Kenneth Hagin of blessed memory taught me the principles of faith and prosperity the biblical way and I am forever grateful to God for encountering him early in my christian journey. One of the greatest issues in Christianity today is that once a principle is abused some preachers tend to condemn the whole principle in its entirety. Only something that exists can be abused. Faith and Prosperity are real and that's why they can be abused. That they were abused doesn't call for condemnation in their entirety. Till forever no man will ever please God without faith and no church will expand beyond the prosperity (resources) of its membership because God made them rich primarily for that. That people cheat to pass exams doesn't mean everyone that passed is a cheat.
I grew up in faith consuming Kenneth Hagin's books, they were balanced, deep and spiritually enriching. He was among those God used to spearhead the emergence of the Pentecostal movement. Sometimes a lot of our ministers jump to criticize without a full view. I remember an Ukraine based Pastor that spent a lot of time criticizing Bishop Oyedepo and Adeboye rather than facing his ministry. I observed that most of his criticism videos attracts tens of thousands of views whereas his sermons attracts a few hundreds. That means most people came to listen to his criticisms not his message. Then I asked myself - where is the impact of his own messages? There's no ministry of criticism in the bible only that of reconciliation (2Cor5:18)
Criticism is NOT correction/reproof. In the book of Acts, ministers correct each other directly IN LOVE not through attacks. In Kenneth Hagin's book "I believe in Visions" he dealt a lot with how God deals with ministers including himself. In one of his books he even mentioned a case where God sent him to warn another minister that he would be taken off if he doesn't stop his heretic teachings and that he was creating problems for the body of Christ. That minister (proven to be William Braham) died for not heeding the warning.
The workload of the end time is too much for any serious minister to have time for criticism - massive lot of souls on their way to hell. It's no brainer that most of these churches that are prosperous are also the fastest growing. God wants souls, let keep our focus on that. And God can handle his ministers. God's Blessings!

That is wrong.The Bible is fool of passages of Faith and how to live by it( Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17 , Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10;38 as well as Passages of How to become prosperous in a Godly way, and Towards God.Job 36:11, Psalm 30:6 , Psalm 35:27, Psalm 118:25 , Psalm 122:7, Proverbs 10:22 and Many More.

Bro Hagin has really blessed my life and is still blessing us till date. His book " I believed in vision changed my life forever", it is painful to see bro Gbile called his material poison. It is not and will never be, only in the hands of those who abused it.
Brutality is an understatement for what Uncle Gbile did. In recent times, we try to be civil in our correction (and I understand why, at least to an extent) This was an outright annihilation. Maybe that's why he is not always invited, if not...🔥🔥🔥

Kenneth Hagin was an amazing man of God that introduced the basic doctrine of Christianity to me. I read almost all the books written by him and obviously bro Gbinle Akani never did. He thought us daily confession and how important it is to spend time in prayer and the Word. Very upright and in my opinion, a God's general !!

Kenneth Hagin. Blessed memory indeed. He has helped me in faith and has helped us to get in touch with God's power through His (God's) word. Over time, I realised that no man is perfect, we might slip a bit in our doctrine but that does not make us less a great man of God. True, modern greedy and untoward minister have wrested the truth and turned the issue of prosperity into poison. Over time in Nigeria, the slogan has gradually become seek ye first prosperity and the Kingdom of God shall be added. It's a mess this day indeed but in Kenneth Hagin's time it was prosperity based on God's word. The truth is that most of us would not be happy in this modern world without money. Our pastors should have made it known that all us will not be billionaire but all of us will be cared for by God.. Let the brother who is rich be humbled in his wealth and let him who doesn't have much be exalted in the grace of God

If the church in Nigeria hearkened to the instruction on Kenneth Hagin to pray more in tongues, most of the problems we're facing now as a nation would have been averted.
In his Book, Midas touch, Kenneth Hagin warned against abusing the prosperity message.

At the end of the day the conundrum and confusion in church today is because of the passivity and non-challant attitude of the constituted regulatory authority called PFN/CAN. What exactly is their role? They're the one to bring checks and balances and the so-called "Correction".

The damage of the prosperity message can not be overemphasized to Nigeria. Some of this was exported to other African countries laden with greed and covetousness. Purity of life is downlayed anywhere prosperity message is promoted, deification of the General Overseers is exalted more than the name of the Lord being glorified hence the spiritual dryness and lack of revival in our churches.
I don't know what your definition of a prosperity message is but The Gospel of Christ (salvation),encompasses prosperity, excellence etc howbeit abused by some.The error in these so called corrections is that it doesn't strive for the substance which is creating the balance needed.These are truths of scriptures which greedy/unsuspecting ministers have abused but they are scriptural truths notwithstanding.

The corrections are needed continuously. Paul corrected Peter for his hypocrisy when the Jewish Christians arrived and he refused to eat with the gentile Christians whom he had dined with before.
Nobody is above correction. As christians we will err from time to time even though we do not live a life of error. The correction is for our own good, but most people see it as attacks on their personality.
The same church was criticized as been a cycle for church rats in quote. Poverty ruined the image of the Church. God salvaged that image through the preaching of prosperity. Even during the era of the holiness movement, corruption was still ongoing in the church.

But just as people misunderstood the doctrines of Apostle Paul to their destruction, its the same case with some Nigerian christians and the doctrines of Pastor Haggen. Gbile challenged the two preachers he mentioned in his message. All the senior pastors were there but didn't say anything, a new believer who Apostle Paul referred to as drinking milk could easily be deceived.
We have the responsibility as children of God to defend the souls Jesus Christ died for. We have the Bible yet there is a place for sound preaching/sermons.
We are the body of Christ and it is our corporate responsibility to defend what comes to the body from the lies of the kingdom of darkness.

I have read some of Hagins books and one thing i noticed is that many ministers converted the instructions God gave to Kenneth Haggin into doctrine and thats where the problem started from. Instructions can never be doctrines, it is subject to doctrines and inferior to doctrines.

There is a balance to all of these teachings. I pray the lord guide us all and prepare the bride of Christ for his return. Keneth Hagin was a true man of God but some of teachings were misconstrued by his followers and that happens a lot in the body of Christ. BrotherGbile is also a true shepherd.Even paul’s message was misused according to Peter (2 Peter 3:15-16). Let’s seek the Lord Jesus instead of idolizing his vessels.

We are not called to preach prosperity, it's not scriptural. Paul said "WE" not "I" preach CHRIST..... No more no less!!! See..... Prosperity will follow as people become dedicated to CHRIST no more no less!!!
I think one of the issue with These Elders is over assumption, the fact that they saw someone fall and misinterpreted some Bible truths based on their own lust and greedy minds doesn't mean everyone preaching Divine Prosperity is Lobe sided or doesn't pay attention to other teachings. I started attending one of these Prosperity Church - and I was taken aback by what I saw; the intensity of devotion, service and outreach made me realized that most of the things these Preachers talk about are from a Distance. Most of these churches work day and night to put things in order and build people holistically - I don't see where they encourage laziness or the stupidity some call Faith.
I am not in anyway supporting falsehood - but let's be guided, we shouldn't destroy the truth of Godly prosperity Because few teachers messed it up. The fact that something is fake connotes that there is an original.
I never believed in the Prosperity Gospel (as they call it) until I came in contact with this Grace at God's own timing (yes there is a Grace for it) and everything started shifting for me. Noone forced me to drop money or sow seeds.
Light shouldn't be scared of Darkness, test and taste things to see for yourself.
Many Believers have become so unbelieving in an attempt to Guard doctrine.
Anyone who has read Kenneth Hagins books know, what was said concerning Him wasn't true. That Man laboured with the Word and He doesn't teach lobe sided truths - if at all someone falls because he read anything from His Books, that's their own issue - they were drawn by their own lust being lobe sided and Lazy.
Even Peter said same concerning Apostle Paul, that's some of things He teaches are hard to understand and might make some to stumble.

Moving to Falsehood Paul said he warned day and night with tears of false brethren and how they will creep in, (and what does day and night mean?) through out the scriptures falsehood was consistently resisted, is it the fight against baal, was it while they were in the wilderness when someone defiled the camp of Israel by disobeying instructions, is it among kings when Saul sacrificed even when it wasn't ordained for him, is it with the sons of Eli in their wrong conduct in the Altar, littered in old testament are numerous instances.
Moving on to new testament through out Jesus's time he warned against the leaven of the pharisee. Likewise Paul, James, Peter in their epistles warned against falsehood.
So I disagree when you make it look like fighting falsehood is not also part of scriptures.
While we preach the gospel it is important also we set the record straight, and hence Peter advised all Christians to be ready to debate and defend the truth.
And speaking about the Nigerian Church, the question is how did we get here?

I do not think Kenneth falls into the category of false teachers. His message was balanced. Defending the Faith. Mostly to the souls God has given to you to noture for him who might come across the same wrong teaching. The issue is pride that has overwhelmed leaders that God has given influence today.. They don't want to reason and listen to whatever correction and disagreement anyone has against their teaching and styles.
The way it should be is... You that sees that what they are doing is wrong with Biblical proofs and emphasis, let them see the Biblical side on the issue while you are correcting and criticizing and if they are humble enough and have the interest of Christ at heart, they will listen and if they still disagree, they will have to show that with Biblical back up too. No one should fight his critics blindly because of positions.
That means you are more concern of yourself than the Gospel .

I don't agree with Bro Gbile Akanni...What Kenneth Hagin taught was very biblical and Kenneth Hagin was an advocate of personal bible study and building faith with God's word...I have listened to him so many times and read his books..
Kenneth Hagin himself wrote a book correcting the excesses of the prosperity message and bringing a balanced approach to biblical prosperity (MIDAS TOUCH). He called his own sons in the ministry and corrected them on their extremes and excesses at a seminar he organised...Nobody is against correction but I am against how it is done..

You cannot judge anything wrong or right with regards to a new doctrine unless it has been discussed amongst mature believers which unfortunately today is very scarce. Many who fault doctrines do so from personal views. Their views have not been judged. These childish quarrels are unscriptural. When there was an issue in the early new testament church, they took the matter to Jerusalem and it was resolved. The matters that must be attacked are those that are directly and indirectly anti-christ in nature. Eg. Christ is not the son of God.
Even the holiness doctrine had it's shortfalls. It made people wicked and unkind. Yet, the teaching of holiness is scriptural. We cannot discard holiness teaching because of the misunderstanding that came up. The same applies to the prosperity doctrine.
You made really valid assertions, and I just want to add that mature Christians do not determine what is right. One could even be mature in error.
It is the objective Truth of Scripture that determines what is right.
While some issues are not foundational or what we'll label as heresy, they can be very misleading and direct believers from the Truth.

New Age mysticism has entered Christianity for years now but because it looks like the real deal, people are worshipping something else that isn't God. They might even have sincere motives but wolves in sheep's clothing have led them astray.

The doctrine of correction is not biblical. The day you invest yourself in doing so is the day God withdraws his presence from you. I would never seat and listen to a man who talks about others instead of preaching Christ and fulfilling his mandate to help the body of Christ grow.

Then, don't listen to Paul because he defended the faith and urged Timothy to do the same. Don't read the book of Jude because it was written to believers to rise and defend their faith from false teachers. Don't read the epistles of John because some of the writings were written to expose false teachers. Just imagine you were part of the Church of Ephesus, the Church of Pergamos, the Church in Thyatira or the Church of the Laodiceans, you would have rejected Apostle John's message because you think it is wrong to correct yet Jesus Christ appeared to John and sent him to the churches. Bro GBILE confuses me sometimes. I listen to John McArthur, Douglas Wilson, Paul Washer people who don’t like the word of Faith movement but they’ve got no boast at all in themselves they tear down and also build up. GBILE on the other hand tears down most if not all the time.
I read your comment before listening to this clip. I then listened to the clip and then wondered while you were "confused." There is no confusion; however, I acknowledge one needs to have listened to the full message to understand the "doctrine". What he has said is not strange or confusing at all; it is the same thrust of Jude 1:3- earnestly contend for the FAITH once delivered to the saints. The Lord give us understanding and grace to obey.
My first impulse was to rise in defense of Gbile then I remembered he needs no defense. Gbile preaches the undiluted word of God, if you don't agree with his position at first, do a study and after many years, you will realize he was right after all. I say this as one that has followed him for 4 decades and have attended his meetings back to back since 97. I have had the privilege of one on one meetings with him, read almost all his books. Gbile is simply in a class all his own and he is the most authentic man of God I know. The meekest man I have met and so free from the love of money. Without reference to any material I can write a book about him and after over 40 years of following him, I can tell you that he is the only human being, dead or alive that I listen to without a sieve over my mind. I trust him that much.
