- After Riding out an epic 73 mph blizzard in my cozy van, stranded in deep snow covered roads & Surviving the most Severe Blizzard of my Life, I return to my Arctic Tour. I head east and north again past ice covered fjords and oceans, past snowy canyons and lonely arctic plains. I end up in a snow storm again and ride in a convoy across the notorious arctic mountain plateau where I spent the record-breaking rain and thunder storm in my red tent, hunkering down among arctic cliffs a few years earlier. I end the day by driving through and absolutely massive, huge blizzard with the most heavy snowfall I have ever driven in my van life and then doing a pizza experiment fail. Enjoy my Arctic winter!
Part of the series:
Surviving my First Arctic Winter of Extreme Van Life. Solo in Hurricanes, Blizzards, Snow Storms & Camping in Extreme Cold Freezing Temperatures.
#vanlife #blizzard #snowstorm
My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapalitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America - USA and Canada, but with a diesel engine.

Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life, Blizzard, Snow Storm Camping & Freezing Cold which includes:
This is my complete second winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in November I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from November to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learn as I go from my second winter in the van.
About me: I am a Norwegian adventurer and wilderness explorer. My youtube channel focus on outdoor wilderness adventures and exploration, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, skiing, climbing and mountaineering. Nights spent in a tent, alone or with friends. Have the same stove top oven ~ pro-tip ~ "bake" the dough for about 10 mins first, and then add the sauce, cheese & toppings ~ bake for another 7-10 minutes (until melted) ~ wallah ~ good stuff
Thank you for taking the time to show all the beautiful scenery ! Unlike most of the other CZcamsrs that spend most of their time cooking !
Glad you enjoyed it Michael!
And no incessant talking!
I concur.
Thank you for not turning this into a cooking channel!
Liked the one where the guy went up a mountain to cook some cheeseburgers😆
Totally enjoy your trips in winter. It is very BEAUTIFUL THANKYOU! for sharing . LOVE IT😊
Thank you so much Christine!
You're probably my most favourite CZcams camper channels. Came across your channel a few weeks ago, and I have been enthralled with your winter Arctic adventures. Loved this video as i do with most of your content.
Thank you for bringing us your wonderful content. It is through your hard work and efforts that we get to see beautiful Scandinavian winter's in their extreme. I think i say all this on behalf of all your fans and channel supporters. Sending you my best for your present and future travels. Stay safe and healthy. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you so much and welcome to the channel Michael!
Braving the elements in such extreme conditions is truly awe-inspiring! Your ability to capture the serene beauty of a blizzard while showcasing the cozy and resilient aspects of van life is remarkable. The HDR footage brings the experience to life, and your drone shots add an exhilarating perspective to the vast winter landscape. It’s incredible to see how you embrace the challenges of winter camping with such enthusiasm. Keep up the great adventures, and thank you for sharing this frosty journey with us! ❄️🚐🌨️
Thank you so much my friend!
Well said!
I totally agree 👍💯

Thank you for all the hard work you put in to these videos, and showing us beautiful scenery that a lot of us will not see first hand. Best wishes from Bonnie Scotland
Thank you Bonnie🙏
@@NorwegianXplorer You might want to learn about 'Bonnie Scotland'. 😊 I don't believe that is this person's name.
I am currently doing very little research into what people call themselves on YT
@NorwegianXplorer 😂😂
love the music with the scenery, it's really meditative!
Awesome, thank you!
This is amazing. Stayed in Drobak such a beautiful country.
The light from the Plowtruck in the far distance in nice💡🗻 thx for a new vid.
Glad you enjoyed it
I read Norway is one of the richest countries in Europe, almost always on top of the list of being the happiest country in the world, most all the electric power comes from hydro power plants, a little comes from wind, and solar many places have these charging stations where EV's can get charged... But also has off shore oil platforms and a big fishing industry, and where the world seeds are stored... A very beautiful country with a small population and not really large cities Oslo metro just over a million people... In America we have huge cities like New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and many others...I really like your videos thanks for sharing...
Thanks Robert, we all have our struggles, Norway has a lot of beauty, but it is all up for grabs now, and is being destroyed with extreme speed by the greedy corporate powers that hide behind the renewable slogan and seemingly "Norwegian" names. Norway might be the greatest nation on earth for greenwashing, so everything is not as cheerful as it may sound sadly. But I will enjoy it and try to show anyone who cares to watch for as long as we have it:-)
@@NorwegianXplorerI like your explanation of what’s going on. Wow the peaceful scenery is so beautiful. Thanks for the drive to Stock Market mountain.
That was a harrowing drive. Thanks for taking us along to see what driving in a blizzard can be like.
Glad you enjoyed it!
And by night
Hello! Beautiful landscape.Very interesting and nice video.Thanks a lot.Regards😊

👋Hey there Norwegian Xplorer,
Once again, another beautifully captured & produced video to share.
I'm always enthralled by your cinematography skills, your drone footage & pretty much everything that your videos have to offer.
I feel as though I'm drifting away to some faraway land & I feel so relaxed & @ peace within.
I absolutely love your music! You are a true artist in varying ways. Your cinematography skills combined with your brilliant music, all make for a truly wonderful & evocative video to enjoy.
This was enjoyable to watch.
Tusen takk & peace✌

What can I say another great film. Your turning me and the wife into Eskimos we are getting used to the cold keep it up amazing....
Great to hear!
Incredible drive through the dark. I want to know the Norwegian snowplow drivers!! Exhaling a sigh of relief when you find a place to park! And, thank God, you got to eat at the end!

The music is mystical. It fits the scenery as one. It's almost a dream that's real. It's hard to describe what I feel when watching and listening. Thank you, take care, be safe, keep on keeping on!
Thank you Candy really appreciate it!
I completely agree
Some people are adventurists while others stay close to home. You appear to be an adventurist so I subscribed. Where you are seems like a huge ice cube, brrr!

My body and heart ‘stilled’ when I watched the views you filmed. It has been a long time since I felt that. And I still recognise how very small we all are on this beautiful planet upon which we exist. You have bought us that connection in this video. Thank you and take care. ✨

My friend, you did extremely well driving through the snowstorm. At one point I lost the road completely and could only see white. Sandra UK
Yeah it was pretty wild lol
What a wild drive Karl!! Have to once again applaud those tires!
Good tires indeed
I’m sorry, I just noticed a typo! Autocorrect changed Jarl to Karl! Sorry about that. I didn’t notice.
@@goldfinger180024 Haha, no worries my friend!
I remember that video where you said you were a little nervous. That was an epic rainfall. This video is epic too as is all your videos. Here in the states we get weather like that all the time but, it's nice to see how people in other countries handle it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was an awesome video. I always like to imagine that I am a passenger on some of your trips. This one was scary and exciting. When the snow storm turned into almost whiteout conditions and you were driving on those high mountain roads, I kept wondering if you would find a place to pull over and stop, but there weren't any safe places. Most of the time it looked like rounding a bend was too close to possibly going off the mountain. I was really glad when you made it to that bridge and parked. Too bad the pizza didn't meet expectations, though. Thank you for taking the time to do the video. It was one of the best.
Thanks Janet!
The CZcams thumbnails are works of art 👍 Nicely done sir
Thank you kindly🙏
Well done. Watching this in desert of Morocco
Thanks
Always my best wishes my friend
Same to you!
Mesmerizing
Thanks
You’re not joking about how snow like that messes with your eyes and mind when driving in snow like that. It doesn’t help either that in conditions like that you’re afraid to blink your eyes because even a fraction of a second not watching the roads can end in disaster. Hope you have some eye drops because I’m sure you’re eyes are dry from not blinking combined with the van’s heat and defrost blowing in your face all day long.
It sure can be confusing to the head
I enjoyed every minute !
Awesome, Thanks!
Hey Jarl 😊 i found you on CZcams, better your CZcams video found me 😅 and i'm looking now your video by video... I would never do this, but its exciting to follow you 😊 in September we are going on vacation to Norway 🎉 our first time... I can barely wait for it 😎 Greetings from germany 🇩🇪 and thank you for letting us beeing part of your adventures🙋🏻♀️
Awesome! Thank you and welcome!
Hi Jarl amazing video again not sure about the pizza though thanks Lee ❤🇬🇧
Me neither Lee
Thanks! Always look forward to your videos brother,Todd
Thank you my friend🙏
Convoys, a great idea and we should use them here in the U.S. Particularly out West. I can't believe how crazy fast y'all were driving in the snow!! I didn't see any sand of salt on the road either. Man, I live in New Hampshire, have driven on ice/snow for 50yrs and would never go as fast as you guys were. But hey, no accidents or spinning off the road, so all is well. :>) Party on.
It was a bit fast I agree, it is too cold for salt and the dry cold ice has much more friction than warmer ice. Convoys are used a lot here, but there is a limit to the amount of cars that can go at the same time
Although you were guided into a convoy, this was a very periculous trip, at night, in this immense whiteness, road-edges quasi invisible, and vicissitudes of weather conditions, of incertain accessibility of the roads.... But, as a brave explorer you go through all of it, with a smile.... And certainly I do remember that rain- and thunderstorm in august 2022, extremely scaring !! 😀 I always loved your tefal-pan-dishes, you are a master in it. The Christmas-gift of your sister, isn't it rather a cake-form ? A pizza-form is much lower, 3 cm, and round without a hole in the middle.... But, the result was tasty, and you ate it with appetite... - So, that was february... I wonder, dear Jarl, where you are now actually. And i'm looking forward to your exploring of the Far West in september..... and of course to next saturday with new adventures.... 💙 ❄
Thank you Regine, I am still in the snow
We in Belgium had frost at night, which destructed fruit- and wine-yards, and showers of hail. In Croatia there was snow after having 30 degrees Celsius of heath.... Curious evolution of climate.... What weather zre you going to show us next time.... More snow ?
@@reginebilliet2679 Yes, much ore snow🙂
Your photography is beautiful Thankyou for taking us along on your amazing adventure most of us will never experience such a wonderland of snow and ice .Your a true adventurer even blizzards don't stop you I for one would be scared to death to attempt such a journey ,Stay safe and warm ♥♥watching from Canada
Thank you so much, greetings Canada!
Awesome travel Jarl. Try baking just the dough for 5-6 minutes then add toppings. See ya on the next one
Thanks for the tip Butch, might try that:-)

Heyy Jarl I enjoy watching your adventures but for me I would be pulling my hair out I hate snow, glad you made it through thanks for sharing stay safe
Snow is the best Sonia!
Music is perfect! Never been on a convoy. Thank you for the tag-a-long. That was scary/cool!
Glad you enjoyed it
I love to be in transit especially when you do the driving; ha.
I am happy to hear that:-)
I've just started watching, and I am really enjoying the beautiful sunshine. The storms are exciting, but you can't really tell how beautiful your country is until the glorious sun shines. Ok, now I'll get ready for the storm.😊
Haha, enjoy!
The Pizza Fail suspense had me on the edge of my seat 😂 Nice change up with the camping footage in-between, scary lightning 🌩 storm. very impressed with how well your snow tires handle those snow/ice conditions. Another amazing trip! Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much my friend!
I just watched that rain video a couple of days ago! Scary! 😮
Yes, it was:-)
This is so intense. It is gorgeous and hard to imagine that y’all actually have to travel on roads that snowy. I would definitely have to do it sound asleep because of the roads themselves. I believe I watched this camping trip. It’s beautiful watching the road in the dark and the snow is looks very smooth. I guess you’ll go til they won’t go anymore. Kinda glad it’s dark cause I don’t have to see all the hills and mountains. It’s just amazing that they drive in into the night. At least there’s someone behind you. Thanks for taking us along on this great journey. It is beautiful in your country. ❤️❤️
Thank you so much Anne
Beautiful just amazing
Thank you so much 😀
That is the weirdest oven I've ever seen! It looks like an angel food cake baking mold.
It is quite well known actually
@@NorwegianXplorer have you had any luck getting a crisp crunchy crust yet?
@@stanleylogan7139 Nope, only tried once though
What an epic journey we were able to share and what invaluable people are those who lead the convoys. The valley and its slot gorge were particularly impressive.
Yeah, that canyon was pretty cool
Awesome video Jarl. Take care bro💪🏼
Thanks my friend!
I bet you could find a small round flat pan and use with the top and the oven would work just great. I think it is the top that holds the heat to make it an oven.
Yes, but it needs to around that hole in the middle, so this is not the best way to make a pizza, I could of course just get one of those rock pans to put on the stove, but i wanted to test the Omnia.
1:08 - Northern Lights right at the beginning - love 'em.
Definitely winter most anywhere in February. I doubt I blinked as you were driving in that storm.
Warm Regards in far away Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.
It was hard on the eyes there for a while Bill! Lol, still winter here I am in the mountains now, but spring winter soft slush snow
@@NorwegianXplorer We have nice weather here in Reno. I hand washed my car yesterday. Will add a coat of polish & sealer later this afternoon.
Added front seat covers & wind/rain window deflectors to all for door windows last month as well as detailing the car's interior. Changed oil & filter last week & checked all fluid levels.
FWIW - back in September 2023, I was involved in an auto accident - no witnesses, no police report. Thankfully, my dashcam, conclusively proved the other driver caused the accident & their insurance paid the $4,576 to repair my car.
I am glad you had that dashcam and that you where ok my friend! I also had my van in for service this week, oil change, filters etc etc, I have a problem with check glow plugs warning that we are trying to figure out, changed the relay but still got the warning, so will have to look more into that in a week or so
OMG it's truely like stepping into another world, even those clouds are so different to what we get here in New Zealand. Its 2am here and its still warm so Love and appreciate the vast difference. Thanks again. Mauri Ora !
Thank you, have a good night, is Mauri Ora a greeting?
@@NorwegianXplorer "Mauri Ora" is from the Maori language(I'm half Maori and combination of Scottish and Irish, what a mix lol), and it's an expression we often use to send you a balance of life force, vitality, good health and the power of nature. Mauri Ora !!

Please consider going to Stave, Lista! Much appreciated. My family is from there and had a tiny village store for the few. Germans had a big military airport there during WW2. My grandfathers barn was used to imprison captured Russian soldiers. It was a very stressful time my father told me. He was just a kid and snuck food to the starving prisoners.

Thank you dear friend, the convoy ends at the end of that mountain plateau called Ifjord mountain, after that you get down to the ocean for a bit and then you climb another smaller mountain where the blizzard was at its worst. Difficult but quite safe because of the low speed, the snow by the roadside and no traffic
Great video as always Jarl! I loved that bridge. I've never seen one like it. I was biting my nails with worry when you were driving in that snowstorm.
