    I think my feelings on him are similar to yours Sean. I don’t hate the idea and I can see why we would be interested. I personally think that his quick feet would work well in our system. He also has aerial presence too. I can only see us getting him if we sell Richarlison, which is silly for a club of our stature. The most important positions for us to target for me are the DM and ST, with a full back cover who can play both sides.

  • @jeffstevens4262

    Solanke cannot possibly be a real target for us. We need someone who can deliver us 20+ goals per season. Solanke has no history of scoring anything like as much as he's scored this season, so completely underwhelming for me. I strongly suspect 'clickbait'.

    • @chriswoodley23
      @chriswoodley23 Před měsícem

      The home-grown issue is going to be a problem for the next few years. At least Spurs are kind of addressing it by bringing in Bergvall and Vuskovic next year at 18 so in 3 years they'll be counted as "home-grown at club" for European competitions (think a team needs 4 of these and another 4 just home-grown in nation) to be able to have the full squad quota. However, until then I think that means Skipp stays, maybe they'll even keep Tanganga for a back-up option at right-back/CB. I do think if Southampton don't go up, Spurs will also try to get Walker-Peters for £20-25m as he can play RB/LB and counts as home-grown at club for European competitions too. Regarding Solanke, I'd rather Spurs not buy anybody and try to get someone much better in two years instead and as Sean says, just spend most of the budget on a 6 this summer instead. Keep the powder dry for the year after and go for someone like Sesko instead. Despite the home-grown quota being an issue instead of Solanke go for Guissary at Stuttgart who has a release clause of €17.5m Euros and sell Richarlison instead and have Guissary take his foreign squad place

    I think you’re point Sean about the need for so many positions is why they’d look at Solanke, the squad is starting to show that it has so many holes in it imo. Ange got away with it for a while but now you can see the need for replacements. What I think worries me the most is the drop off by so many so quickly, is this just a reflection of the system and how taxing it can be or is it something else?

  • @barrymead8414
    @barrymead8414 Před měsícem

    I think the Richy comparison-stats wise is a reasonable one and if anything Richy has been a bit more consistent in the PL and I think most fans would be happy to trade in Richy for a better striker. That in itself raises the question of why go for a player that's isn't
    However there is a further point and that is Solanke has done well this season in a team that are not facing the numbers of teams we have faced this season who defend deep and just rely on counters. Normally the final third is congested there's little time or space. Could Solanke thrive in that kind of situation weak in week out.
    All things considered I wouldn't want to take the gamble that he might and there are a number of potentially better options that could be gettable, maybe for more money but better to pay a bit more than go for the cheaper option on the basis that going forward he might find more consistency in his PL goal scoring and that he might do it against much tighter defences with less time and space than he has been getting at Bournemouth

    Sorry but Solanke is just bang average and not going to take us to the next level. If we are serious about challenging in next few seasons we need to start signing elite level players. No point buying lots of average players - you will get average results. Pay more in a few positions and improve the squad. For me, we need a quality striker because we have definitely missed Kane. A very average signing - We were told that moving in to the stadium would be a "game changer", another lie from Enic.

    Is this the Levy "masterclass" Propaganda that you've been peddling for the last 12 months. STAY WOKE GO BROKE

    Werner Solanky, lol it’s just what Levy did for Harry Redknapp.
    I’m gone I suggest any player wanting to win something. Get out of Tottenham

    It looks to me that Solange has come into his own under a more progressive manager and supportive team. Keep in mind that a set the world alight player is between 80-100+ million, so if he ticks most of the boxes it might be the right price, right player and right time. Sometimes the risk is worth taking as the 'quality' striker shootage is real.
