From someone who was given up by my bio mother and passed around in foster care until I was placed with my adoptive parents at almost 5 years of age, you women did the right thing. I was blessed to be raised by both a mother and father who gave me a better life than my single mentally ill jobless poor mother could ever have given me. I got to talk to 2 of my 3 half siblings who were raised by her for part of their childhoods and they both had horribly neglectful upbringings and were abused and never got the love and discipline and care they needed. My brother wound up in and out of jail and unable to hold jobs or be a parent to his kids due to severe alcoholism and drug abuse. My half sister was mostly raised by her father and abusive step mother until eventually she married very young to escape an unhappy childhood. The brother I grew up with who my parents also adopted died 6 years ago at 43. I haven't always had a happy life but at least my needs were always met because both my parents worked and we were never destitute.

In 1971 my fiance' was in Vietnam. Suddenly MIA. I gave our little son up for adoption in May. Even though he returned home after six months I could never have torn this little guy away from his family! Nor tear the parent's hearts in two! This is about the child regardless of the circumstances! 😢
God blessed me so much with a little baby boy 9 years later! And again with two beautiful grandchildren! ❣️🙏🇺🇲

My daughter gave birth to my 1st grandson 4mo before her 16th birthday. I encouraged her to consider adoption. I wanted what was best for her child and mine. She was a baby herself and MY baby. She went through the process and even chose a family she thought might be acceptable. 3 months before he was born, I said to her.." You aren't going to be able to go through with this, are you? Her response was.. " I just can't Mom, my heart won't let me." Whatbif they aren't kind to him and don't love him like I already do?" What can anyone say to that except. "I understand, and we will get through it." It was really rough due to our dynamic, but he is an amazing 18-year-old blessing to this world, and I'm so glad she stood her ground

I loved this movie! I am adopted, and although I've never met my birth mom, I love and appreciate what she did for me. My family adopted me when I was just a couple of weeks old. When we had our first child, I decided to do a search for my birth mom, with my parents help. I wasn't able to find her though. Adoption is a wonderful gift to give and receive. Children are such a blessing, and because of abortions, it has been much harder to adopt a baby. My hope and prayer is for more young women to choose adoption instead of abortion.❤

    • @gordonstroup882
      @gordonstroup882 Před 8 měsíci +23

Absolutely! Adoption is the best for the birth mother and the adopting parents. A life is saved by the birth mother. These young women need to come to terms with becoming pregnant and realize that they have the very beginning of a human life. Abortion needs to be stopped. That isn't a birth control that is killing a human being. Birth control is not getting pregnant. Birth control is from being abstaining and not giving in.
Marriage first, then love one another, and then they just might be blessed by God and have a child.😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Adoption for sure is the best. Then again, it is debatable that a one or two month embryo is a baby. Many women are raped, and in our culture, many young women are pressured into sex, even on a first date. Date rape is considered her fault as she invited him in, etc. I don't believe it's fair for a young woman to have to carry her rapists' sperm to term. So I agree with you to a point, but totally abolishing abortions is not the solution for me.

As a mother who gave her daughter up for adoption, the most heartbreaking part is handing over your baby knowing you will never see the child again,, seeing the little face and hearing the little noises baby makes and feeling the movement, knowing dream never come true. my heart still remembers the ache that will never go away, to this day, I have never felt anything so hurtful that can it can be compared to. your mom loved you enough to not think of herself. I am sure she loved you.

@@gordonstroup882 The birthmother would still have to go through nine months of pragnancy that may mess up her live. Some may not even be women yet but still young teenagers or girls since there are some who go into puperty with ten or younger. No young teenager should be forced into motherhood . Some women aport because their live would be endangered or because the embryo won't survive anyway. And better not being born at all then being born in a shitty invironment. Unwanted children are often neglected or otherwise abused. -I agree aportion (at least after the first month) is not birth control but still nothing that should be shunned or outlawed and of course choosing adoption over it is always good.

Why is your hope not that more people use birth control instead and have actual intelligence bcz that means they would ot even have to make decisions like that and can truly feel free in their heart, mind, soul and protected from sxual transmitted diseases too. If people have sense to use a condom in addition to the things that a female can use. So if they have sense protection is present!

Just looking at the bigger picture given what she went through to help others find the way. Forgiveness is the ultimate freedom especially when every heart knows its own sorrow. With caps as emphasis, a prayer of surrender to GOD using JESUS CHRIST AS THE MEDIATOR to urge the broken, wounded, empty, desperate and guilty to be mended, healed, filled rescued, and pardoned by HIM.
On a balcony of space STEPPED A PURE AND HOLY GOD. IN AWESOME SOLITUDE YOU STOOD ALONE. Not one faint star to give YOU light; just endless darkness, it was blackest night. But somehow in the darkness YOU COULD SEE.
YOU SAW mountains high and lofty, YOU SAW valleys lush and green. YOU SAW babbling brooks, and wildflowers grow, YOU EVEN HEARD a robin sing. Then through YOUR COMPASSION STANDING OUT THERE IN YOUR TOMORROW, YOU SAW forum's visitors, their families and friends. 🥰
YOU SAW them as sinners (missing the mark when aiming to solve a problem then creating another resulting in their weaknesses prevailing causing guilt of wrong doing) because there is no intrinsic righteousness in any of us due to Adam’s sin. YOU SAW them as they grew from a baby into adulthood due to YOUR HANDS OF MERCY. 🥰 YOU SAW them pursuing a career path for the purpose of obtaining the gains of the world not realizing that it is a loss compared to what YOU DID on the cross. YOU SAW them working long and laboring hard to receive justification by grace even though YOU stated, "This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent."(John 6:29 KJV) YOU SAW the unwillingness to accept YOUR PLAN OF SALVATION THROUGH YOUR SON JESUS CHRIST. YOU SAW them living with the guilt of committing crimes to the heart. YOU SAW them enduring personal crisis. YOU SAW the weight of the burden on their hearts with each tribulation. YOU SAW them seeking comfort from the above mentioned topography, ONE OF THE MANY MARVELS YOUR PERFECT HANDS HAVE MADE. 👏👏👏 YOU SAW their worries about tomorrow.
If their hearts were a window that they could look through, oh the pains and scars they would see. What a cruel fate the skin gives as a mask to the inward pain. But the skin couldn’t cover THE SUFFERING YOUR ONE AND ONLY SON BORED on the cross as PAYMENT for all our sins because HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE HAD THE MERIT TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR HOLINESS. Indeed, ONLY HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SUFFICIENT TO SAVE us from this present evil world as evidenced by Mary's song of praise. "And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour." (Luke 1:46-47 KJV) Awesome thanks to YOUR GREAT PARDON for being easy on the heart. 🥰
They have seen a lot of crazy things done in YOUR NAME. For example, the father of lies futile attempts to make crooked the right ways of the LORD to turn people away from faith in the WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE. How can anyone bear the thought of his or her life story detracting from the GLORY AND HONOR KNOWN TO BELONG TO CHRIST ALONE? As a consequence, YOU ARE A MYSTERY OF GREAT MYSTERY to them. Despite this conviction, YOU ARE MINDFUL of them as evidenced by the fact that YOUR JUDGEMENT is not speedy, allowing them to pursue the desires of the flesh.
They are aware of hypocrisy in religious assemblies that like to be seen and heard. In addition, secular education teaches that there is no right and wrong, if GOD exists there is no way of relating to HIM, and moral standards shift according to the whims of fashion. Therefore, their minds are conditioned to question everything this world has to offer including “THY POWER THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE DISPLAYED.” They have accepted the heavy burden of dealing with the troubles of this life and seek to know another way, YOU THE GREAT COMFORTER TO ALL who did receive YOU as their personal SAVIOR. Still, YOU have shown them NEW MERCY every day with each thought they make and each breath they take.
Unfortunately, like the prodigal son, we are all guilty of wandering far from YOU LORD because the negative experiences of our lives tend to build roadblocks to the TRUTH. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them to identify the way, truth, and eternal life (that is YOU). Since to know and follow your SPIRIT is more exciting than any 007 movies, and YOU DELIGHT MAKING the ordinary into extraordinary. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST MAKE them understand that there is no way around YOUR TRUTH, and that there is something about YOUR NAME. As time marches on, JESUS CHRIST HELP them defeat in their minds what is false in YOUR EYES.
LORD GUIDE their thoughts to know that the path of sin is hard on their hearts for the purpose of crying out to YOU to know the joy, peace of having the heavy burden LIFTED by THE GOD OF PEACE I AM, and ANCHOR their souls in THE HAVEN OF REST. In other words, LORD use the storms in their lives to get a hold of them to trust YOU and believe. In truth, YOU ARE THE JOY that seekest them through pain.
LORD HELP their fainting hearts to believe that YOU, who was slain on the cross over 2000 years ago has the POWER TO CHANGE lives today through the INSTANTANEOUS GREAT FAVOR from GOD to the house of Israel made known in believers by YOU to make YOUR NAME EVERLASTING. 🥰 For as the statue liberates the citizens so the cross liberates the soul. ONLY YOU can calm the trouble waters of the mind when one admits to wanting salvation from one’s sinful nature, JESUS IS LORD, and believes in the heart that GOD RAISED HIM from the dead TO LIFT the heavy burden of sin's guilt away from the heart in accordance to YOUR WORD found in Psalm 51:1-10 KJV. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 O, the wonder of it all to experience within the flesh the feeling of a tree being cut back/pruned in order for it to grow stronger and more beautiful after meditating on the words of said Psalm. 🥰🙌
LORD MAKE them know that ONLY YOUR HOLY SPIRIT, through the experience of a new birth within believers, can prevent the family circle from being broken because THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE YOU HAVE GRANTED means a chapter of their lives is decided. Creation sings the rebirth song for them yearly, through YOUR PROMISE of springtime, giving rise to the idea that by the mention of YOUR NAME flowers grow, and the desert blooms again. 🥰
LORD GUIDE their understanding of words to use to come into YOUR PRESENCE with an honest reverence of WHO YOU ARE to experience the beauty that time can't erase YOUR WISDOM resting on their faces. LORD STRENGTHEN their determination to never waiver in efforts to search for YOU because the wages of sin is too high for anyone to pay. Additionally, THE KING OF KINGS is needed in their hearts to learn how to expand their capacity to love for YOU are LOVE in any language. 🥰 Once they learn to speak it with boldness through YOUR WONDERFUL COUNSELING all the world will hear, and know that LOVE is the language of their hearts. So LORD, KEEP KNOCKING on their doors until they let YOU in to know hardships and struggles will end with a GREAT CELEBRATION WITH YOU. 🥰🙌
If one believes faith cannot be forced, YOU WILL GIVE that individual over to the stubborn heart to follow own counsel which will surely fail him or her to the extent that the punishment will last forever found in Psalms 81 NIV. Given this, I pray that YOU WILL MAKE that person see that this feeling is wasted for a world in which we become strangers as we age, gives us thrills instead of peace, aims to solve a problem but creates another, and unrest surges with each passing generation. Shed some light into their broken hearts for YOU ARE THE GREAT JEHOVAH, THE GOD THAT HEALETH thee.
Lastly, LORD when they call on YOU in earnest prayer to come into their hearts to be born again (repentance manifesting itself in a changed life), I pray that YOU WILL GIVE them the blessed assurance of their salvation because nothing breaks YOUR HEART, or tears YOU apart like when they cry from the trials of the devil who comes to slander, falsely accuse, steal, kill & destroy. Only by drawing nearer to YOU LORD will put them on a path to a glorious one way trip winding upward to YOU where pain is not welcome because the heart will never break anymore. For ONLY YOU UNDERSTANDS our tears since YOU LOOK at the heart, while humans look at the flesh.
O LOVE that will not let them go. When they don't have the strength to try, and have cried all they can cry hear their hearts that need YOU more today than yesterday. Many thanks LORD for speaking TRUTH in our lives TO BLESS those who are not offended by THEE. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE because YOUR LOVE ALONE CONQUERS everything by WAITING for them to cease struggling, and finally surrender to YOUR EMBRACE to learn about YOUR LOVE AND PROMISE TO TAKE CARE of your children exquisitely. 🥰 Since... "at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore"... (Psalms 16:11 KJV), and the nail print for them to know YOU by answering the following question. How did CHRIST LOVE people into a relationship with HIM? 🥰

Beautiful movie. I have three adopted Taiwanese children. Six months after we adopted our first born there was a huge scandal when it was revealed that a lawyer responsible for many Taiwanese adoptions had actually been stealing the children off the streets then claiming they were abandoned. She arranged their adoptions to many families in Australia and the US. I remember going into my sons bedroom absolutely gripped with the fear that the authorities would come and take him away. Fortunately we weren’t part of this human trafficking situation. This movie brought back many memories of those few weeks we waited to hear if our son was going to stay with us or be sent back to Taiwan. They never did find the parents to those children who had been stolen. To this day they still search for their biological parents.😢

I agree that taking him away from a stable family to place him with people he hardly knows and who has issues is not in his best interest. Even if the birth parents did love Joey and wanted a second chance, they could have done it in the different way than taking him from the only people he knows as his parents and his father especially needs to work on himself more before he can have any custody of a defenseless child. CPS and the family courts needs to get their butts together and realize what is best for a child doesn't always mean being with the biological parents.

The range of emotions flew off the charts while the movie played on.
I was a foster child growing up with out a sense of belonging at all.
I had no concept that I would continue to pass on a generational curse through my children and theirs?
I will forever long for a sense of connection on this earth plane..
In the quiet of the night and at age of 60, the desire to belong continues to haunt my soul..
I've been everywhere that I have wanted. And I have experienced all that I have desired..
Have lived more than 9 lives.

Healing is a life long endeavor, the journey that all of us are on.

Rip was an abuser because he is a narcissist NOT because he was an alcoholic. [when he said he had the perfect wife and perfect child….dead giveaway ] Not a surprise that his empath wife wanted him back because she has severe problems of her own but for the court to not vet him was completely unacceptable. Only takes one narcissistic rage episode for a healthy person to end the relationship. It should have never been a consideration to put a child in that toxic environment.

Alcohol and Drug Abusers even if recovering/ recovered are self centered .
      I don’t believe Rip was a Narcissist.
A Narcissist never gives up control, ever .
      Even their discard is control.
Rip didn’t discard , his son.
There is a small percentage( 2 or 3 %) of Angry Abusive men that can heal and become healthy .
Like an addict It is life long .
Rip was ill prepared, immature and inundated on what he needed to work upon ( himself ) he had done some work upon himself , and recognized that he needed to do more .
That is also something a Narcissist would never do, look upon themselves and work upon themselves .
I think if Wendy and Rip were both toxic and the relationship , they would have never agreed to acquiesce .
      I’m differentiating,
      unhealthy and toxic .

As Mother of 3 who was told I was putting my life on the line if I had any. My 3 should have been 5 but it wasn’t meant to be. All I wanted was a house full of children so our 4th was adopted and she completed our family. We helped raise another 46, 9 of those my children brought home from school because a parent told them not to come home again. We loved them and finished their educations.
There is no difference between how you feel if you give birth or foster or adopt. I learned when I was small I could love any baby or child. I still question if I did things right or was I the right Mother. Then I look at the beautiful young woman she is and she owns a big chunk of all of our hearts. So if you cannot have your own baby and you decide to adopt. Don’t question yourself if it feels different, it is the same and none of the 3 I gave birth to look like me or their Dad. One looks a bit like his Great Grandfather’s Brother. Genetics mean nothing. ❤

If the adoptive parents, especially the dad, could learn to appreciate the other parents, what an incredibly full and varied life Joey could've grown up with! Learning about handling sails according to the winds and many factors would have been way richer than turning a big steering wheel--but operating that paddleboat must've been primo for a little boy!

I absolutely cried my eyes out. I can not imagine having to turn my children over to complete strangers. I also feel that the system is broken. The transition could have been handled better with room for all to be better adjusted. My husband and i believe that there can be a relationship w both sets of parents. Where the child knows both sets ( if safe and can be handled amicably). All children could benefit from having more people love them.
I've had 2 biological children, and my husband and I adopted two boys (separately at their birth) and later adopted a 14 year old girl from foster care. I will tell you we feel no differently about any of our children. We love them exactly the same. Honestly we had to work harder for the adopted children, it was so much more intentional. We've raised our boys knowing they were adopted and continue to reitterate to them just how much their biological mommys loved them so much that they hand picked a loving family for them to have. My heart hurt for both mothers in this movie.

That's my main gripe with this movie. If you read the book it's based on, they DO find God in the horrible situation they are in. The adoptive mother especially wants to know and learn more about God and He comes through for them at the end. Her husband takes a bit longer but they eventually give their lives to the Lord. Joey also learns about God through his cousin and begins praying to Him for protection from Rip's abusive temper. I don't hate the movie but I wish they would have put it in the film. It would have made it more powerful and stayed true to Karen Kingsbury's original message.

I can’t stop crying! That poor little boy, his real parents are so selfish to uproot him from everything he knows! He messed up, she gave him up, that was their choices! He should not pay! It’s not about money, it’s about the child and how their choices hurt him! I feel so mean, I wanted his real dad to show his true colours before he messed the child up! Great ending but feel bad she stayed with abuser! That was sad!
