Storytelling in super doesn't make sense. All powerscaling does is take feats from the show to see how strong characters are.

I lost it when Vegeta somehow survived the Final Explosion and had no energy or stamina, yet next episode he is in SSB full power. What? Or how Vegeta did not have enough ki for even basic SS, yet gave Goku 1 ki blast and that energized Goku to go SSB full power? The tropes of this series are being abused to the point of absurdity.

The rant on the chapter that made him drop Fairy Tail is still one of the best.
I believe the destruction of Jiren's character was heavily contrived. They did this because Jiren seemed to be more noble than Goku when he is first introduced along with his purer less selfish reasons for wanting to win the tournament. They had to downgrade Jiren's character to make sure that Goku is still perceived as the true hero. In a nutshell, Jiren was too perfect.

Sammy Dray he said Boruto is better than DBS, as a hardcore Naruto fan who hates the inconsistency of Boruto, I can now say that since Boruto is now on its final 2 chapters it is actually better than DBS, which Boruto was a different type of trash, but still trash. Now it’s actually ok if you get past the fact that this villain who has been around for a minimum of 30 chapters and he is still less developed than Zabuza, the only thing carrying this final arc is lore and nostalgia, that and the first episode is a cuck of cliffhanger to promote the sequel that takes place 7yrs later. GT was great whether it's compared to Super, or not.. I'll never understand the hate for it, I loved it, it was my favourite series - Every thing people complained about in GT is in abundance in Super, Super from start to finish is complete trash - Goku is basically treated as just a generic Shounen hero

Anyone care to explain why Ultra Instinct makes Goku stronger? I thought the concept behind ultra instinct is that it allows the body to react automatically in battle (reducing time lost thinking), but that doesnt explain how that physically enhances Goku.
I humbly ask a genuine question and I'm met with hostility. As per rule of the internet, I shouldn't be surprised, but whatever. Now as per what you are saying, how does that answer the question? Has the reason for the powerup ever been explicitly stated or alluded to? Where does this transformation come from, if not a saiyan powerup nor the spirit bomb? What you told me doesn't answer the question, all you told me was that he has a transformation that incorporates UI and it made him stronger. Then again, super is terribly inconsistent with anything logic related so I don't expect a satisfying answer
that is a question that needs to answered, my only guess is that because you dont have to think to move your body or muscles, that maybe its technically removing the limit your brain gives your body so you dont destroy the very fiber of your body :P

The worst part about 17 catching Jiren "off guard" is that he ruins his own attack by talking to Jiren an one liner: "have something special for you" before he attacks. Are you telling me Jiren is so slow he can't react after HEARING someone talking about attacking him?
Finally, someone talks about this...like seriously?! Jiren goes from noble hero to fucking bland disney villain in the span of a few episodes. It's such an abrupt change of personality that not even the characters in the show who are part of his own team see it coming. Hmm...it's almost like they needed him to act like a villain so that people would be happy to see him get his ass kicked by Goku. But no...no Toei. That punch to Jiren's gut isn't suddenly going to be more satisfying just because he stopped being the Jiren we knew for most of this arc.
They literally gave Jiren a anime villain flashback to justify is evilness... Just like Frost who's flashback was never in manga.

He is based on his backstory. Jiren has no friends just pawns that he has collected by being the strongest. Through strength he attracted others because he is strong. Jirens character is basically strength is all that matters, without strength you are nothing. Jiren learned that only one thing matters, being the strongest.

NONE of the *12* gods have mastered it yet. Beerus is ahead of all the other gods when it comes to UI and he got caught after only a few panels in the Manga. He's ahead of even Belmod. The guy who HAS BEEN a God of Destruction for 240,000+ years!!
How did Goku even absorb the Spirit Bomb anyway? Dude gets blasted with the thing and instead of at least being out of commission, he gets a massive power up which he uses again against Kefla (without even the Spirit Bomb boost) and masters it on the third try. All that within 40 minutes.

The whole of Super is just Fan Service things haven't made since from the beginning it's just to sell new merch after the Spirit Bomb Sword Trunks used I stopped caring about continuity and things making sense. It's obviously just guys who are sitting around saying that sounds cool so use it.

halosky258 Yeah Goku does more than the other characters. HE'S THE MAIN CHARACTER. Vegeta was stronger than him in the Future Trunks arc. Vegeta just got a new form that helped him beat a GOD OF DESTRUCTION. He's had plenty of moments and shine through out Super. More than Gohan, more than Krillin, more than anybody but Goku. Arguably more than Goku. Vegeta is probably the most well treated non main character in Shonen history but ya'll still complain because he doesn't "beat the main threat". It's ridiculous.
My only complaint is that Vegeta should had been the one to really beat golden Frieza, but other then that I have to agree with Petplatypus, Vegeta was well treated this time around probably even better than his z days.

The Saiyan arc is a great start to DBZ and with the Namek arc being MASSIVELY iconic to Revolutionize all of Shonen and media worldwide with Frieza being the main threat with the legendary Super Saiyan changing the game forever in media. And the Cell Saga was FANTASTIC with great development for Gohan and a brilliantly done villain like Cell. And the Majin arc was extremely well done to finally showcase the built up character development for both Vegeta AND Gohan.
And while the Buu arc has issues, it was still pretty well done. Neither one, ESPECIALLY NOT the Saiyan, Namek, and Cell Saga, we’re in ANYWAY “eXtrEmEly GeNeRiC” in ANY way at all. Not even close. You badly oversimplify things too much in the WORST possible way and it makes it clearly obvious that you don’t know how to think about things critically at all here.

They need to give the series to Toyotaro and give him at least a month and a half in between arcs to compose himself for the next one. Toyotaro, in my opinion, has a lot more complete ideas than the current writers of the show.
And yet Dragonball fans will still defend this to the death out of pure nostalgia.
i think the biggest mistake the "writers" did is that they made jiren so dem op that it is nearly impossible to beat him. think about, he is omega ultra strong, got faster than time reflexes (idk what faster than time means but okay lmao) and he doesn't got the weakness of being caught off gaurd, that alone makes it super hard for the "writers" to defeat the character without any shitty asspulls and inconsistencies

In order to enjoy this show I just shut down any logical thinking for any plot point Super has. Really the fights and finishing the DB series are the ONLY reasons why I watch this show.

This is what happens when you make a Superman character. When they eventually fall it will always be BS because you made them perfect, and if your character who is beating them has shown any weakness or if the Superman shows any weakness later on its BS. This is why characters like this D O N O T W O R K. I always disliked Jiren for this, I knew some sh*t like this would happen. It’s why I liked Hit, because they established him early on as a powerhouse but because of the interesting quirks in his powers and his personality there was enough chances for him to be beaten at some point and he could still come out a fun, strong, and GOOD character afterwards.

-Before watching hit vs jiren, i tought they were going to go crazy creative with hit powers, that he was going to be able to ´´hit´´ jiren a lot of times and that he (hit) was going to use assasination attacks because he knew jiren was going to survive, i tought that hit vs jiren was going to be a huge display of ability for hit and even then all attacks were not going to hurt jiren at all ( i was thinking of more attacks from the other dimension, improvements of timeskip, backwards timeskip on the opponent body and his own body, stealth attacks, ilussion attacks, clones, etc) at the end jiren would have end up as the winner anyway, people would have been cool with a crazy fight of non saiyans only, and it would have put jiren in a better place.
-Vegeta vs toppo was going to be a clear win to vegeta so it went right for me, but yeah, i noticed the bad writing there, first the hakai nonsense and then beyond blue stronger than a god of destruction, that just doesnt feels right. at least vegeta should have outsmarted toppo in a way to beat him.
-I really wanted vegeta to fight even better than goku in a 1v1 vs jiren, i wanted more display of abilities from this guy, i mean, vegeta knows goku have a teleport and the kaioken, why vegeta is not trying to counter that ? also vegeta needs to be at least at the same or higer level than goku on fighting skills in order for him to be a damn good rival. also he have trained the same or more than goku, how is vegeta not better than how it is right now ?
- i tought jiren was going to be stronger than goku ultra instinct, so i was right with goku wining a fight agaisnt a stronger foe but they are giving goku just another level xd
so yeah, i had so much faith in the battles for this arc, i was blind :(

FINALLY someone on YT who both watches Dragon Ball and uses brain while doing this xD Basically i agree with most of your points KINGUUUU. The best thing about these episodes was choreography and it also wasn't a thing for every one of them. I'm honestly very disappointed with this whole arc. It's just good for making DB AMVs, but not for watching with pleasure, because in my opinion everything aside from FEW fights and SOME developement for Vegeta was "not good" at maximum. I'm not gonna repeat King's points, so let's end it here. I hope though that this whole shitshow (Tournament, still my opinion, don't jump on me with your torches) will be better in the manga, because it's definitely started better.

Nova if you don't know but Toei is making animationed based on material ideas by Toriyama. Toei doesn't have a manga to create the fight scenes materials from so they're making it from scratch. It's all on Toei's fault if you dislike the Choreography. DBZ was already a manga before it was animated so they could easily follow a manga material's choreography. So stop the misunderstanding that DBZ is better when DBS had nothing to base on while limited on time making 131 episodes with a tight budget.

Gaal Anonim - Well I think the beginning and middle were ok but once we got to Kefla it went down hill fast. I think that's when we were first getting hints it was being rushed. And to be honest going back the whole arc feels rushed. I get what they were going for but they should of done less padding and more explaining like with DBZ. See I really think super is going down the Toriko route where they are unnessicarly being pushed and rushed to end and that is now glaringly hurting the series. I hope the series comes back next year and they slow down and give it the justice it deserves. Outside of that I guess we will just have to have faith that the manga will pick up the pieces for now and fill in the gaps that the anime left wide open
I'm tired of hearing jiren say "Its over" or "this is the end" then he doesn't even try to knock these fools off the stage. His punches should be able to blow based form Goku or Vegeta away with ease and why does he have to block attacks that aren't even super saiyan god level. Glad this series is coming to an end. Which is little kids on sunday morning(since they have school on saterday in Japan). Notice how there is no blood? Vegeta just gets a knot on his eye. Remember when 18 headbutts Vegeta in their fight and he has blood streaming from his forehead? That gritty kind of action is gone... because they can't show that to little kids. So when you say, they tested your intelligence congrats, that means you're smarter than a Japaneses 7 year old.

Thank you, Kingu!! In my opinion, if I'm one of the writers, I could've lead up to Jiren's backstory instead of pulling it out of nowhere. I know some say Jiren is boring and bland but different strokes for different folks. I could've made Jiren's backstory probably in one or two episodes.
Jiren is from one of the six universes that got destroyed. His race is one of the strongest in the verse, his planet gets obliterated by Zeno, he watches his family and friends die. He grows up and starts crime-fighting in Universe 11, he trained and became arrogant in his strength. A villain came and tries to kill everyone, Jiren came and save the day. The villain rises up and blasts a ki blast on a small building. Jiren knocks him out and flies to the building, saw burnt corpses of a family and an infant. Jiren almost kills the villain by beating it to death but sees the residents beating the villain an inch to death. From that day, Jiren vows to seek what lies beyond strength and stop killing so that he can never make a mistake like that again. He is recruited by the Pride Troopers during this. Jiren hates pride and arrogance because he was like that and he wish to bring back the family back to life because he wants them to have the infant a second chance.
