Nice compilation. Thanks for sharing
Sir, you are an artist and a magician
Followed this build all the Way, what a beautiful boat. And what a joy when a new episode came up. I'll miss that.
This is a work of art.
Great commitment to craftsmanship.
Man, its incredible! Great project, great execution! Congrats!
Wow, its absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing the build process.
After all that I wouldn’t even want to put it into the water, it’s a piece of art.
They look better in the water.
I am glad this video has provided inspiration for your own project. Thank you.
nice canoe! I am getting ready to build one myself. Watching videos to get my inspiration built up!
Building boats is uniquely satisfying. There are very few other projects that have the same combination of aesthetics, functionality and accessibility. Go for it. You will enjoy the project.
Most relaxing video I've watched in a while..
You got to get Stoneyfield to sponsor you ;) So many greek yogurt containers shouldn't come for free!
Beautiful design and build, thank you for taking the time to film and share!
Spectacular
Very nice edit, and the boat turn out beautifully in every version.
You have definitely inspired me to build a kayak. Actually out of all your plans this one is by far my favorite so the fact that you have an in depth tutorial about it is amazing. I am curious if when you buy the plans you get a list of materials that you used. Brands and such. I actually live in RI so I will probably end up going to the same lumber store that you did. Really truly amazing. It might be a while before I actually get to this build but it is absolutely on my list! Thank you for the videos and instruction.
SALUDOS CORDIALES A TODOS DESDE PANAMÁ BENDICIONES PARA USTED Y SU FAMILIA ÉXITOS EN SUS LABORES DIARIAS CHAOOO 😀😀😀🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦🇵🇦😀😀😀🤗🤗
Not a single dislike, and rightly so. Brilliant job!
👍🏿
congratulations, an excellent job, thank you for your generosity, I would like to know how many days an inexperienced person takes, working 8 hours per day and how much is the cost of the materials, more or less thank you again later I will buy the plans, greetings from milano italia, although I'm from Argentina!
You would want to plan on about 200 hours of labor, but with time waiting for epoxy to cure, it may take over 2 months.
THANKS, COST MATIRIALS MORE O LESS?, TOTAL THICKNES? THANK AGAIN
Cost of materials: about $1000 USD.
Thickness: about 5mm.
Великолепно!
How long did it take from start to finish to build this?
About 4 months
Is there room for a forward hatch?
Yes, there is. The customer didn't want a front hatch.
another question, what gives the robustness' is the resin and fiber glassfabrics ?? what is the total thickness, wood + fiberglass + resin, thanks
this process makes a true composite material. The results are better than the sum of the parts. the strength comes from the fiberglass and wood combine, all held together with the epoxy resin. the wood has compression strength and toughness, the fiberglass has tensile strength and abrasion resistance.
The combination is about 5mm thick.
What was your total build time on the Play?
I would estimate over 200 hours. Since this is a build for a customer, I put a lot more time into some details than I might do for my own build.
Where to learn how to do this
You can get an in-depth description of the whole process through this video series: czcams.com/video/m-iZpwbMDn0/video.html
I also have an instruction book: www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/kayaking_information/products/books/stripbuilt_sea_kayak
Or you can attend a class: www.guillemot-kayaks.com/guillemot/event_list/classes
What is that plastic an gluw that you put over it
The boat is reinforced with a layer of fiberglass fabric (a woven cloth made from yarns of glass fibers) that are adhered to the wood with epoxy resin.
Nick Schade cool and the gluw?
How thick are those strips
3/16 inch (4mm)
1:30 what is that plane?
That is my "Robobevel" tool for accurately beveling the strips for a tight fit: czcams.com/video/KJPmhu4ZezM/video.html
