I'm so jealous of New Zealand gardeners! The weather is SO perfect for veggie gardens. I'm in Australia and the dry heat is always a battle in the summer. When I visited NZ this year I saw some of the most beautiful and prolific gardens I've ever seen. It makes me want to move there purely so I can have a beautiful home garden 😆😆 I'm living vicariously through you and this content!!

You're doing great, especially for a first timer! You totally remind me of me when i first started out. I started out with pots too and then went to raised garden beds which the veggies do grow better in, especially the tomatoes. However I still grow certain things in pots, mostly because I am renting, but its also a space saver when you are wanting to grow so many different things. Gardening is such a rewarding hobbie and the excitement of seeing your hard work coming to life. Though its definitely a learn as you go kind of process and each year I find I learn something new still. But it's well worth it! Enjoy the fruits of your labour!

I grow all my herbs in pots. They are soooo easy to grow. I can't believe how expensive they are in supermarkets
Have you looked into vertical veggie gardens…where they use like pvc pipes. They look pretty amazing and don’t overly take up much space.

When we had a garden we grew tomatoes and eggplants and sage and mint.

the forgetting names of people thing is a common trait of ADHD, (i have it and get where you're coming from) unless i've made a good connection on first meeting a person for the first time (over whatever topic) i will continue to forget their name.
My doctor and I believe I may have adhd. It feels like my brain never shuts off. I’ll start one thing then move to 5 other things and never finish any of them and I can’t remember anything I had no idea that’s a trait if adhd. I also lose things so easily. I was diagnosed with bipolar and anxiety but no meds are working and I feel like the meds I’m on make some of my symptoms worse.
Yeah, thought the same when she mentioned P changing his mind often, as I’ve often wondered if Shannon has undiagnosed ADHD, and it is genetic so P changing his mind often made sense IMHO.
I suck at facial recognition and recalling names, then feel so rude for it. Have to remind myself it’s part of my ADHD, and not me not caring about people. 😅
Im the same way with my hydroponics! I have been able to have a few small salads from it so far! It grows so fast. Happy gardening 👩🌾

A carrot tip, plant them directly in the ground. Don't start them indoors. When they start growing, you will thin them out. Meaning pull every other one so they can get to full size! In kentucky, i dont harvest them until fall because letting them get a few days, week of cold makes them sweeter!
Oh the meltdowns over the smallest things are the worst! Gave my daughter the wrong colour cup a few times (when she was younger) and oh my gosh never again. Every time she wanted a drink after that I would ask which cup. Also them wanting to do things that we know isn't safe like, holding a sharp knife or crossing the road when a car is coming. They just don't understand that we are saying no because it's harmful for them.
As for the strawberry flowers losing petals, yup totally normal it means it's growing into the berry :)

I grew ginger in a pot. I literally just got a piece from the super market and kept it in the sun inside my house coz it loves heat. ( I'm in the south island so ...ya know...)
and it sprouted like palm type shoots. it looks so pretty. and when u want some to harvest you literally just pull what you need out like potatoes ... and wah-lah 😄👍🏼

My 14 months old started his tantrums a couple of months ago. Everything ticked him off in the first couple of day, I had no idea what was happening and thought he was teething 😂 we practice gentle parenting + distraction, now he only has a small tantrum once every couple of days and calms down quickly. Some kids tantrums will get significantly worse before getting better, and some never really tantrums. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for the later 😂😂 good luck and looking forward to your updates!
Potatoes grow amazing in pots you can get special bags for easy harvesting etc .

I don't retain iron so I'm very anemic I have to take a very high dose of iron supplements everyday with a tall glass of orange juice. It can be a real pain because it dose feel like I have had the life sucked out of me.
Yep it temporally the having melt downs stops at about 17 yrs lol 😂 his discovering choices is normal and so are the meltdowns be consistent with the no otherwise if you give in once the next time he dose the same thing and you say no he will tantrum it’s not easy but setting boundaries is really good for toddlers ❤
My son is 17 months and I feel like we are in the same stage as you rn, some days are harder then others 😅

Hey Shan! I have a turning 16 months old and he STILL gives me the headache with the tantrums. Sometimes I feel like he’s playing with his life, he wants to run towards running cars,running around on the couch (almost breaking a neck) etc. Hang in there momma,we’re all in this together!😂☺️
I have a 1 1/2 year old too and my god he is haaaard work, happy as 90% of the time but will crack it in 0.5seconds if he doesn’t get what he wants, reacts so quick then thinks about it and realises he’s actually algood 🫢😂 talk about draining
