Monaco that team looking too weak for the european top had like a amazingly sad race. Qualified for the knockout stages at the last day with an incredible victory against Coruña (8-3). Reached the quarterfinals for an anthology confrontation against Real Madrid which after losing the first game 4-2, won the second one 3-1 against all odds and finally sent off Real. They sent off Chelsea in semi-final and joined Porto in final. For their whole race, they deserved to win, but like life is a bitch Porto was too strong and Monaco wasn't helped by quickly losing their best player and captain Giuly on injury. Life is cruel, life is a bitch, and that's for reaching the final by overthrowing mountains that Monaco, despite its final defeat, was amazing. Anyway a big thanks to Monaco and Porto for that amazing season and final. Unfortunately, no risk of seeing again this kind of stuff.

+ThaRealDonBarbarian Nuno Gomes wasnt a Porto player, never was. He was a Fiorentina, and Benfica player. Porto had those you mention before but also had Paulo Ferreira, Derlei, Benny Mcahrty, Carlos Alberto, Aleinitchev, Costinha, Nuno Valente, Pedro Mendes and jorge costa( in the bench had like jorge andrade as well. And yeah Guly was realy the main threat from Monaco, but with or without it. I think Porto had more options and better team as a whole when you look at it. Imo. For example, they were replaying a position, then stopping the video, moving the camera about 180 degrees around the pitch, then continue the replay. I can't be the only one remembering that, where can I find that footage? That was the coolest camera technique I've ever seen in football. They never used that technique ever since.

Nuno Gomes wasnt a Porto player, never was. He was a Fiorentina, and Benfica player. Porto had those you mention before but also had Paulo Ferreira, Derlei, Benny Mcahrty, Carlos Alberto, Aleinitchev, Costinha, Nuno Valente, Pedro Mendes and jorge costa( in the bench had like jorge andrade as well.
And yeah Guly was realy the main threat from Monaco, but with or without it. I think Porto had more options and better team as a whole when you look at it. Imo. Fun fact Costinha used to be team captain for Monaco and champion ( if im not mistaken), and Ibarra used to play for Porto in seasons before this one.

Does anyone remember the special camera effects they used when broadcasting this match? For example, they were replaying a position, then stopping the video, moving the camera about 180 degrees around the pitch, then continue the replay. I can't be the only one remembering that, where can I find that footage? That was the coolest camera technique I've ever seen in football. They never used that technique ever since.

One of the most memorable match was when the tiny Monaco overturned the gross surplus by Real madrid in what I believe the almost impossible second leg away at San Barnebeau. I will always remember that moment when Real Madrid lost their aggregate. However Porto was magnificent. Under Maurinho they marched on to win the title. What a season.
