  • If you guys are interested, Sled Shed bike shop has a Medium and a Large 2021 Trek Slash 8 in stock right now. Go to www.sledshedshop.com for contact information.
    I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of the 2021 Trek Slash for quite some time now. Now that it’s here Im happy to give you my first look/first impression opinions.
    Is it a better all mountain trail/ enduro bike than the Trek Remedy or Trek Fuel Ex? I’m excited to get some more time on it but the first impressions are promising.

    Cheers for review. I’ve had a few previous versions of the slash 8 the new 21 looks a winner on paper. Liking all the updates with bike especially the knock block 2.0, threaded BB etc. Colour way looks the goods also. Bday and Xmas just around the corner thinking I might just spoil myself....

      The Fuel EX is so much fun! Since that frame came out for 2020 I doubt we will see a refresh until at least 2023. I was really surprised to see frame storage on the Slash alloy frame.

    for reference what's the frame size and your height bro? im almost 5'6 is medium size slash good for my height? btw according to their website medium is for 5'3-5'7 also i have my 2014 remedy size small it feels very small for me right now the reach is 14.4 the slash is just +4 inches i think it will be good for me cause i look a t-rex on attack position cause the reach is too short.

    Hey mate, I’m keen to know ur opinion on to whether the remedy will undergo some changes for next years model, the 2022 one? I’ve put a deposit down for a remedy and not sure if I should stick with it or go for the slash 8?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  Před 3 lety

      I haven’t heard anything about a new Remedy yet. Typically they don’t let dealers/media know until a couple weeks before the general public. The fact that the Remedy was redesigned for 2019, I don’t expect a new one until the 2023 model year or later given what Trek has done in the past. In terms of which one is right for you, it depends on your style, they are very different bikes.

    What damper is it in that Lyrik Select+? Is it charger 2.1 or motion control? Trek website spec says motion control but never seen any Lyriks like that. Rockshox spec lists either charger 2.1 for ultimate and select+ and charger for select. Which is it then? Thanks

    I have a 2021 Fuel EX 8 ordered, slated to arrive in November. I'm very tempted to switch to a Slash 8 and need advice.
    I'm NOT a great rider and will likely never do any racing. I'm just a slightly overweight 54-year-old riding on trails for fun and to get back in shape. My rides consist of going fairly slowly overall then struggling to make it up the big hills. I'm currently just riding to increase my fitness. I DO NOT zing down hills like I see in all the videos because I smacked a tree once already and know how dangerous hitting them can be. So probably the Fuel EX is a better fit.
    BUT... (A) I really want that threaded bottom bracket because of pressfit horror stories. (B) Also these videos keep saying the new Slash climbs well, so maybe I'd hardly notice it being any more sluggish or hard to pedal up hills or on the level than the Fuel EX (???). (C) Although I've never heard anyone speak to this, I AM currently a tad hefty (6', 245 lbs.), so maybe I'd benefit from more suspension travel to keep my fat ass from bottoming out.
    I'm wondering if this new Slash is sufficiently close to the Fuel EX that I might as well go for the Slash or if I really am better off with the Fuel EX. Thoughts?

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s something Ive pondered myself. The Fuel feels lighter and more agile and is overall more efficient. The Slash is efficient for what it is. At slower speeds it feels almost too calm compared to the Fuel. For some this might be boring and for others comforting. The Fuel is poppy and gives great trail feedback while the Slash is very plush. The Slash is more bike than you need but that really doesn’t matter if a very calm plush bike sounds appealing. The position may be more comfortable as well as the bars are higher than the Fuels in stock set up. Test ride one if you can. You’ll get frame storage on the aluminum Slash as well.
      I really love my Fuel. It makes all trails fun and feels light and efficient but there’s no doubt that the Slash is calmer and plusher.

    • @stephenmcnutt
      @stephenmcnutt Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your taking the time to thoroughly answer. I think a test ride is the only real answer, as you suggested, but it's unlikely I'll be able to get one during these strange times. I'm still thinking the Fuel EX is the right bike for me. If the Fuel had a threaded BB, I don't think I'd be so torn.

  • @twosencefromcleveland6084

    About the bb. Just come out and say it. They can't control the diameter of thr frame. My Remedy right side is cut too large; you can push the bearing out with your fingers and sealant must be used to get 4 months use; ridiculous! And shop nor factory will help.

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  Před 3 lety

      Go to a better shop or email Trek directly. That’s a rare issue but like I said in the video, threaded BBs are less susceptible to manufacturing errors. If it was like that when it left the factory Trek should be able to help (as long as you are the original owner)

    • @WildOutdoorLiving
      @WildOutdoorLiving  Před 3 lety
