  • These are my shortcut rows in garter stitch used in many Westknits patterns. In several patterns I instruct to "knit to end of row while closing the short row gaps." This is how I close the short row gaps in garter stitch.

    Bravo! I've been knitting 50+ years and I love it when someone comes up with a _simple_ answer to knotty questions. Thank you!

    Thank you, Stephen. I am making your Dustland Cardigan. I hadn't done short rows in your style before, and I just love it. I came here to learn how to see how you close the gaps, and I am just smitten with this technique. Thank you, again!🌷

    Omg if all short rows were this easy!! I hate wrap and turns. I wonder if you could substitute this in any pattern that calls for the standard wrap and turn? You are totally amazing!!

    Hey Stephen! Thanks for this tutorial. Do you have any recommendations on how to use this technique for stockinette? I'm having a beast of a time with a pattern that uses the same short-row technique. It asks to PU a stitch from the gap, and it's turning into gap city!

    • @ciannacoleman5125
      @ciannacoleman5125 Před 2 lety +1

      You probably already figured something out but I would suggest either wrap-and-turns or German short-rows. I have used both in stockinette and they turn out well with no gaps to speak of.

    Hi Stephen, So you dropped this into your Pierre Pullover pattern. For the short rows in the round, do I k2tog or do I ssk, when I'm closing the holes? Thank you for this.

    Check the Eunny Jang video on short row methods, for the Japanese short row. Very similar to this one, but totally smooth on both sides. This stitches on this one seemed to get big and loopy, and they were hard to see because of the choice of yarn.
