  • This is my thoughts on character kit complexity after delving into each one. There is a lot to discuss here and any opinions are welcome.

    Hey man, you kinda just appeared on my suggested home page on CZcams and I got intrigued by what you had to say, I wanted to agree and disagree with a few things with your statements (as a Genshin, HSR, and wuwa player and a gacha player overall);
    If you don't mind I will start from where you did with Anby: yeah! a great good base kit that the game has like the "Hey I am here as your back support in case you can't stand on your own!" type of base character even with its own uniqueness, as you stated it allows them to fill in the gaps of just a base unit.
    As to make a point on your point with the kit comment (without the other 2 examples you mention), the game will over time have more of its own identity with its kits and characters, if you want an example look at HSR. With how all the 1.0 5 stars and 4 stars have gotten power crept (other than like a few) they're good base character kits that overall balanced the game at the start if you had gotten them, but as the game grew and gained it's owned identity with kits like blades, Acheron, and Kafka it started to gain its personality towards how it sees characters.
    With Soukaku, it is one of the more complicated kits that ZZZ has so far, but it doesn't mean that they are truly complicated, as with all the "meters" and all the things she brings to the table, may I say that Wuwa does that but almost 2x more with how they have their ults, skills, intro and outro skills, along with their stacks to do a bigger type of damage. With a max of 3 characters on a team. Yes, some people don't like it and won't use the character if they had such complexity towards stuff like that, but it is necessary as a baseline for the devs (in my opinion) to see how the player base acts towards complex characters and how they function on a team. The fun factor is what I would say is "personal bias" as I personally like more complex stuff and once I get it, I feel accomplished about it.
    Now next with Koleda: with the Ben combos that would be dedicated support towards her in the kit alone, as that is fine looking back to another hoyo back to HSR, we have Seele and Bronya when the game came out until Sparkle came out in 2.0 (but that is beside the point) where Bronya and Seele where so joined in the hip to each other that Seeles demo trailer was also Seeles at the same time as she doesn't have one of her own.
    Overall: With combos of the game, we are starting to get to the point in genshins combat where most characters don't want to use their full NA combo chain and use a unique one like one of the more recent characters Arleechino where most people don't use her last Normal Attack as it takes up time so they do a Charge Attack on her second to last Normal Attack chain. So with the combos over time, people will create their own and implement them outside of the "dedicated combos". But in reality, just wait until the game has its foot through the door for them to get more creative with the kits, and as the game goes on the more niches they will make as well as use for the characters with how people enjoy the combat. I find it similar to another hoyo game Honkai Impact 3rd, with how similar it is in combat and its exploration mechanic. But I think I could talk about that at a later time.
    But in a personal review, the game will succeed just fine with or without the combat impacting it as it is a Hoyo game. But I think you made great points and a good video overall!

      I trhe recent livestream (the ZZZ x Street Fighter talk stream), Hoyo pretty much confirmed they planned the game to be a easy and simple entry in the beginning and they will likely ramp up the difficulty/complexity with later patches in the future.
      Like it feels strange how Miyabi is the only character with some more complexity while the others are all a bit more bland. Its all planned to give new players an easy entry into the game in the beginning.

      @@ScarletMusicz Ah I see, I didn't watch the ZZZ x Street Fighter live stream. But yeah it's a bit weird but it also makes sense since it's the similar type of combat like HI3 and not a lot of people have played it

      Yeah the examples here aren’t perfect. I’m not a huge fan of having two characters that need to be together either. I was more on the wavelength that Koleda has some built in skill expression and variation with the Ben attacks. But I would prefer if Ben just added more attacks and was not required for her best damage. The good thing is compared to say Seele and Bronya. If you get Koleda you’ll probably already have Ben.
      On the game as a whole it doesn’t surprise me that kits will get more complicated. I pretty much assumed that based on Ellen. I just personally find it more enjoyable when characters skill expression is utilized with new abilities rather than hidden buffs and meters. At least for the most part. I understand the necessity for some characters to have hidden meters as supports. Overall its just the growth direction I would prefer for the game. Thanks for the comment!
