No Tidus wasn't Shuyin. Shuyin was part of the real Zanarkand 1000 year's earlier before it was destroyed by Sin. Shuyin tried to use Vegnagun to destroy the Bevelle army so that they wouldn't attack Zanarkand to save his lover Len, but Len urged him to stop as he was activating Vegnagun & they reunited one last time before they were both shot & killed. Tidus was in the present dream Zanarkand, I have no doubt that Shuyin would've been to. But Shuyin would've been one of the first inhabitant's of dream Zanarkand when it was initially created 1000 year's earlier. Tidus is basically descended from Shuyin, so Shuyin is Tidus Great Grandfather from a millenniam ago; it explains why they are so similar.

If Shuyin had been part of the Fayth that formed Dream Zanarkand instead of dying in Bevelle, the Tidus we meet probably wouldn't have existed as Shuyin's own memories would've formed him as he is.
@@veggieeater I feel like they knew most people wouldn't care about it the moment they discovered neither Lenne nor Shuyin had anything to do with Tidus and Yuna. I know I am one of them... Which is why this game was pretty annoying to complete for me. They hit you with the cliffhanger in the credits of X, you dive into X-2 right away to see what's going on, they hit you with what looks like Tidus in a jail cell and halfway through the game they just tell you it's not Tidus... At that point I couldn't give a fuck about the story. Not to mention I finished the game at 99%, so I had to look at the true ending on youtube.

It's explained that Tidus is the "dream" version of Shuyin because, let's not forget, the Zanarkand that Tidus came from is a dream version conjured by the faith based on the real Zanarkand. Which is why they look and sound the same. Lenne was a summoner when the war first started so that's her small connection to Yuna. I loved their connections to the main characters and their backstories. I just wish we had a lot more of it and that 100 percenting the game wasn't so hard and missable.

Due to the influence of the Songstress Dress-sphere, Shuyin could only see and hear Lenne instead of Yuna. Yuna could likely feel Lenne's feeling for Shuyin due to her spirit residing in the songstress dress-sphere and thus having an influence on her.
this was literally the scene my PS2 wouldn't get past before it showed me the infamous "cannot read disc" screen. it literally was about 10+ years ago. this is the first time in 10 years I am playing FFX-2. 10 years have passed and Spira is still the same. ❤ lol
idk. i kind of think Yuna might have related to Shuyin. she was willing to die, but never willing to sacrifice someone else. but instead Tidus essentially takes her place. did they really stop the cycle or just start a new one? and then having to watch a bunch of people waste the sacrifice Tidus made by continuing to fight must have been infuriating. maybe that's why the "fates" thought it would be better to bring Tidus back, to ensure that all debts are paid to start a new beginning. or maybe i think too much.
What is known about shuyin is good, or it is bad.... Someone knows and they can tell me. For me Lenne is a nice and very good girl, and above all I also loved shuyin very much.
Finally when shuyin had to be defeated then he realized that yuna was not lenne., It's more like it's like yuna was Lenne's spirit or something. And then the two lenne and Shuyin finally vanished together.
Honestly the story of this game is solid in a vacuum. If you could take out the "sequel" from it and turned it into a standalone FF game, it likely would have been praised as one of the best in the series. But people cannot separate it from FFX. That being said, I actually think this game is still great, and would have been beloved by FFX fans had they just done a few things differently. For one, the only ending to the game should have been the sad ending - The one where she gets to say a final goodbye to Tidus in the Farplane, but has to accept that he is no longer there and cannot exist ever again. That would have played into the ending of FFX perfectly even with the secret ending it had because his swimming in that scene could easily have been his afterlife. Forcing that ending would also have been significantly more impactful and emotional. It's just sad they kinda bitched out because japanese fans loved Tidus x Yuna way too much :\

I still think FFX is one of the best FF games. I replayed it a few years ago to do all the extra stuff I was too impatient to do as a kid (that chocobo race to get Tidus’ ultimate weapon got me so angry and took me forever 😂). I felt back those emotions I had as a kid. I remember myself in middle school talking to a friend about Tidus and Shuyin and I started crying because the whole concept was hard for me to understand and I loved him and Yuna so much. I didn’t like X-2. I think trying to get 100% was super rough because you could have restarted with that same percentage obtained and still not know what you were missing unless you followed a guide closely. I had to watch many of the scenes on CZcams. I loved the musical performances the most. I loved Gippal 😂 I think the concept of Shuyin and Lenne were interesting and wish it was further explored (I read a fanfic a long time ago about their lives back then leading to the war and thought it was a cool perspective). I think a prequel would have been better with Jecht. I do think it’s just because the game itself as well as the gameplay wasn’t all that great. I’m happy that Yuna and Tidus reunited but didn’t care about all the rest as much.
If I remember correctly, you have to press a certain button while running around to trigger the whistle. Unfortunately I haven't played in years, so I can't remember how to trigger it exactly, but look up a walkthrough. I believe it counts towards your completion percentage.

It's scenes like this that convince me that the ending with Tidus returning was just tacked on in order to please the fans. Game should have been about Yuna coming to grips with what happened and her change to become more of a free thinking person. The endings where Tidus returns just blows that out of the water and makes it into "How Yuna got her man back."

the final fantasy x-2 game is great... but there are parts of the game that are difficult to do.. In one of the part of the game... we must face, those three sisters... And the truth is that it is difficult to defeat the Three Sisters .. In the game I have a monster... and with that monster I moved on... and now those three sisters give me trouble and defeat my monster... and then I have to start over. Those three sisters together are very strong. If there is luck and one of them is defeated, we are fine. But as those sisters attack and attack the monster I have... Well, that's it... Again back to start again... to fight again Against those three sisters...
