Been using the Beta 18 for a few days now on a iPhone 15 Pro without any issues so far. Love the new Password App so much easier. And I like being able to lock out my Amazon App but getting easy access with face ID.
Just installed. Favorite is ability to launch desired app from action button. I use remote to control my TV, and quick access to it is great. Also, ability to customize control center. I can make it less cluttered and have quick access to my hearing aid control app, which is very valuable to me. Thanks for greta summary.

I’ve taken the plunge. Math notes on the iPad has been consistent, sometimes getting calculations wrong. The handwriting feature has also been inconsistent. Looking forward to the AI features on my new iPad Air.
I can wait till it comes out in the regular release but I’ll tell you I’m hopeful about the ability to adapt control center. As a hearing aide user I have been angry at Apple for a long time for making go through so much tapping to get to the settings for how my HAs connect with my phone. There is something currently in the control center but it is nearly useless to me so I’m hoping I can make a shortcut to the functionality I need! Thanks as always for your helpful videos!
Highly informative as always, many thanks. An Apple rep has told me that in iOS 18 it will be possible to apply a passcode on the Settings app. Can you confirm whether this is correct? The reason I ask is because I have a 7 year old son who I have set up in Family Sharing and I want to stop him from going into the Settings app. Currently, you can only set a passcode in Screen Time which stops changes to some things but does not stop changes altogether in Settings. It seems crazy that Apple has not in the past plugged this security hole regarding children.
It became available from AT&T yesterday afternoon (7/17). I backed up my iPhone and upgraded last night. I'm just going to start examining the iOS upgrade today and see how badly I can mess up my phone. 😂

Do not install it if you think you may not like it. You risk data loss if you try to go back. In fact you risk that with beta installs anyway. It should not be installed on your every day use device.

You state that if a device runs iOS 17 it will also run iOS 18, at first I assumed you were going to only going to talk about iPhone based on this however I see you did mention the iPad a few times. Therefore I feel I should point out that iPadOS 18 will not be supported on all iPads that support iPadOS 17, for example my old iPad Pro 2017 runs iOS 17 but will not support iOS 18. Do you plan to made a video specific to iPad or is this something that perhaps should have been mentioned also? Aside form that another great video ☺
Hello. Great changes! What about the files app? Sometimes when I try to save something from an app and file it in the files app, the files app option doesn’t show up! My Dropbox location and OneDrive are some of the options, but the files app option is missing. I have told this to apple support and they know about it. Why aren’t they updating this obvious bug? Hope you could push on ! Interesting to hear from you.
I don’t install betas. I’m old fashioned and remember the days when software developers employed teams to test and refine new releases. I’m not doing it free of charge for them.

No mention of RCS?! Most significant new feature for those in the US. Now we can message most Android users with delivery and read receipts and exchange hi res media
they're adding the passwords app to all devices. It replaces the passwords section from the settings, and combines your authenticator app for 2fa with your passwords manager for everything (wifi etc). hope this helps!
I think it is solid for a beta OS plus my brand new iPhone 14 had a weird terms and conditions page prior to installing 17.5.1 from a Verizon partner store fresh out the box. It had a http unencrypted url on the terms so I was skeptical to install it. Contacted iOS support and they told me it was not normal to have that http address or the terms and conditions but ran the serial and said my device is official apple property. So I wonder who or what installed a possibly fake update into a brand new iPhone 14 fresh out a carriers partner store? Any way I skipped to beta 18 and installed the official apple 18 beta and gained 10gb of storage back from the previous iOS version! Be careful out here when buying phones from certain carrier partners who serve retail public. Some skeptical business practices going on. This wasn't the carriers fault either their partner stores may be up to no good
The new photos app is such a dog! Super bloat. Also why can I create smart albums in Apple Notes and view them across all devices, but only on the Mac with Photos?
Where are the real updates? 1. Scroll from right to left with your thumb? It makes absolutely no sense that Apple didn't fix it years ago!!! 2. Why can't you decide when an SMS should be sent/timed? 3. Why have a back arrow at the top when using the thumb at the bottom of the screen? Why doesn't iPhone show the notifications on the notification bar? 4. Why on earth do I have to go all the way into settings to set up my camera? It's something to rave about! However, make it about Apple, so that you can set the camera directly in the App! I'm going from a Google Pixel 8 Pro to an iPhone 15 Pro, but I'm close to going back to an Android phone. Computing power, the efficiency of the operating system, processors not losing half their power 2 years later, continuity within the ecosystem of tech all working off of each other, tech such as iMessage, AirPlay, etc. Yes, Apple is “behind” in freedom features. But actual tech, they aren’t.
iOS 18 worst thing. I had to revert back to 17. Apple feels the need to change the photos app layout for no reason at all. Most confusing app I ever used. Change the photo app when nobody asked and then don’t even think about adding a way to lock the phone in landscape mode 😂🤬

I am already on the beta program, but didn’t realise I had to switch to iOS18 first (because it wanted to download an iOS17 beta first.

you will need a pc and a backup u have made before installing beta if you dont have the backup all of your data will be lost
if you havent made an backup, try saving your important files and photos to your icloud/any storage unit exept iphone

The only issue I have encountered so far is copying then pasting into an Instagram post or comment.

Having bug issue with the beta 3.5 🥲 nav bar disappear and the animation is auto offed even turning the motion option on and off doesn’t work .

The passwords app is useless. It has tons of old passwords that are no longer valid. And it keeps telling me to change passwords.

"If it runs IOS 17 it will run IOS 18". This is only true for iPhones. Some support is being dropped for older iPads and iPad Pros.
