A bittersweet finale to the Scott's Stash Wii U Eshop saga, after starting with North America, then going to Europe, Japan, and back to North America.
All building up to the big retrospective soon :3
@@nintyfanr by the time that releases, Scott's stash will exceed the main channel in subscribers and I'm all for it
Wii U World Tour
Australia?
my heart is aching for a wii u episode for 2 hours now... it's 4 months later i'm still head aching for a delayed scott the woz new episode of 2023
Scott, it is no longer march 27th
He prob recorded this during march dumm boi
@@matthew_meepdumm boi
I misread this while skimming and thought it said "Scott, is no longer available march 27th" as if he got taken down like the eShop lol
Ya little late
@@walterbuschbacher1122your literally late to reply to this comment😐
4:34 Scott saying “Shovelware” just as Shovel Knight appears on screen is perfect
The 3DS video is nearly twice as long. That's a good representation of the difference between the two consoles tbh
I remember being pretty excited about the Wii U eshop in 2012. The ability to download full-sized games seemed cool since I never had a ps3 or 360. After the switch released, revisiting it felt lonely, like an abandoned place
Especially the miiverse plaza filled w generic mii’s, apps, and posts… feels like ur in a shoddy simulation of the past that’s just never gonna be there again
@@sinkaido i wish miiverse was ported to the switch instead of ended... i never really took advantage of miiverse with my wii u since i was too little and didnt know how it worked, i just used to post drawings on NSMB U about me beating the game on drawing random stuff on Super Mario 3DS, oh dude, good old times
you got a wii u instead of a ps3?
oof
the end of an era. the wii u was my first ever console, i got it for christmas in 2014 and could not stop obsessing over it. sad to see the wii u eshop gone. miiverse shutting down in 2017 had me in tears, here we are again 6 years later 🖤
It got it around the same time too, November 2014 😭
I got it after I moved into my house from my childhood one 😭😭
Very first console? That’d make you, what, 16-24 years old?
@@zues121510same here. My dad’# last gift to me before he passed. I will keep mine alive until the end of fuc****** time!!!
Thanks for makin me feel old geez
He said he would be dead before the WiiU eShop closed so idk what he’s doing here
Must be his obituary video.
He isn't.
What's he doing where? What are you talking about? Are you feeling ok, your talking nonsense

This was clearly recorded before it closed. Why do you think there's no more videos on the main channel?

Scott you missed out on the Silver Falls games. Balance Board support, asymmetrical multiplayer, minigames on the GamePad, enemies that can hear the GamePad if you turn the volume up... It is a single Developer masterpiece.
25:50 Let me explain a bit on this situation, the 3DS and Wii U were part of a Nintendo Developers Program, were you could enter some of your personal information, company information and then they would give you dev SDK, wich you can develop games with, ofcourse, that SDK only had some functions of those systems, to really develop a game you needed a game engine, and Nintendo gave support to Unity and Unity to Nintendo in 2013, as well as a web developers think (the recent news about Mario and Donkey Kong for browser), so the developing aspect was pretty open, i even entered with a fake company myself.
However, Nintendo recquired you to own a dev kit, something that costed up to $1000, and that stopped me (add tax and shipment to south america in my case, even more expensive), but not everyone, so many of these devs learned how to make games for the first time on Wii U, or atleast in a more real way, and some of these truly saw the potential of the gamepad and took years to develop the game, such as the case of Pad of Time (with space/time perspective differences between TV and gamepad) and Silver Falls (with the use of the gamepad like the Wii mote was used on Silent Hill Shatered Memories... or atlast that was the intention), much like the m8 that tried to upload a level in Super Mario Maker before the upload capability was removed (he took 7 years to beat the hardest stage and couldn't upload it), these devs wanted more time, and they had to hurry the releases, and lose money anyways because no one used the Wii U for the eshop anymore.
So there you have, these devs won my respect, but not my money as i'm a cheap-ass and barely pay for anything, but they do have my respect until they don't, it probably doesn't mean much really.
Also, the eshop closing destroyed free downloadable packs (dumb) and Lego Dimensions, because the figurines activated downloadable packs, so those figurines now are useless in the game, i will never play the Sonic level, atleast not on Wii U.
I love these classic pieces of my childhood Nostalgia being archived by you Scott. Thanks so much (:
“Nintendo’s gettin greeeedyyyyy” -10:28
Tbh, that clip was almost weirdly wholesome to me 😆
Nintendo was starting the greed, i remember how aweosome was the announcement for that game on one of those Nintendo competitions. I have to say, they could've done the same they did with Fire Emblem, to release it at $10 and then de-list it 6 months later, but that's the Nintendo we have now sadly.
18:52 scott watches Scott the Woz? I love that channel!
Three weeks later and this still breaks my heart. I miss the 3DS era. That is easily the most nostalgic console along with the GBA. Already been over 10 years since it released, still can’t believe that!
the wii u eshop is a certified hood classic

I love the theme song for the Wii U eShop
This “Scott the Woz” guy he brings up seems like a pretty good CZcamsr, I think I’ll check him out
Id be careful he starts a lot of drama. Took a guy to court for alleged murder one time
@@mangaprofilepicture5820 There was also the time he went to a funeral and was a total buzzkill. Like, c'mon dude, some people just need some evening entertainment after a long day of not eating a corn dog.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. This is the main channel now.
Always love the stash content!! Thank you for entertaining the community for all this time :)
I did my best to preserve the games on the Wii U eShop...
And boy... it was a lengthy process that involved so many hoops!
But I finally managed to save Fatal Frame 5 on Wii U... for now.
Also, Japanese eShop... especially Wii U... why did you get the better games!?
A lot of vc games got delisted well before the end of the wii u eshop, games like final fantasy tactics a2 for the ds was on there
I am glad we have Scott championing the 'games as art' cause :D
the wii u was my first consle this brought back so many good memories
Wott the Scozz
As a fan of the GBA and snes but totally okay with owning digital over physical for expensive older games - really wish I took the time out to get a wii u for its virtual console
25:06 it's a US thing, it appears how it does in the home menu in the EU eShop
I love Ducktales remastered, it was so much fun
8 years later still going for fuckin insane mode
I am sad for the eshop for 3DS closing because since ~2015 I will just pick it up every 6 months and play it passionately for like a month and often would buy new stuff
Scott pumps out so much stuff into this channel, you guys know we're getting a new Eshop series!!!
Hey Scott! Big fan here, and I was wondering if you would do a video on my favorite game Chibi Robo Ziplash. I love this game so much, and it would mean the world to me if you made a video sharing its praises to all of your fans!
When I got my 3DS, I decided I would dedicate it to Virtual Console games. I was born in '92 and when all my friends were playing with their Super Nintendos and Sega Genesis, I had my Dad's Atari 2600. Being able to play all DKC games portably still blows my mind. I will ALWAYS be a decade behind everyone else.
The European eShop on Wii U had several part of it break a couple of weeks before it closed, some even force closed the eShop.
The closure here wasn’t what you would call smooth….🙃
Wii U eShop > Switch eShop
I bought. Tekken Tag Tournament Wii U edition on the last day, and it’s a fun version.
Man’s having a full conversation with himself
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 Who?
I'll miss it even though i never really bought anything off it because i kept my wii with all the virtual console games and so i could play gamecube but was fun to scroll through it from time to time
Me you and the one other guy who bought a wiiu is really gonna miss this
This is like going to the graveyard digging up a corpse and only looking at it.
I love my WIIu still have it set up, use it to play alot of older titles, all be it hacked it, a severely underrated console.
The nice part is that you can have a hard drive full of home console Nintendo games of all generations and proper controllers hooked up to it (Wii, GC). The switch could never XD
This must mean Scott the Woz is returning soon!
if only the switch eshop didn't run at like, 2 fps
Rest in Peace Wii U eShop it’s been fun
34:59 YEEEEEEEEEESSSS CLUBHOUSE GAMES 52 WORLDWIDE CLASSICS
They put their last-gen handheld games on the current-gen console with DS Games on WiiU. That would be like them putting 3DS games on Switch. For 10 Bucks. Just imagine. I'd buy so many.
So sad that a lot of these games aren't officially available anymore.
I mean mostly people don’t go on it and buy anything anymore but I think what really sucks is now you don’t have the option when going back and discovering a series for the first time. Like just two years ago on the Wii U I bought Metroid Zero Mission before metroid dread came out, and rhythm heaven fever after getting into the series. Those games were expensive physically and the Wii U was the only legitimate way of getting them digitally. It sucks that I won’t have that option now when I discover a new series and won’t be able to go back and experience many previous games.
Just mod your Wii U
0:29 HATARAKUU YUU-FOOOOOOOH
The end of an era. Never had one during its hay day but I have one now just for preservation’s sake. Sleep well Wii U eshop.
19:57 Something I'll never understand is why if og Wii games could be sold in the Wii U e-shop did they not sell DS games in the 3DS e-shop? Not only would there have been no need for emulation, but it would probably work a lot smoother on a system that also has two screens.
Idk she's dead so who cares anymore I guess.
A lot of baffling choices were made with Virtual Console during the Wii U/3DS era...
The full Wario Ware Touch was available for download on DS, as well as some DSi, idk if Wario Ware was on DSi.
Also Picross 3D i think.
I remeber I went on the Wii U E shop on that Sunday night. Turns out the most popular game from the Eshop was Super Mario World
amazing ending
my god, a new video
7:49 The price increased as the game got more modes and stories, but anyone who owned it would keep getting the new content. It was a cool consumer-friendly marketing strategy that nearly convinced me to buy the game... sadly all I had to play it on was a 3DS and there was no coop in that, the main incentive for me to even buy a 2D platformer, so I never did.
This guy should collab with Scott the Woz
I am crying 😭😭😭
So glad I was able to buy a bunch of stuff before it closed
amazing
Man, I remember browsing this for the last time. Man, the reflection of my childhood made me realize i’m old.
I never used the eShop and never even had a Wii U, but here I am watching the whole video
Nice to see Scott paying respects to the Virtual shop of one of Nintendo’s biggest flops.
I wonder if the music will keep changing after the closure
22:33 or if you have a steam deck you could play res 4 the hd version or the remake lol.
Im sad that I never had a Wii U until last years. I have still hardly played it, but the 3DS and Wii U eras are over and I barely even touched the surface, despite owning a 3DS. I was only able to have a couple games as a kidz
this is a certified nostalgia classic
Scott scrolling right past the very final exclusive Wii U games, Silver Falls - Undertakers and Silver Falls - White Inside Its Umbra I developed in close cooperation with Nintendo, not even mentioning the games. How do I post a GIF of Frodo from the end of Fellowship of The Ring shedding a single tear?
Does Scott putting this out a month and a half after the Wii u eShop closed down mean that he will release his last Wii u video that he was talking about making on his main channel sometime soon?
I’m really mad, I was away at college when the closure was announced and didn’t make it back home to my WiiU until April 1. I was… an April fool.
Omg is that Scott
no
Nah, that's scatt
Mhmm I love wii u homescreen noise
One thing I hope Nintendo doesn't do for their next console is limit the amount of older games for their Online software from Launch to it's last legs. I was absolutely disappointed Nintendo started with even less games than on Wii U, let alone launching their shabby N64 emulator.
But if they bring over what they currently have with Switch Online (Could rename simply to Nintendo Online) & bring over GameCube games at launch (And/or DS games depending on what the next system is going to be) that would soften a lot of the blow from Switch Online & Nintendo's reputation somewhat. It would be great just transferring over your accounts & having the same games &/or save data on the next system, etc.
Will it happen though? Doubt it.
I personally never owned a Wii U, but seeing all the videos about it before it closed, and especially The Completionist's where he bought all the games, it makes me sad that it's now gone.
Can’t wait for the day when Scott uploads “browsing for some bitches on tinder one last time”
the final Fat Tuesday
If I ever get a Wii U, I'm gonna mod it and get all the games on it that were lost when the eshop closed. It's the least I can do for not appreciating this era of Nintendo as much as I should've.
The only stuff that had me happy with the Wii U when i had no Switch was them updating Shovel Knight, releasing Turbografx16 games and the last games, Cars 3, Darksiders, etc. Then it was 3DS still getting stuff, while Wii U got some weird fan games every 3 months, until it got the Switch in late 2018, but at the time i got into retro-collecting and Wii U games were CHEAP, so to this day the Switch is still tossed to the side sadly.
Nowadays, what's still existing that works on Wii U that's official... amiibo, i think.
I bought one game on the wiiU Eshop and my mom was worried that it was a scam 😂
Ah yes the two genders: Gamers and Everyone
Despite a lot of the wii u problems this game was the peak of the real Nintendo
i need this song name in the beginning i swear i played this game before
8:51 How are all those games on sale? I checked the shops every day until they died and first party nintendo games never went on sale. HOW?!
They weren’t “on sale”. It was a discount you were given if you already bought the VC game on the Wii. Scott even says in this video you could still play them on your Wii page, or buy it on the WiiU at discount to save a step in the process.
Personally, I thought $1-$2 was a reasonable/fair offer by Nintendo to carry your past purchases over. And if they’d’ve done that for the WiiU->Switch, I’d’ve happily paid the “transfer fee” again!
@@taffypool654 There was a sale m8, Capcom, Wayforward and others did a giant sale before the closure, atleast on NA. They also started gifting codes, Nintendo extended the period to get them for a few days, many indie developers including Wayforward again, imagine getting free Shantae (i got Woah Dave free because someone gifted the code to me on Miiverse back in the day).
REST IN POWER, Wii U eShop!! The end of an era. Enjoy the last purchase of this goldmime, Scott!!
Online Play service it's the one lasting on Wii U, when it dies, the Wii U will officially die, and yet the new Nintendo Console will born.
I still cannot believe they didnt do one last sale for the WiiU and 3DS eshop. Such a missed oppertunity
Hey Scott have you never played the StarTropics games? You could probably make a good video about them.
Says shovelware as Shovel Knight is on screen....
i forgot 2 get just two games though i have em on the 3DS, if Nintendo brought back the Wii, Wii U and 3DS virtual console, back just 4 a few dayz i would probably spend so much money again !
The Wii U walked so the Switch could run
Well, more like limped but still i enjoyed mine
Besides feeling a little sad... I have modded my Wii U so still can download every content (with some cool tool) that can't have time to save money to buy, but this will over the day that they close totally the store, that day you will not be able to download anything you purshased. When will come that day? I think less than a 2 years or maybe a few months after the release of the new console.
10 months later and now the online services will end for Wii u and 3ds
The biggest thing about the Wii virtual console was that certain titles like nobody Chronicles would allow you to play using the gamepad. So you didn't have to have any kind of classic controller setup or anything, you don't even need the Wii remote. One of the most annoying things about the Wii in the Wii u was that you had to select the game with the Wii remote.
In the small amount of time I used both the 3ds and Wii U eshop, they felt less laggy than the Switch eshop. It’s sad that they’re gone
Why doesn't Motoroader have a virtual console boarder?
The eShop closed on my birthday. I shall honor it.
It closed 1 day after my birthday. I honor it too
@@Bond101Studios aye birthday neighbors!
Wii U might be the only Nintendo console I've never even seen in person. I skipped Nintendo after the N64 until I got a Switch last year (I'm a PlayStation guy)...so in that time if I played something on Nintendo it came from a friend of mine or through an emulator. But literally no one I knew had a Wii U, so I've never even physically seen one.
I'm literally the only person who's everyone in their family has a Wii U with me being the last one to get it lol. I got it relatively recently used and it rocks.
I have one "friend" that got one recently for no reason lol
This is Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Sad! 😢😭😭😭😭😭
Everyone in the Menu is So Happy! They don’t Even Know the Eshop Will Die!
I remembered the virtual console video and him saying that Nintendo was being lazy with releasing classic games but I feel like we should accept Wii U virtual console cus the switch doesn’t have that
neat
The day that Nintendo close the Switch eShop will be nothing sad and nostalgic to feel, it will be a "normal" day.
I saw a tank tank tank arcade machine recently, that was interesting
