Have you ever been catfishing in Canada? My advisor for my masters does a lot of channel cat migration/movement on the red river. He said the channel cats are gigantic up there. The cooler water temps slow down metabolic processes enough to create a lot of pigs. I know you aren't a channel fan but any big fish is fun!
I haven't, but it's on my to do list. I've heard amazing things.

Wisdom from Spencer:
1. He has noticed that flathead catfish will not hit bait if a glow in the dark bead is attached.
2.But channel catfish sometimes will only take bait if a glow in the dark bead is attached.
An interesting observation about the two subspecies.
I try not to cut out all the good parts. haha
Finally, I needed to see this to get off of the walleye chase. Time reline and get the 6500's oiled up!

Im surprised that you don't try and map spots like that with a castable sonar. Like a deeper smart sonar. I've found out alot about my local fishing holes by doing just that. Might make for good content as well 🤷♂️👍👊🎣

I live in Independence. Mo. I don't know what part of Iowa your in, but would love to come kick it with you and do some fishing. I have a kayak. So it's whatever man. You know the flathead's i got the big walleyes covered. They are in Pomme de tarr. In southern mo. But i got a really nice spot. And im talking if not 3 ft long 14-16 lbs real close. Huge fillets. And of course pike. Cause as you know walleye are food for pike. Lmk what ya think if ya feal like company. Hope you had a Awesome night.
