I am a train driver in Düsseldorf in Germany and we have an ATO system from the 80s Our oldest trains still use ist and they are almost always on point. Sadly they are switching to the Siemens Train Guard MT system so we will be completely driving manually soon.
Btw our system will close the doors while the startbutton is pressed and will release the doors again if the correct stop position is reached.
The reason you have the gradients in and out of the stations is because the line was originally cable driven and the trains were fitted with a clutch that gripped onto the cable system. The gradients helped with breaking and reduced the strain on the cable system.
That's history right there!!
@@QwertyAfro Indeed, it's certainly a unique system with a lot of hidden secrets!
In my 7 years of watching I've never knew you were a Elizabeth Line Train Driver
Well I have only been one for like 3/4 years
@@QwertyAfro ok
Fun fact. The opening you see in the tunnel at 7:55 used to be Merkland Street station and is the only abandoned station on the Glasgow Subway. It was closed permanently when the network was upgraded in the late 1970s and replaced by Partick station when the subway reopened in 1980.
GLASGOW SUBWAY YESSSS
Our system also our ATO will arive at like 30mph and I am on the manual trains alowed to go maximum 24mph in Stations. But Ill break later to compensate. So on a good day, i can be as fast as our ATO (LZB=Linien Zug Beeinflussung=train line regulation)
I’m 6 foot 3 and I don’t feel cramped! You have to duck getting on but isn’t all that bad inside. Plus you usually get a carriage to yourself!
yh near the doors is the main issue, its good in the middle or once sat down
You need to leave the traction-brake controller in Parallel all the time when doing ATO driving. Press Start upon departing, and the ATO will do everything, except opening the doors at stations. A thing you missed by using a workshop scenario is the announcement system, which only works in career scenarios.
I thank you for the essential info I was lacking in :D
@@QwertyAfro You can also try manual driving, it's more fun IMHO. Speed is still restricted so the only mistake you can make in manual is overshooting (and SPAD of course). At 54 km/h you start braking at 12 yards (I guess? Units confuse me) before the station, and upon entering if you are doing 35. It's a fun route for me, even if there's hardly anything to see other than tunnels.
Most drivers now have it on series
omg he uploaded a video for the first in forever jk
Do you like being a lizzy line driver. I love the way it was built and the fact that it looks so European in comparison to other TFL lines. I would drive trains for nothing lol absolute love being around em
I did enjoy my time but defiantly prefer doing more mainline intercity currently
Where have you been lately you haven’t made many videos
This is literally my 5th video in the last few weeks since I have been back more regularly :)
Can you play scr agajng
You can drive the 345 on airlink
it will come at some point sooner than later 😉
are you a subway driver
No he is a Elizebeth line driver. It’s a line much like a mainline railway however it goes through the middle of London through the core section
