WITHOUT YOU - LYRICS
Miles Away
There's hopeless smiles brighter than mine
And I need for you to come and go
Without the truth falling out.
Old incisions refusing to stay
Like sun through the trees on a cloudy day
Telephone
Socially scared and impaired
If the trees will bloom the wind can blow
Without the fruit falling out
Feels like the wind blows
Holding you with us
She takes no other
False light and ashes
Blooming like winter
Dry eyes and cracked lips
Under the stone wall
Withdrawn and wishless
You brighten my life like a polystyrene hat
But it melts in the sun like a life without love
But I've waited for you so I'll keep holding out
Without You

great song, so under rated, whole album was amazing
leokimvideo yup

Yes, it's really weird how Silverchair is hidden away. These songs only get better with age. This is one of the best songwriters Australia has ever had.
more like one of the best songwriters in all of modern rock
Funny...I remember casting this whole album aside as "crap," thinking Silverchair had changed and gone too soft. Now, 15 years later, here I am with a beer in my hand, on CZcams listening to this, thinking, "this is some great shit!" This song in particular is an amazing piece of song writing .
Diorama...one of the greatest albums of all time...Silverchair...Daniel Johns...he’s an absolute musical genius ♥️
Agree. There is nothing like it.
Been on a Silverchair/Daniel Johns spiral since his podcast. I honestly think this song is one of the most beautifully written songs out there. What a talent, this band.
10000% but the latest album is so good and brings in everything from his past

Same here!
Hi I recommend a song called 'Looking into The Mirror' by Robert Nix
@@redskies4530 lol
Daniel Johns has a gift . He is very humble . He is a brilliant singer songwriter of our generation. Listened to Silverchair when I was 19 , now I’m 43 ( same age as Daniel) and still blown away .
I was 13 when i got frogstomp on cassette from a friend on my 13th bday and have been so in love with them since. Im 41 now 💛
sadly he's not interested i making Rock tunes anymore😢
I almost forgot this song...this is one of SC songs that i would play again and again and again back then. Wow...90s rock is awesome ya. 25+ years back, and how i felt for this song remain the same. ❤
If you grew up while
Silverchair were developing as artists and growing up too then you probably have a strong attachment to their music. I remember they won artists of the year on Channel V 6 or 7 years in a row even if they didn’t release music because Channel V fans loved Silverchair
❤🤘🎼 Eu tinha 17, hoje 44✊🇧🇷🫶
One of the most underrated rock songs of all time.
Yea! What the hell happened?? Ha Ha
They never got the traction in N. America they deserved. Massive in Australia tho.
I loved Silverchair as a kid/teen. I am in my 30s now and I am still floored by Daniel Johns work. His voice is amazing, his lyrics and musical talent is unbelievable.
same here ... :-)
He's great and I can't stand when ppl want him to be the same 15 yr old he was when he first started out, like he's not supposed to grow up! His voice is beautiful, he's beautiful... as a female I wouldn't mind growing up to be as attractive as him...lol
Agree. Think he peaked with this album.
babesinmusicland . I agree 100% Even though Daniel don't look same as he did then.. I still adore him.. I LUV HIM. 💝
Jenny Holts he looks like a drug addict nowadays
That last riff/progression is incredible.
Came here for this comment...first time hearing this song and now have that end part echoing around in my head... 😊😊
Brilliant Stuff

Exactly. Good music is supposed to trigger those emotions.
Silverchair antigo era puro Rock, depois virou puro pop. Prefiro o Silverchair das antigas, esse é muito pop.
Sem palavras...
alegria, saudade e tristeza só de Stalin, meu amigo
This doesn't make me sad at all
Anyone still listening in 2023?? It's been over 20 years and I still cant stop.
Totally still into it, still wonderful and amazing as the day it was released... mesmerising
@AmandaBragner-km3ne , I remember the first time I saw these guys in the 90s, still one of My favorite bands. ! Wish I new more fans.
Em 2024, ainda‼️
This song/album, IMO, is an underatted masterpiece. It’s just a beautiful record.

I love Dis band sooooooowwhh
THANK YOU! Finally someone says just HOW good they ARE! This is my Top Favorite Album by Silverchair! Favorite song (though all of them are good) is Tuna In The Brine! 👏😁

Yup, love that ending

I know right. That outro is incredible.

God he is such a beautiful looking man, even now. This band is one of Australia ‘s greatest, wish they were still around.
to be fair, there's not a lot of completion.

The light or soul of the person, Daniel knows what it is to feel shame at a level most don't, he's walked it out as a beautiful thing regardless.. the eyes tell purity of greatness
Probably one of the best albums of the last 30 years. Simply wonderful
This should have been a huge hit. Musically it's the peak of Silverchair.
This album was a bit too "out there" to be a huge hit, I think. It's a weird pop/prog-rock mashup. I agree that it's a remarkable album though. Don't know of any other band that created a sound quite like Diorama, it's almost a genre in itself!
This was the top rated album by them . But i don't know a lot of music by this band
it was in Australia, I believe. Even when these guys' popularity simmered here in the States, They were Australia's Golden boys. Daniel Johns is still a very big deal in Oz. Ben's current fame is his wife being a bit of a Australian Kardashian in a sense. Chris owns and works a bar in their hometown.
@@Tirryna Do they still make a music though? even it's a solo project?
@@EchaFahreza_ Daniel Johns still does music. He and another guy made a techo-synth pop group called Dreams.
He hasn't touched rock for a while...mainly 80's-style synth now. You can't reconize him or his voice at all.
Been listening to Silverchair since I was a teen. Im now 40 and still jam out!

we can see that you know shit about music..
Bob Marley are you saying you don’t like silverchair?

Diorama is an 11/10 album.
Always loved Silverchair. Always will.
I just bought Diorama on vinyl and I’m truly amazed by how great it sounds after all these years. A massively underrated album and this song is a pure gem 💎
"After all these years"... ;)
I’m sure I drove my whole family mad playing this album over and over and over when I received it as a Christmas present in 2002.
I just couldn’t stop. It’s a masterpiece - every single song on the album is an ear orgasm.
So talented . Finished chair and did every fucking thing he wanted to with it, made the best 5 albums ever and left when most people would be just starting

The Greatest View and Without You are my favorite SIlverchair songs. Without You is so poetic. 90s and early 2000s grunge is really the best with Silverchair.
yep, for sure Greatest View and Without You are awesome as well as Across The Night... and particularly amazing is After All These Years which Daniel's live performance on The Panel is legendary czcams.com/video/p1h5br4wjMg/video.html
this song makes me feel like 18 again..i miss my old friends...
First time I listened to this song was from a boy I had a huge crush on. He let me listen to his headphones. On a old ass CD player and I was lost. Love this ❤️
Diorama is so underrated by the Chair's fan, because it's not teenage grunge. But it's such a great awesome album. I miss them. I continue to pray for another Silverchair album with guitar (not for Young Modern)
I thought they were great through it all
If you've heard Daniel Johns' stuff lately, you'll know there's no going back.
He's clearly gotten bored of the whole rock thing. Unfortunately he's fallen into that artist's trap of things that are interesting to do, but not listen to - as opposed to rock, which is fun to listen to, but often very boring to make & play. Which is his business, and I'm happy for him, but I don't care to listen to any of it.
@@InnuendoXP Yeah would agree with that to some extent, but some of the solo stuff is pretty cool
Nostalgia! I remember skipping classes after lunch just to buy a their album on a casette tape , play it on a walkman, and listen to it for the rest of the day. Such good days!
He has an otherworldly beauty
Daniel looks like an angel in this video. As he sounds
This is the Daniel john that I miss.. this is very beautiful song
and he had my BLACK BEAUTY LES PAUL of Honor
What a masterpiece this song was. Still gives me the fizzes all these years later.

The fizzes. Not heard that before. Like it. Stealing it.
After all these years.
Indeed.

after 16 years, I'm enjoying Silverchair again, and some of the lyrics have so much more meaning for me now. still impressed with Daniel talent for words and how deep those feelings was for such young boys.... now, this is definitely my new fav song of them... there's a meaning for me, the lyric is beautiful and the music is great! Thanks silverchair for everything

What a freaking dope track I do miss being surrounded by great music wherever I'd be at.
For real. So much better when music was revered by fans and not everyone could do it with a computer. People don't connect with music the way they used to.

Diorama has grown on me so much over the years.

Still loving this in 2022…. Got to see Silverchair twice in one weekend. Took a date to see them at the Brisbane river stage Saturday night then happened to see them Sunday night down the Gold Coast at Homebake haha. Miss the late 90s festival scene, Livid, Homebake, Big day out, watching Recovery on Saturday mornings.
90's is surely golden age.
Too much of memory as teenager back there.
Best ending in a song
