    It’s nice to see some legitimate reviews on this type of setup for a change. These hybrid motors have built up a reputation for being very unreliable for unknown reasons because no one that has done these setups has come forward with any real world data or updates of success, failure and/or problem areas. I think much of your success with this motor has a lot to do with using a proper setup whereas others are trying to cut corners everywhere they can which tends to lead to issues more often than not. I would like to see some long term data from a daily driven application as some places don’t require smog at all and can be done in those areas, but I don’t doubt that it can be and is a reliable race only motor. I look forward to your future updates and reviews on this

    Would love to see this and the flange in actual use- especially using a semi PP config with ITB's and sequential opening on the different ports- would give us something reminiscent of VVT and VVL if done correctly

    I believe Ryan rotary performance here in the uk are currently working on a semi p intake port & intake manifold for the renesis where the intake runners for the pp will include a valve opened using one of the original intake valve circuits or the solenoids themselves (think it may have been the ssv). This might solve the low down power issue with a semi p in the renesis. Interested to hear your thoughts

    I have to ask, from an objective standpoint, which engine is better? This MSP-GSLSE hybrid, or the REW? I would think that the turbo is going to spool slower thanks to the lower exhaust gas velocity, but it gains in top end exhaust flow as a result. I'm more curious about the intake though, does the extra intake area contribute to anything in this hybrid engine, or is it not worth compared to an REW?

And has anyone ever tried putting expansion chambers on one of these. I'd say the best arrangement to modify a Renesis would be Peripheral Intake Port, the NSU Ro-80 type, beeter if rectangular or square, Reed-Valve controlled, closing forever Side Intake ports, keeping the Side Exhaust ports.
    For an improved Wankel RCE, avoidance of port overlap is essential.
    Anyone has tested in a Mazda the Toyota concept, having a glow plug, an ignitor, in the leading plug hole?
    Blessings +

  • @michaeldragos
    @michaeldragos Před 3 lety

    The GSL housing exhaust ports are having so much overlap with the Renesis intake ports, that this engine will make power only at the top end. Not suitable for street use.

    • @josezuma2116
      @josezuma2116 Před 3 lety

      It does have but not a lot, way less than a BD or semi pp.

    • @takemebacktothen

      all rotaries besides the renesis have overlap

  • @nobodyspecial5026
    @nobodyspecial5026 Před 3 lety +3

    Still not seeing it?
    No, it’s not more efficient. The reason why is that as soon as the Renesis rotor moves 3* past TDC the full primary intake port begins to open while the the peripheral exhaust port that was added is still fully open. Even if the Renesis intake ports aren’t modified, adding a peripheral exhaust port creates 13B peripheral intake engine type overlap when paired with Renesis side plates. The difference between this and a 13B PP is that you simply can’t achieve any exhaust pulse tuning on a Renesis hybrid due to the exhaust signal being broken up into 3 port streams, of which two side port streams open later and close earlier. This disrupts and weakens/destroys the potential for exhaust pulse signal strength.
    So it will never be strong NA and the only real hope for FI is to treat it like a PP intake engine. Which means a big turbo with an even bigger turbine housing because it’s not going to be tolerant of negative emap with all that intake/exhaust overlap that the peripheral exhaust port creates when paired with Renesis plates. It will never be as strong as an unmodified Renesis in the lower rpm range because it’s not going to have much of anything below 5000 rpm, just like a 13B engine with a big intake PP.
    Even back 10+ years ago when all the hybrid Renesis began, the output was subpar compared to what an unmodified Renesis was capable of. It wasn’t as obvious then because of all the people doing it wrong and making it seem like a Renesis and turbo weren’t compatible. Now there are quite a few examples of people using sufficiently sized turbos with good tuning and support mods.
    What it really comes down to is that most people still don’t grasp what it is that makes the Renesis so different than the prior 13B. For the same reason those differences are why most of the mods used on the prior engines don’t work on the Renesis.
