  • 7-47. The beam is made from four boards nailed together as shown. If the nails can each support a shear force of 100 lb., determine their required spacing s' and s if the beam is subjected to a shear of V = 700 lb .

    11:16 when we calculate Qd , why we get the whole area? I mean why we add to two side parts intead of the just on the top

    so when we find Qc and its A' can I use the (10X1) in that area? not use (3 x 1) that area if I can't do that how am I supposed to know what time I need to use which one, compared with the video 7-46??

      You can see the nail on point c having board of thickness 1 inch and height 3 in so the area will be that. If you are taking at point D then Area will be 10x1 plus 2(3×1). Its very simple bro....
