story of FF7, he was pretending to be like Zack throughout most of the game. And after finding out the truth about his own memories he became more like this (when shown in Crisis Core, he was really shy and upbeat, not arrogant and proud like when he was pretending to be Zack). The latest (timeline wise) installment has him more with ironic wit than anything in Dirge of Cerberus. So I don't really consider him a clone of Squall since his demeanor existed prior.

    @StickmanMakerr All of the characters were supped from their worlds at different times. Cloud was taken from FFVII straight so he doesn't really remember who he is and still has Zack's memories etc etc. But Sephiroth was taken from right before AC/ACC which is why he finds this all pointless since he knows he'll be reborn in either world no matter what. Like looking at FFIV, Cecil was taken after the game but I think before the sequal. where as Golbez was from the sequal since his hair is silver

    "Words aren't the only way to show how you feel" cue blackout plus Tifa's response to the gang next morning with "were you watching?!" implies something going on. This is in stark contrast to "were you listening" in the low affection one. They fall asleep next to each other in both versions, so you know something different happened.

    It was on an interview in Ultimania 10th anniversary. If you don't believe me, go to wikipedia, type in 'Cloud Strife', and ctrl+F:sex. It happened at end of disc 2 the night before fighting Sephiroth. The interview never specifically mentioned sex but it was intended to be of a risque, or mature theme. I can pm you the interview if you want. Honestly, it still surprises me people are still arguing about this. It's as if they want everything spoonfed to them.

    @skysorujaa I agree Tifa seems a bit "happy-go-lucky" but then it is her original game outfit so this is possibly the younger, 20 year-old Tifa from before Advent Children and possibly the end of the original game (at 22 she's a little more serious and matured).
    It's not especially pointing to anything romantic but the tension of "feelings" of some kind is evident. Cloud's being protective of her because he remembers her. Either way you look at it it's frickin' cute!

    I didn't mean the original game theme. I said specifically 'Rock n Roll' music. Sephiroth's closest match for a rock music theme, would be Shinedown's 'Sound Of Madness'. Cloud, 'Overkill' by Motörhead. Tifa...well 'Cherry Pie' by Warrant fits nicely, for her assets, but I can definitely imagine her voice singing 'My Favourite Game' by The Cardigans very, very nicely. Not to take the subject off these three, but for Terra Branford, 'Woman' by Wolfmother is definitely hers. Again, rock music.

    Cruel indeed. That's what's called drama.
    Writers treat their characters sadistically to create tension.
    They do get their memories back, and return to their original world to boot. Tifa, Vaan, Kain, Lighting, Laguna, and Yuna get to go back early, because though successful, they where defeated in their attempt to cut off the mannequins from reinforcements to give hope to the next cycle.

    Did you forget the whole lifestream event? The REAL Cloud had feelings for Tifa. If your affection w Tifa was high enough, under the highwind, they say their hearts were calling out to each other, they recipocrate their feelings, and it is followed by a night of something "risque". Everybody had something else they were fighting for, but Cloud and Tifa had each other? This was all in the original game. CC only illuminated on the events of FF. Sorry dude, but you're just wrong here.

    But KH II complicated things by making Tifa his light. You're right though, in KH he was searching for Aeris. I guess even the devs have trouble deciding on the two. Also, there's the whole ultimania thing where they had a section on romantic love and Cloud and Tifa were the representative couple of FFVII.
    I personally liked both, Tifa and Cloud just seemed more "right" to me. But we could go in circles over this and not reach an endpoint. Maybe it's best left to interpretation like you said.

  • @RealShurikenX
    @RealShurikenX Před 11 lety +4

    Aeris' role is also one of guilt for Cloud, she was the "innocent girl" who Cloud failed to protect. Literally everyone who dies in 7 Cloud blames himself as failure, whether they knew what they were getting into or not. Cloud stays away in Advent Children because he fears that with all the trouble that follows him, he'll lose Tifa too because he fears he doesn't have the strength.

  • @xxemzaxx
    @xxemzaxx Před 11 lety +2

    It was implied multiple times by one of the game's creators that Aerith and Cloud were considered canon.
    “Each carries their own feelings and love for Aerith. In this story, Cloud also carries his undying feeling for Aerith even to this very day…” ~Nomura, Square Enix
    There is a lot of other evidence from official SE works too? So how about you don't be so black and white about it? It is quite possible to have Cloud as a pair with BOTH, as circumstances change throughout.
