Taiidan Prisoner: Alright! I'll talk, I'll talk. Kushan Interrogator: See? What'd I tell ya. They always break. Kushan Officer: You just showed him a recording of your son singing. That's sad, dude. Kushan Interrogator: Point is it worked - now, tell us where the defenses are weakest! Taiidan Prisoner: Okay! Okay, there's a research station near an active supernova. Kushan Officer: Active? Like, currently exploding? Taiidan Prisoner: I don't know - hence the research station! Kushan Officer: Point. Taiidan Prisoner: There's a ton of radiation, so any ships defending it have to travel through dust clouds. Kushan Interrogator: What kind of ships are we talking about? Cruisers? Destroyers? Battle Dreadnoughts? Kushan Officer: Not a ship class. Kushan Interrogator: And it won't be until R&D takes a serious look at my drawings - now, tell us what we're up against! Taiidan Prisoner: Stop yelling, please! It's a light garrison, lightest in the Empire. Kushan Interrogator: That's what I like to hear. Taiidan Prisoner: Only like 50 frigates, five or ten heavies and a few dozen wings of fighters. Kushan Interrogator: That is NOT what I like to hear. Kushan Officer: That's a light garrison to you?! Taiidan Prisoner: We're an Empire! With hundreds of planets! Fifty ships is nothing! Kushan Interrogator: Wow, really puts our struggle into perspective, doesn't it? Kushan Officer: This is bad. Like, really, really bad. We're not going to be able to use fighters or corvettes at all. Kushan Interrogator: Aw, we'll figure it out. We got through the impossible nebula, we can do anything! We're the Kushan! Taiidan Prisoner: Wait, why'd you call yourself our ancient word for "morons"? Kushan Interrogator: MY SON MADE AN ALBUM, PAL. YOU JUST KEEP TALKING.
This was a really memorable mission to me for some reason. Maneuvering that big strikeforce of ships through the radiation gives me some weird desert raider vibe, crossing a void desert whilst braving the heat of the sun, intent on overwhelming an unsuspecting victim, hoping to find plunder.
I love how the Tai'Dan missile destroyers have their missle launchers deploy their arsenal from the sides. Very few Sci-Fi designs remember that your missiles launchers can face pretty much anywhere in space. Sadly, I got stuck on this mission in the original Homeworld, and I am again stuck on this mission in the remaster. Never beaten it... lol
I just managed to pull this off with a "flawless victory" managing to nab both the destroyers AND the heavy cruiser without losing ANY units aside from maybe a couple of heavy/multi gun corvettes. Man I tell ya I don't remember being able to pull that off as a 10 year old kid in 1999! 😂 Love the vids Dreamlands, can't wait for the hw3 era! 👍
Argh. Spent ages on this level trying to find a place where my harvesters could move from the dust clouds to a resource area without dying (there isn't one) Completely forgot about loading them into a carrier 🤦♂ Thanks for this excellent playthrough Dreamlands
It's been so long that I don't remember all that much of what happened previously, but it's still great to see. Just an excuse to rewatch the rest again, I suppose. Also, it's impressive how good the voice acting is on this game series. Even when you lose your ships there's still impressive variety in how they report it (guidance failure, fusion reactor breach, air pressure loss, armor penetration, etc). Though, despite them knowing everything about their ships they evidently can't tell when it's being destroyed by radiation.
I just finally got the Remastered editions once I found out that Homeworld 3 was on the way. I am currently on this mission actually. It is sooooo much better in HD with a non-glitchy computer!!!

Welcome to the channel mate:) Best bet for multiplayer is to join the discord servers i linked in my recent multiplayer videos. You will find many players to help you and join games with.
this mission is easy, just take time to complete. At first. Take stolen Taidan carrier(captured in mission 5) to clear mine fields and enemy spacecraft patrols(just lure them on the carrier and then take them out of the dust veins/clouds) radiation will kill them. Carrier has much more HP so it will survive. Then use salvage corvette to lure destroyers to the mothership and capture them(be careful! Destroyers are really close to the HC, dont lure all 3 ships, you will have troubles to capture them all at once). Then repeat with the heavy cruiser. When you clear your way to the research base. Take fleet to finish base and escaping carrier and end mission with your first Heavy Cruiser. Second you will get in the next mission Tenhouser gate
I couldn't beat this one, I don't have ships, and I don't have any money. I had the right idea though. At least I can watch the rest of your lets play. I actually thought this was the last mission because it was the last one shown on my campaign list.
The story continues! Hey Dreamlans could you possibly go into detail on the enemy ships like your own, I'd love to hear more lore. Btw did you ever get a chance to read that DOK fan fiction story I recommended on your last DOK multiplayer video? Anyway can't wait till the next mission.

"Salvagers"
You can leave Kharak but Kharak never leaves you
True story. They will always be salvagers to me
Klepto would be proud
The size of the garrisson for a "lighty defended" outpost of the Taiidan Empire really puts into perspective how enormously outgunned the Kushan were.
So true
And the "least defended Hyperspace inhibitor" of the Taiidan Empire had a 150 ion cannon frig sphere surrounding it.
