I was never a Mario x Meggy shipper, but given their interaction during the Anime Arc, I can see why some people ride that ship. Honestly, if SMG4 Mario ever gave up his pasta fetish, and had a romantic relationship with anyone, I think it would be Meggy.

And this resulted in both of them being more mature to each other, caring for each other, Meggy being easier on Mario, and Mario quitting his spaghetti-humping addiction and regaining some of the IQ he lost when SMG4 came.
