The thing is fusion isn't a viable energy source yet, with current tech you need more energy to produce the plasma than you get from it. Because of that you lose energy. Because of radiation protection in the reactors almost no radiation is emmited. A nuclear plant worker in one year recieves the same radiation dose as you do when you eat a banana.
