I found this old interview of John Maus from 2011 on a website so I thought I'd upload it to CZcams. I don't own this all credit goes to Minnesota public radio www.thecurrent.org/feature/201...
In addition, I think regarding the idea of "the gays" he advocates for the concept of group identity being abolished, as it is a product of the system of power. He would rather see a return to the individual identity (ie. "There are are many sexes are there are people"). Truly a beautiful man.
I think it's a facetious way of him actually saying that people will repeat a mindless platitude like "rights for gays" while not having any concept of what they or anyone means by it.
Interesting. I love Jesus Christ and music. I agree with you guys, lets reach out to one another and make art!. Can someone tell me what he means in the last song? Sounds cool.
I never had an idol before... Then I heard John maus music!!!! What a brilliant and pure mind
He sometimes so stressed in interviews
Yeah he seems kind of freaked out at first. I love this dude, such a beautiful mind - new fan here!
JM is #1 on my list of people I must have a conversation with before I die. I fully fucking get you brother
Interview starts around 2:47
I couldn't love him any more
Brilliant, thank you! Such a hero.
6:40 beautiful explanation of a beautiful song :)
I don't think people really understand what he's trying to communicate with rights for gays. His introduction to the song is genius.
Wow this version of Believer is almost twice as fast, still great though!
great interview!
I love him
thanks friend!
We are thee invisibles, oh yeah!
this version of do your best (live? I think) at the beginning is so good fuck
Could someone explain exactly what John means at 6:40 when he says he doesn't believe in human rights or gays? He is very complex.
GeneralJoystick I think he's talking about how you should remove rights all together thus forcing everyone to be the same if that makes sense.
ah, okay. That makes the most sense, thanks.
