- A solemn appeal to all my Adventist friends. There is a video circulating on the Internet about the Catholic Bishop admitting that Seventh Day is the real Sabbath.
Although THIS IS A HISTORICAL TRUTH don't make this video represent something it really isn't. It has been edited and presented as a real Bishop making a real statement. Let's see shall we as Vincent Morton reads quotes from Catholic sources about which day is the Sabbath and who changed the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first.

What does your description mean by don’t makes this represent something it isn’t ??? I’m new to this questioning of why I actually go on Sunday and I’m now learning about Bible translations too and the omissions in certain translations.. so much to learn
@@whgua the video was widely circulated in a way to make it seem that this was a real Bishop. It is best to use the video as it was originally intended and let people know that this is an actor. Even though he is an actor his statements are historically true. Those using the video in a skewed way also negatively affect the truth of message. I agree with you, so much to learn. we can not believe that the bishop would say that the Catholic Church changed the Sabbath to Sunday. This is intentional lie for one reason. The bishop can not say anything on behalf of the whole Catholic Church. What he might have said was his own speculation or a citation from other sources. (The citation which can not be fully explained but taken in bits and pieces to advance some other people argument. It was taken out of context as educated people call it). And as educated people we should not take that for granted. Only the unlearned ones would take it literally.
Additionally, I wonder why people who observe the Sabbath day these days do not impose the fines that go with the breaking or non observance of the Sabbath which was written in the Bible? In Moses' days, it was DEATH wasn't it?????? Death was the punishment for breaking the SABBATH. Why do they not kill a person who ignites fire these days????. Because in those days even igniting fire was punishable by death. These days many people wake up and ignite fire. They may not know it but they always do it when they turn on the ignition of their car!!!! If you understand science, then you know that once you turn on the ignition of your car, you are lighting a fire. You are causing combustion to happen in your car. It is that simple act of lighting the fire in the car that causes the engine to run- doesn't it? Why were you not stoned to death when you start your car then?????
You might say that it is because of Jesus Christ. But was it ever mentioned in the bible that igniting the fire is no longer punishable by death because of Jesus Christ???
@@whgua That video is totally a lie, the church has ALWAYS had communion ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK.
These so-called teachers who study a little Greek on the internet know nothing and do not compare to hundreds of great men who have translated our Bibles, and that people by listening to these false teachers throw away all their hard work for the love of God and men.
The church is concerned about teaching its members and attracting new souls, sects like these are only dedicated to taking people from other churches, which is totally unbiblical.

Exactly, I denounced my Catholic faith, it was the best decision I ever made. Saturday is the lords day.
+Epic Gamer Experience While there are things I do not agree with the Catholics on, and that is about rosary, how they talk about saints and their definition of saint, the things about Mary, but I will give them credit that they are the one place that does communion every single service ( well, in a small town, they may not do the Blood part during the week if a priest is not present at the service, or anywhere where they have a weekday services with Catholic school students). I never thought of myself as Catholic, I was, and still am, non-denominational, but I cannot deny I did learn stuff from mass. So many public worships probably never do communion. Well, these days I won't even call myself "religious". Just spiritual, for religion is man-made, spiritual in context of being a Believer and having a personal relationship with Christ, and try to follow Him the best you can, is not man-made. If you are doing the best you can, in the end, it is up to the Lord, and not the preachers or whoever else. I mean, there are some people who can have the messiest of lives, but they may be doing more godly things or have a closer relationship with Christ than those holier than thou people. People say, look at someone's life, but a person with a tough life cannot always live up to the standard of those with an easy life. We just do the best we can under our circumstances and pray lovingly for those with brokenness in their lives, like someone we love, instead of prayers that looks to slam and condemn them. Then you got some non-belivers of Christ, they have more godly attributes than those who believe and claim to be Christians, but don't do godly things. They wear and treat Christianity as a title. I don't want to judge anyone, just offering insight.

Exodus chapter 20 lists the "Ten Commandments". But when Moses repeats the commandments in Deuteronomy chapter 5, there is something unusual.
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. ... For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

So the Fourth commandment in Deuteronomy does not mention Creation at all as a reason for the Sabbath. Instead, it talks about the exodus from Egypt. When did the Almighty bring them out from Egypt with a mighty hand?Â

It is well known that they left Egypt on the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread, at night. People today teach that the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread is different from the seventh day Sabbath. But here they seem to be related, or even the same. They are linked by the Fourth Commandment as recorded in two different renderings.
The Fourth Commandment in Exodus 20 clearly references the seventh day Sabbath based on Creation.
The Fourth Commandment in Deuteronomy 5 clearly references the seventh day Sabbath based on the deliverance from Egypt, which occurred on the evening of the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread.
The Israelites left Egypt on the day after Passover (the Sabbath of Unleavened Bread) and it was the "fifteenth day of the first month". (Passover is the fourteenth of the first month of the year.) When does the first month begin? It is the first new moon in the Spring. (All of the months in the Hebrew calendar start at the new moon.)

After reading all comments under this video what everyone is missing but some were almost on point is this:
Moses wrote 613 laws by his hand and those laws were the cerimaonial laws for the people and levites priest. Those laws written were put In a door on The side of the ark.(notice) out side on side. The Ten commandments were written by God himself on stone again,(notice) those are " His" laws. And those were put inside the ark along with Arons staff and show bread. The only laws that were fulfilled were the Animal sacrificial and ceremonial laws. As Jesus aluted to the pharases of teaching the commandments of men but not of God. For the pharases asked him why He,Jesus, doesn't ask his deciple to wash there hands. ("Commandments of men")
The laws of Moses were o the out side because it shows the distinction between God's law and mans law. Mans is not Holy and is secondary out side the scope of God's Holiness.

Only a relationship with Jesus that causes us to repent and turn from our sin saves us. I can go to church every Saturday and keep all the rest of the commandments and still go to hell

In Col 2:16., these sabbath days are feast days in which there were 7--this does not refer to the 4th Commandment's 7th Day Sabbath in the BIBLE. Those feast days were a shadow of things to come--each one represented an event in the life of Christ--He was nailed to the cross, on Nisan 14, the Passover, etc. The type leading to the anti-type, Jesus Christ.

I believe in my heart that many sincere Catholic will be saved. I also believe that God has sincere children in other denominations who will be saved.

Constantine the Great, emperor of Rome during much of the first half of the 4th Century AD, attributed his success as a military leader and ruler to his faith in the Christian God. The Sun’s day was a popular pagan festival for many centuries, Constantine made the day a public holiday throughout the Roman Empire and was later given a Sabbath characteristic by the Catholic Church at the 29th Canon of the Council of Laodicea in A.D. 364. Many denominations acknowledge that the Sabbath day is the day God commanded us to worship Him, they still choose Sun’s day and called it the Lord’s day.
Obedience to God’s commandments should be essential to all true believers. Knowing the truth, accepting the truth, and following the truth is the hallmark of a true believer in the Messiah.

Peter himself (1 Peter 2:4) calls Christ a living stone and in 1 Peter 2:5 addresses the Church as living stones. In Revelation 21:14 the names of the twelve apostles appear in the twelve foundation-stones of the heavenly city and in Ephesians 2:20 referring to the Church, “And you are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets (i.e., laid by the apostles and prophets), Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.”
We find that the Church is built upon the foundation of [ALL] the apostles and prophets with Jesus being the Rock and foundation stone. In the same context as Ephesians 2:20 we find that the initial foundation of the Church was laid by the preaching of Peter. So when Jesus said “and upon this rock”, He was speaking METAPHORICALLY. See Matthew 16:18 below and the Thayer dictionary definition for the Greek words used for both Peter and Rock. So the whole meaning of the passage is this: “I will make you the honored instrument of making known my gospel first to Jews and Gentiles, and I will make you a firm and distinguished preacher in establishing my Church.”

Peter was given the privilege of being the first person to preach the Gospel to both Jew and Gentile and so Peter opened the door to the first Church and why it was said that he had the keys to the kingdom. We will find that if Matthew 16:18 was not speaking metaphorically as Peter being the rock, then it has to be referring to Jesus Christ as the rock rather than Peter, which cannot be ruled out conclusively. Matthew 16:18 could be further paraphrased as follows to make its meaning even clearer: “Thou art a rock. Thou hast shown thyself to have firmness and strength of soul, and metaphorically like a rock and so suitable for the work of laying the foundation of the Church. Upon thee will I build it. As the great “I AM,” Jesus Christ was the guiding Rock who was with the children of Israel in the wilderness when they left Egypt (see Deuteronomy 32:4). Paul wrote: “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. Regardless of the meaning of Matthew 16:18 and who the Church was built on, the real issue lies in any authority given and who it was given to.
How could anyone really believe that God would allow sinful man to change and decide His laws that define sin and make up their own Church rules? God gave us His Holy Word for this very purpose. The fact is the Sabbath is the only one people have a problem with. Jesus summed up the commandments. Much in the way you say there's a dozen eggs, there's still 12 individual eggs. FYI He was quoting Leviticus and Deuteronomy when He summed up and if you reference those actual scriptures you'll see that they were stated after the individual commandments were addressed.
The Mosaic sacrificial and ordinances were on paper scrolls and kept next to the ark as temporary. That's right the bible states that exactly. The 10 commandment were written by God's own finger on stone to show is permanent. In fact, the stone was sapphire cut from the bottom of His throne (symbolizing the foundation of His government). Read about its description when they went up on the mount. That is why the priest had to have a blue tassel and the hemming of each opening on his garments had to be blue.
God does not change. Yet everyone wants to say that He keeps changing everything. That He changed the Sabbath. The very Roman system that started the whole Sunday thing even admits to it in writing and people are sill deciding that it's still right. It's beyond comprehension. The proof is literally right in front of everyone. The bible teaches that we'll be worshiping Him in eternity from one Sabbath to another... The Sabbath is the same day in the New Testament also. Not one scripture changes the Sabbath. The only way people get away with things is when they quote out of context or take creative liberties. So, Jesus is the way, the truth and life... - He also says His way is in the sanctuary... so learn the truth in the sanctuary process of atonement, which is basically the whole point of everything and why He died - to atone for our sins.

I grew up Catholic my whole life and even didn't want anything to do with any organized religion because I saw then the contradictions. I read the bible for myself and found that the only church that actually teaches the bible/sola scriptura is the SDA church- I am quite aware of the MANY hypocrites in the SDA church. But doctrinally, it is the only one that uses the bible only its creed and that is why I converted. Keep in mind that the bible is clear- there will be a falling away of many of God's people... and then many shep of another fold will come in (most of God's people are currently sitting in the other churches! @Joseph that's not quite right. Some laws are civil laws, only binding on National Israel. The ceremonial ones are mostly transformed in the New Testament. For example, circumcision to baptism, passover to Lord's supper. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb offered once and for all. So we clearly don't have to keep 600 plus laws
@Joseph God's law the 10 commandments is not the Mosaic law. All of the 10 sayings appear before the giving of the covenant and before the laws of Moses. If you did some homework you would see that all of our common law is founded on the decalogue hence Romans 13. So as Christians we should know exactly which laws are applicable.

@Joseph I study the scriptures from a Hebraic perspective because the Bible is written as such. Jesus/Yeshua would have also. WWJD? He would have observed the Sabbath as God commanded and Torah. And studying it from that perspective which I’ve been doing for fourteen years has enriched the Word more. I spoke to a friend today who studies the Scripture as well from the Hebraic perspective and shared with me a Jewish understanding of a verse we were reading. I rejected it and told him it’s not validated in Scripture and it’s a Jewish belief. So, I follow no one but my Savior and what HE would have done based on the Word.

The Old Testament gives us TWO lists of the Ten Commandments - one in the Book of Exodus and another list in the Book of Deuteronomy.
The Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the purpose of the Sabbath is to remember the Exodus - that is - the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. Jesus Christ brought about the true Exodus - the Exodus from sin and death - which the Old Covenant Exodus was only a shadow.
Paul tells us in Colossians 2: 16-17, that not only are the "ceremonial laws" a "shadow" but that the Seventh-Day Sabbath is a "shadow" also.

"Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed by Christ himself into the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper.
The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the altar of the wood of the cross.
A "shadow" is literally an outline on the ground or wall. A shadow on the ground is not me - I am the real thing - the shadow is only an image, an outline. So too, the "shadow" in the Old Testament has become the reality in Christ at his death and resurrection, which he accomplished on the First-Day of the Week - not on the Seventh-Day of the Week.
The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that the New Covenant is greater than the Old Covenant (Heb 8:6) - and that the New Covenant reality is made present in Christ Jesus - while the Old Covenant pointed to something greater to come - the fulfilment of the Old. The Old Testament gives us TWO lists of the Ten Commandments - one in the Book of Exodus and another list in the Book of Deuteronomy.
The Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the purpose of the Sabbath is to remember the Exodus - that is - the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. Paul tells us in Colossians 2: 16-17, that not only are the "ceremonial laws" a "shadow" but that the Seventh-Day Sabbath is a "shadow" also.

Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival (that's the annual Jewish feasts), a New Moon celebration (that's the monthly Jewish feasts), or a Sabbath day (that's the weekly Seventh-Day Sabbaths). 17. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.'
"Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed by Christ himself into the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper.
The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the altar of the wood of the cross.
A "shadow" is literally an outline on the ground or wall. A shadow on the ground is not me - I am the real thing - the shadow is only an image, an outline. So too, the "shadow" in the Old Testament has become the reality in Christ at his death and resurrection, which he accomplished on the First-Day of the Week - not on the Seventh-Day of the Week.

Whenever you see "the first day of the week" always keep in mind the 7 Feasts/Holy Convocations from Leviticus 23. There were 3 Feast Weeks that were mandatory for all Hebrew males (Exodus 23, 34 and Deuteronomy 16). The 3 were Tabernacles (Sukkot), Unleavened Bread and Weeks. Weeks was 7 Weeks of 7 or 49 Days. The next Day was Pentecost, Day 50. You mentioned Acts 20:7, this was the "first day of the Week" of Week 1 of the 7 Weeks of 7, how do we know that? Look at Acts 20 verse 16, we see Pentecost listed there. Another Verse is 1 Corinthians 16:2, same thing here, look at 1 Corinthians 16:8, there is Pentecost again. The most classic is after the Resurrection. Jesus Rose on the "first day of the Week" of Week 1 of the 7 Weeks of 7. First Fruits is Day 1 of the 49. He appeared for 49 Days during Weeks. Read Acts 1 and 2, count backwards from Pentecost morning, there is a Sabbath's Day journey (about a 1,000 yards) then we are at Day 49 at the Ascension.

The "first day of the week" means the first day of the week of week one of the 7 Weeks of 7, or 49 Days. First Fruits/Resurrection Day is Day 1 of the 49, Resurrection Day is the first day of the week. It is actually a Tuesday, the third day. I thank God for opening my eyes about the Sabbath to keep it holy. Now all my family says I lost my mind and I'm deceived. Despite them I still love them but I Love God more and I want show my love by keeping his commandments.

+George Aguilar Don't take my word for this, this may be my own personal theory, but I wonder if Jesus rose on Sunday instead of Sabbath because spices and embalmment was made for Him, so by rising on Sunday, the people who wanted to see his body and those who wanted to do the embalmment went to do so, but only see He has risen. I dunno, there could be any reason Jesus rose on Sunday as opposed to any other day of the week, but I was brought up by both parents who believe in the 7th day as Sabbath. Now, I did not know about the part about sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday until recent times.

I am a Seventh Day Adventist and it still makes me angry that one of our Pastors would put on a dog and pony show to get a point across. However, here is the point... The Lord God Jesus Christ in Harmony with The Father dictated with His own Voice and wrote in stone with His own finger the Fourth Commandment. No man, even the so called Vicar of Christ in Rome can alter God's Word! If it were not important, HE WOULD NOT HAVE STARTED THE COMMANDMENT WITH "REMEMBER"! We must read the whole of the Scriptures - the Old Testament gives us TWO lists of the Ten Commandments - one in the Book of Exodus and another list in the Book of Deuteronomy.
The Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5:15 tells us that the purpose of the Sabbath is to remember the Exodus - that is - the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt. If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Covenant is to remember the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt, then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Covenant is to remember the Exodus Jesus Christ brought about by His death and resurrection.

"Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed by Christ himself into the Body and Blood of Christ at the Last Supper.
The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the altar of the wood of the cross.
A "shadow" is literally an outline on the ground or wall. A shadow on the ground is not me - I am the real thing - the shadow is only an image, an outline. So too, the "shadow" in the Old Testament has become the reality in Christ at his death and resurrection, which he accomplished on the First-Day of the Week - not on the Seventh-Day of the Week.
The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that the New Covenant is greater than the Old Covenant (Heb 8:6) - and that the New Covenant reality is made present in Christ Jesus - while the Old Covenant pointed to something greater to come - the fulfilment of the Old. Jesus Christ, by His death and resurrection, brought about the true Exodus - not from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt - but the true and real Exodus from slavery to sin and death.
That is why Hebrews tells us that there is still a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is On Another Day - that is what Hebrews tells us - the Sabbath is to be kept but kept on Another Day - its right there in Hebrews.
Hebrews 4: 8-11, specifically verse 8, shows us its on "another day"
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
In addition - by Christ's resurrection on the First Day of the week - Sunday - Christ has brought about a New Creation - which the New Testament confirms - Christ Jesus IS the New Creation and He IS First-Fruits.
There are Sunday Sabbaths in the Old Testament (Lev 23: 9-14) called First-Fruits. God made the Jewish Feast of First-Fruits in the Old Testament to always fall on the Sunday - that is - the Sunday which followed the Saturday Sabbath in the week of Passover week - so Sunday Sabbaths are already given us in the Old Testament - and First-Fruits day is the very day on which Christ rose from the dead following the Passover Last Supper.
God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather every Sunday.
Christians celebrate and obey and fulful the requirements of both the Book of Exodus (creation - now a New Creation in Christ Jesus) and the requirements of the Book of Deuteronomy (remembering the Exodus from Egypt - now remembering the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death) by their Sunday celebration of the fulfilment and reality brought about by Christ on the First Day of the week - Sunday. Christians celebrate this on the day of the week Christ accomplished it.
In Christ Jesus Christians through Baptism have already entered the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb12:22) and sit with him on his heavenly throne (Eph 2:6) - they already participate in the eternal heavenly rest - and Sunday is a foretaste of that eternal rest - Sunday Mass (and every day of the week when we go to weekday Mass) we enter into that eternal heavenly community of the angles who forever pray and sing "Holy Holy Holy, Lord God of Hosts.." - this is the Mass - this is what the Mass is for - we don't have to wait for death and for heaven after death - we can come to the heavenly hosts and join with them in the eternal praise of God.
The Jews in their Sabbath keeping remember the week just past - but we Christians put God first in our week - by bringing everything we are and have, with and for Christ - Christ is the First and the Last - Sunday is the First Day of the week so we gather together to offer and give Him everything - and He gives us Himself - truly present in the Eucharist.
Jesus was Resurrected on Sunday. Jesus disciples first became Christians on Sunday and received the Holy Spirit on Sunday. The Lord God chose the Gentiles and filled them with His Spirit and said these are my people and l am their God. Jesus disciples now Apostle's with Gentiles, Praise and Worship on Sundays to Celebrate the Resurrection of Christ and receiving the Holy Spirit and not as a Sabbath Day. Sunday in the Bible is known as a Special day, Lords day or Holy day, if Holy Day was a Sabbath then God would have said Honour my Holy Day and not Sabbath day. Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament including the Old Covenant and law.

In the last book of the Bible, look at "who" gets to eat from the tree of life. "Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. (Revelation 22:14 NKJV)". Note the answer is "those who do His commandments". Last time I checked keeping Sabbath was the fourth.

Although, they are known as codes, statues and ordnances, they are laws. So it is with God if it was spoken to do, they are laws. Forget semantics. Here are real examples of Gods laws: A man should not wear women' clothing and a woman should not wear men' don't sleep with animals, avoid making one's daughter a prostitute.

Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" I really don't understand why there is an debate. There is nothing in the Bible that says we should worship on Sunday or that it is a Holy Day. It seems if man puts it in to action then everyone ( almost everyone) follows. I myself worship everyday give God Glory and Praise and then I go on with my day. But Saturday the Sabbath Day I keep that day for Him; its special and Holy. Matthew 22:14 Many are called few are chosen and Matt. 7:13 & 14 which says basically wide is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the road that leads to life. Many will be lead by there own understanding.

Anitra16jc The Christian community as a whole does not keep the Sabbath because it was a part of the legal requirements of the Law, and according to the New Testament the Christian today is not under such legal requirements like circumcision, Sabbath keeping, even tithing. Instead, we are to produce the righteousness of the Law, the character of Christ, through the Spirit (see Rom. 6:14; 7:1-8:13; 2 Cor. 3:4-18; Gal. 3-5).
Further, there are no commandments or exhortations in the New Testament for us to keep the Sabbath. Rather, the early church gathered on the first day of the week in celebration and remembrance of the resurrection. This is evident throughout the book of Acts (cf. also 1 Cor. 16:2 and Acts 20:7). Acts 20:7 is the clearest verse in the New Testament which indicates that Sunday was the normal meeting day of the apostolic church. There's nothing in the Bible that says we should keep Saturday either. Why? Because the calendar didn't exist until Christ's time.

Joseph O'Bryan You obviously didn't understand the history of the church as a former Catholic if you think the Edict of Milan gave the church legitimacy when we have papal documents and catholic bishop documents dating from before Emperor Constantine was born. It was in a Catholic Council that the doctrine of the Trinity was once and for all established in lieu of heretics saying Jesus was not God, look it up. Pope Dionysius in 259 AD was one of the guys to call the heretics out, and the Catholic Council of Nicea established the idea of the Trinity in 325, not Constantine.

I am a former Catholic, now a Seventh-day Adventist. The Catholic church has some truths... But mingled with error. The pope declare to be the vicar of Christ. That is blasphemy. To claim the forgiveness of sins and to offer pardons for money- That is blasphemy.
The bible is truth. If you want to go toe to toe,be prepared to receive quotes from the Catholic church itself stating that it is above the bible and the precepts of Christ. Shepherds saw it. They were guided by the angels. Jesus was already a toddler when Herod issued the death decree.

Here is something that "Rome" still practices and that Adventists NEVER mention (and seemingly miss). Catholics have always met everyday of the week for Mass (the daily Mass), *that includes Saturdays* . This is something that Christianity has done since the beginning.
There are 71 Million Catholics in America and roughly 1/3 of them meet for Mass on Saturdays. That means that there are more Catholics in the United States alone attending church every Saturday than there are Seventh-day Adventists around the entire world, both groups meeting on the same day of the week. (There are 21 million SDAs worldwide).
And yet SDAs think that Catholics are going to force everyone to go to church on Sundays, and somehow forbid meeting on Saturdays (which the Catholics have always done).
Further, *the Catholics themselves have been fiercely opposed and against the death penalty since Vatican II* . So the notion of them enforcing a law regarding who can buy and sell with threat of capital punishment is simply not in their philosophy and thought. The whole "Sunday law" notion is completely absurd and utterly childish.
God made the world in six days and rested on the seventh, sanctifying this day, and setting it apart from all others as holy to Himself, to be observed by His people throughout their generations.
But the man of sin, exalting himself above God, sitting in the temple of God, and showing himself to be God, thought to change times and laws (See Daniel ch. 7). i was Catholic, i was awakened. Its a system that confuses; much emphasis on " works based". Peter is key in this Church. But Peter was for the Jews . Its Paul who is the apostle of the gentiles. As Catholics, there was no emphasis in Grace by Faith alone , or else man will boast! And that the key was " shedding of the blood". The mass in Catholicism in the missal is year on year, repitition. I once phoned the priest complained about the events that scandal in the church, and keyed in on bible verses; but when he said " the bible is not the Authority!"- that was IT. i hanged up.

There are some people who fail to separate the sabbaths one from the other.
The ceremonial sabbath John 19:31 instruction where written in the book of the law Deuteronomy 31:24-26 which comes to and end in Christ Romans 10:4.

Whenever you see "the first day of the week" always keep in mind the 7 Feasts/Holy Convocations from Leviticus 23. There were 3 Feast Weeks that were mandatory for all Hebrew males (Exodus 23, 34 and Deuteronomy 16). The 3 were Tabernacles (Sukkot), Unleavened Bread and Weeks. Weeks was 7 Weeks of 7 or 49 Days. The next Day was Pentecost, Day 50. You mentioned Acts 20:7, this was the "first day of the Week" of Week 1 of the 7 Weeks of 7, how do we know that? Look at Acts 20 verse 16, we see Pentecost listed there. Another Verse is 1 Corinthians 16:2, same thing here, look at 1 Corinthians 16:8, there is Pentecost again. The most classic is after the Resurrection. Jesus Rose on the "first day of the Week" of Week 1 of the 7 Weeks of 7. First Fruits is Day 1 of the 49. He appeared for 49 Days during Weeks. Read Acts 1 and 2, count backwards from Pentecost morning, there is a Sabbath's Day journey (about a 1,000 yards) then we are at Day 49 at the Ascension.

The Bible does infact show that Sunday is Christ's Sabbath and that it was God's plan before the foundation of the world. The Book of Deuteronomy clearly shows this. Sunday is Christ's New Covenant Sabbath. Here is how and why.
In the Old Testament there are two lists of the Ten Commandments, one in the Book of Exodus and another list is in the Book of Deuteronomy: Ex 20:1-17 and Deut 5:1-21, both of which explain the purpose of the Sabbath but both explain the purpose of the Sabbath differently.
The Book of Exodus tells us the purpose of the Sabbath is to rest and to remember God's creation, however, in Deuteronomy Moses tells us that the purpose of the Seventh day Sabbath is to remember the Exodus, that is, the Exodus from Egypt.
The Old Testament is a prefiguration of the New Testament - the Old Testament points to its fulfilment in the New Testament.
The Letter to the Hebrews tells us that the New Covenant is greater than the Old Covenant (Heb 8:6) - and that the New Covenant reality is made present in Christ Jesus - while the Old Covenant pointed to something greater to come - the fulfilment of the Old. Jesus Christ, by His death and resurrection, brought about the true Exodus - not from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt - but the true and real Exodus from slavery to sin and death.
If the purpose of the Sabbath in the Old Testament/Old Covenant was to remember the Exodus from Egypt - then the purpose of the Sabbath in the New Testament/New Covenant is to remember the True Exodus which came through Jesus Christ, which is the Exodus from sin and death, and which is clearly greater than the Old Covenant Exodus; for Christ's Exodus was accomplished by his death and his resurrection - his resurrection which took place on the First Day of the week - Sunday - not Saturday. So Christians celebrate the true Exodus from slavery to sin and death on the day Christ accomplished it.
In Colossians 2: 16-17 Paul tells us that all the Jewish Feast - including the Seventh-Day Sabbath are a "shadow" of the New Covenant Sabbath bought about by Christ's death and resurrection.
"Shadow" does NOT mean "done away with", it means "transformed". The Old Covenant Passover feast was not "done away with" but was transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ.
The sacrifice of the lamb in the Temple was NOT done away with but transformed into the sacrifice of Christ (the true Lamb) on the Cross - not taken away but transformed. The altar in the Temple was not done away with but transformed into the wood of the cross.
So too with the Old Covenant Sabbath, it was not taken away but transformed by Christ from the Deuteronomy 5:15 rememberence of the Exodus from slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt - to the reality that God had always planned - the Exodus from slavery to sin.
That is why Hebrews tells us that there is still a Sabbath day for Christians to keep but that it is On Another Day - that is what Hebrews tells us - the Sabbath is to be kept but kept on Another Day - its right there in Hebrews.
Hebrews 4: 8-11, specifically verse 8, shows us its on "another day"
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
In addition - by Christ's resurrection on the First Day of the week - Sunday - Christ has brought about a New Creation - which the New Testament confirms - Christ Jesus IS the New Creation and He IS First-Fruits.
There are Sunday Sabbaths in the Old Testament (Lev 23: 9-14) called First-Fruits. God made the Jewish Feast of First-Fruits in the Old Testament to always fall on the Sunday - that is - the Sunday which followed the Saturday Sabbath in the week of Passover week - so Sunday Sabbaths are already given us in the Old Testament - and First-Fruits day is the very day on which Christ rose from the dead following the Passover Last Supper.
God had always planned that Christ would rise on the First-Fruits Sunday Sabbath - and Christians obedient to Christ's First-Fruits Sabbath Resurrection - gather on every Sunday.

In Christ Jesus Christians through Baptism have already entered the heavenly Jerusalem (Heb12:22) and sit with him on his heavenly throne (Eph 2:6) - they already participate in the eternal heavenly rest - and Sunday is a foretaste of that eternal rest - Sunday Mass (and every day of the week when we go to weekday Mass) we enter into that eternal heavenly community of the angles who forever pray and sing "Holy Holy Holy, Lord God of Hosts.." - this is the Mass - this is what the Mass is for - we don't have to wait for death and for heaven after death - we can come to the heavenly hosts and join with them in the eternal praise of God.
The Jews in their Sabbath keeping remember the week just past - but we Christians put God first in our week - by bringing everything we are and have, with and for Christ - Christ is the First and the Last - Sunday is the First Day of the week so we gather together to offer and give Him everything - and He gives us Himself - truly present in the Eucharist.

Hebrews 8 explains that the priests served with the copies here on earth. While Jesus is ministering with the originals in heaven. That leaves us with two Ark’s, one in heaven and one on earth, [Jewish ceremonial economy] wish was eventually abolished.
If we notice in the book of Revelation we will see that it’s not just the Ark of the Covenant that is mentioned. It’s also the altar of incense, the seventh branched candlestick … In fact, the book of Revelation shows us Jesus ministering in a heavenly sanctuary.
“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: *We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. 4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 *Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. 6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”* - *Hebrews 8:1-6*

So, the heavenly sanctuary is not constructed and made by human hands. The earthly Ark is such a thing, according to Exodus it was a copy of the heavenly shaped and formed by human hands. God’s throne in heaven is according to scripture not made by human hands that would indeed lessen God’s supreme reign.

The phrase *”ark of his agreement”* is used by the Phillips Bible. The phrase *“Ark that holds the agreement God gave to his people [Ark of his Covenant]”* is used in the EXB, and NCV Bible versions. The phrase *”ark of his testament”* is used in the NMB Bible version. The WEB Bible use the phrase *“the Lord’s covenant”* WE Bible use the phrase *“The box where his agreement was kept*” So, were the Ten Commandments abolished. This is a definite no which can be based entirely on Matthew 5:17-19 alone. When this passage is properly understood, it proves that all other passages used to imply that the Ten Commandments have been abolished are misunderstood or they would severely contradict the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:17-19 as well as the remainder of chapter 5. Jesus never contradicts Himself. *Note the following points:*
According to the following scripture, the Old Testament always informs us through the prophets what changes are coming in the future. Amos 3:7 “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
What did the Old Testament prophets say Jesus would do? Isaiah 42:21 “The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; *he will MAGNIFY the law, and make it HONOURABLE.”*
In Matthew 5:17-19 we find the fulfilment of this prophecy. The translations from the NIRV Bible and the CEV Bible give greater clarity to the meaning of fulfilling the law and a jot or a tittle. See also Luke 16:17 which also makes it abundantly clear that *not even a comma or full stop is going to be abolished from the law.* These verses have to include all Ten Commandments or we have a lot more than a “jot” and a “tittle” passing from the law. The fourth that some claim was abolished or changed to also remains *unchanged as long as heaven and earth are still here.*
For those who have not heard of the expression a jot or tittle, a “jot” is the smallest letter of the Hebrew alphabet and a “tittle” is one of those little strokes by which one Hebrew letter is distinguished from another. The expression a jot or tittle is literally the smallest part. Or to put it another way, this would be the equivalent of crossing your “T's” and dotting your “I's” or could even be described as a period and a comma as observed in the above translations.
In the remainder of Matthew chapter five one can read how Jesus does magnify the law just as it was prophesied. Below are five examples: From “do not murder,” to “anyone who is angry with his brother without cause will be subject to judgment.” Matthew 5:21-22. From “You shall not commit adultery,” to “whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28
From “anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce,” to “anyone who divorces his wife except for marital unfaithfulness causes her to become an adulteress.” Matthew 5:31-32. From “an eye for eye and tooth for tooth,” to “if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other cheek also.” Matthew 5:38-39. From “love your neighbour and hate your enemy,” to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44
Note that the first part of points 3-4 especially were never God's ideal and were implemented by Moses to help keep the peace between the people because of the hardness of their hearts. See Matthew 19:8 for example: *There is no change to the law but it was magnified as prophesied. Jesus not only said that we are to obey the Ten Commandment law but He places a very strong emphasis on the fact that we are to teach it also. You certainly cannot teach a law that has been abolished. Those teaching that the Ten Commandments have ended are going against the instructions of our Lord and Saviour and will be called least by those who do enter the kingdom.*
Observe a few of the contradictions which we would have in scripture if the Ten Commandments were abolished. [Luke 16:17; Romans 2:13; Romans 3:31; Romans 7:7; Romans 7:12; 1 John 2:4; Revelation 14:12; Revelation 22:14.

Seventh-day Adventists agree with many Catholic doctrines, including the Trinity, Christ’s divinity, the virgin birth, the atonement, a physical resurrection of the dead, and Christ’s Second Coming. Adventists also subscribe to the two Protestant shibboleths, sola scriptura (the Bible is the sole rule of faith) and sola fide (justification is by faith alone). Other Protestants, especially conservative Evangelicals and Fundamentalists, often attack Adventists on these points, claiming they do not really hold them, which is often used as “proof” that they are “a cult.” However, along the spectrum of Protestantism (from high-church Lutherans and Anglicans to low-church Pentecostals and Baptists), there is little agreement about the meaning of these two phrases or about the doctrines they are supposed to represent.
Adventist Anti-Catholicism
Catholics may suppose that anti-Catholicism is part of Adventism’s radical fringe. Unfortunately, this is untrue. Adventists who are moderate on Catholicism are a minority. Anti-Catholicism characterizes the denomination because it is embraced in White’s “divinely inspired” writings. A few illustrations help indicate the scope of the problem:
“Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots . . . is further declared to be ‘that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.’ Revelation 17:4-6, 18. The power that for so many centuries maintained despotic sway over the monarchs of Christendom is Rome.” (The Great Controversy, 338).
“It is one of the leading doctrines of Romanism that the pope is the visible head of the universal Church of Christ . . . and has been declared infallible. He demands the homage of all men. The same claim urged by Satan in the wilderness of temptation is still urged by him [Satan] through the Church of Rome, and vast numbers are ready to yield him homage” (ibid., 48).
“Marvelous in her shrewdness and cunning is the Roman Church. She can read what is to be. She bides her time, seeing that the Protestant churches are paying her homage in their acceptance of the false Sabbath. . . . And let it be remembered, it is the boast of Rome that she never changes. The principles of Gregory VII and Innocent III are still the principles of the Roman Catholic Church. And has she but the power, she would put them in practice with as much vigor now as in past centuries” (ibid., 507-8).
“God’s word has given warning of the impending danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and massive structures, in the secret recesses of which her former persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for her to strike. All that she desires is vantage ground, and this is already being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever believe and obey the word of God will thereby incur reproach and persecution” ( ibid., 508-9).
Bear in mind that these quotes are not taken from an obscure work of White’s that nobody ever reads. They are from what is probably her single most popular volume, The Great Controversy.
Adventist Eschatology
Seventh-day Adventism is basically consumed with the concept of the last days. It was formed from the remnants of the Millerite movement, which was created to await the world’s end. In White’s end-times view, the Jewish Sabbath and the Catholic Church play prominent roles.
According to her, the papacy is the seven-headed beast from the sea in Revelation 13:1-10. Accompanying this beast is a lamb-like beast from the earth (Rev. 13:11-18). The latter causes the world to worship the former and has an image made of it. White proclaimed that the second beast is the United States (The Great Controversy, 387-8), and that it will force people to worship the papacy by “enforcing some observance which shall be an act of homage to the papacy” (ibid., 389). This observance, she says, is Sunday worship rather than Saturday worship.
White claims that the papacy changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday, making this change a mark of its authority. In her view, there will come a time when the United States will establish a “national Sunday law” and compel its citizens to worship on Sunday. It will not compel them to become Catholics, but to join a Protestant state-church that is an “image” of the papacy, and thus, “the image of the beast” (ibid., 382-96).
Seventh-day Adventism cannot change its views on the Catholic Church being the Whore of Babylon without admitting that it was wrong on Sunday worship. It cannot admit that Sunday worship is not the mark of the beast without changing its views on the Jewish Sabbath. Seventh-day Adventism cannot cease to be anti-Catholic without ceasing to be Seventh-day Adventism.
There is a “moderate” wing of Adventism that is more open to Catholics as individuals. In fact, White was willing to concede that-in the here and now (before the end times)-some Catholics are saved. She wrote that “there are now true Christians in every church, not excepting the Roman Catholic communion, who honestly believe that Sunday is the Sabbath of divine appointment. God accepts their sincerity of purpose and their integrity before him. But when Sunday observance shall be enforced by law, and the world shall be enlightened concerning the obligation of the true Sabbath, then whoever shall transgress the command of God, to obey a precept which has no higher authority than Rome, will thereby honor popery above God” (ibid., 395).
Unfortunately, this one tolerant statement is embedded in hundreds of hostile statements. While this.aspect of her teaching can be played up by her more moderate followers, it is difficult for them to do so, because the whole Adventist milieu in which they exist is anti-Catholic. The group is an eschatology sect, and its central eschatological teaching, other than Christ’s Second Coming, is that the Second Coming will be preceded by a period in which the papacy will enforce Sunday worship on the world. Everyone who does not accept the papacy’s Sunday worship will be killed; and everyone who does accept the papacy’s Sunday worship will be destroyed by God.

this is something that I have been wrestling with but I understand and know that the Sabbath is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown that's the Sabbath day and keep it holy to rest on that day and do no work we as believers Christians followers of Christ Hebrews worship, fellowship or work on Sunday which is the first day of the week because Jesus/Yahsha rose on that day that's my understanding.

The RCC also changed the calendar, so my question is: Do you really think "YAHUAH" Elohim keeps time via the pagan roman calendar, currently in use around the world, and thus, that His appointed weekly Sabbath falls on either "Satur(n)day," or "Sun-day?" Or, do you believe, His weekly Sabbath, is on the "7th day," of the week, on His Calendar, as determined by the "sun, moon, and stars," whatever day it happens to fall on the pagan roman calendar? Question: if I make an appointment to meet you on a certain day, sometime in the future, but we are both using different calendars, what do you think is the likelihood that we will actually meet on the same day? Also, If I make an appointment with my Doctor, but mistakenly arrive at my appointment on a different day, and am unable to see my doctor, can I say that I have been treated by my Doctor? If YAH makes an appointment to see me on the 7th day of every week on His Calendar, and I show up on a different day, based on a "different" calendar, can I truthfully say that I have kept YAH's weekly Sabbath?
Hi @David Arnold, thank you. That is a great point you raise. What you will notice when you examine the change of the calendar is that there was a change in dates but the order of the days remained the same. So for example we may have had Wed 2nd of September and then Thursday the 14th of September. The day order has remained the same. The Lord will preserve what is His.
Why did God start the church on a Sunday? God poured out His Holy Spirit on the church on a Sunday. It was called Pentecost. 3,000 were saved. The same day Moses received the Ten Commandments. Lev. 23

From what I can gather, Peter was a reverent and not a bishop. This is the first actual accurate quote in the 4:34 minutes of listening to it. It is to be noted that even before this a number of cultures from Acts 10 onwards worshiped on days including a Saturday and other days. From 5:16 he quoted TN in a lecture 1893. I have no idea what TN's credentials are but I am not assuming he was a bishop until it can be proved otherwise.

In the end, we have certain facts. First, Jesus commands us to keep the commandments-all ten of them. Second, we see that the Church is essential for Christians to be able to receive the sacraments, which in turn are essential for salvation. Yet the Sabbath is not mandatory for Christians. Would it not follow that there would be a day that is essential for Christians to keep the essence of the third commandment?
Granted, we know from Tradition the answer is yes. The day is Sunday. But we see this confirmed in many texts of the New Testament as well.
Whenever we see Christians meeting to worship the Lord, receive communion and/or to take up collections as Christians apart from the synagogue, it is either “daily” or, especially, it’s “on the first day of the week.” It is true that you often see St. Paul entering the synagogue on the Sabbath (Acts 13:14-44; 16:13; 18:4). However, in each instance his purpose was to proclaim the truth about Christ to the Jews. These are not specifically Christian gatherings.
But notice what we find in Acts 2:46: “And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts.” St. Paul and his companions attended the temple, but the “breaking of bread” occurred in the house “churches” of Christians.
The “breaking of bread,” by the way, is a eucharistic phrase in St. Luke’s writings. For example, when St. Paul was in Troas in Acts 20:7, we read: “On the first day of the week, when we gathered together to break bread . . .” Luke 24:30-31 records that Cleopas and an unnamed disciple’s “eyes were opened” and they recognized Jesus “in the breaking of the bread” (Luke 24:30-31).
And according to Luke 24:1, 13, this encounter just happened to be on the first day of the week. St. Paul never says, “On the Sabbath, when we gathered to break bread . . .” The “breaking of bread” in Luke 24 and in Acts 20 occurs on the first day of the week.
You’ll notice as well that though there were no church buildings in the first century, Christians had already designated homes for “church” gatherings (see I Cor. 11:18-23). The “breaking of bread” was the focal point of the “church” gathering, just as it is for Catholics today. And, again, this was done especially on the first day of the week (see Acts 20:7).

The sabbath was given to the whole world at the beginning of creation. Genesis 2:1-3 says God “blessed/sanctified”the 7th day! When the commandments were given to the children of Isreal, the fourth commandment said to REMEMBER the sabbath day (Exodus 20:8). How could they remember something that wasn't already introduced. Had it been the first time it was spoken about he would have said, so there's this day that I want you to keep holy...etc but He said Remember and left it at that. If I were to say don't forget to buy the milk: that's assuming you know what milk is and where to purchase it. The real reason why he said remember is found later in Exodus 20:10 & 11 (because he rested from his creation work). He even refers to it as the sabbath of the Lord God. There are several other instances in the bible when he refers to himself as Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-14). He does offer a different type of rest as you stated in Matthew 11:28-a rest from burdens but the sabbath day is still important. In fact Revelation 12:17 tells us that in the last days, the beast will make war with the church who keeps the commandments (all ten), those who are referred to as the remnant of God. Mark 2:27 tells us that the Sabbath was made for man. Matthew 19:17 tells us that in order to get to Heaven you must keep the commandments (all ten). John 14:15 says if you love him you will keep His commandments (all ten). In the prophecy of Daniel we learn that there will be a set of people who might seek to change laws/times (Daniel 7:24,25) but God's word abides forever and cannot be changed. Daniel has been shown from scripture time and time again yet he wishes to form his own bible, no good can come from that. Most people want to FORGET the Sabbath day and that really is their loss, they are missing a tremendous blessing.
