    At the time, Seals and Crofts had released the soundtrack album for the basketball movie "One On One", which featured that fabulous single "My Fair Share". I had to wait more than thirty years to find that single, but it was worth it! 👍

    Sergio Aragones is also the guy who not only did the animations for this show but also did the comedy animations for all the Dick Clark blooper specials beginning in the 1980s.

    Sadly, by the time "Laugh In" was revived by NBC in 1977, this type of quick punch line sketch comedy had fallen out of style,
    "Saturday Night Live" was now the top dog show and it was far edgier as a result. It can and did go places that "Laugh In" could not and pushed the creative envelope further.

      Dick Martin once said in TV Guide that Saturday Night Live did the things that OG Laugh-In couldn't do because they were on in late night as opposed to prime time.

Meanwhile, _The New Laugh 😄-In_ ran on NBC as a series of six hourlong specials, which aired 💨 from September 5 (Labor 👷🏻 Night 🌚), 1977-February 8, 1978, and was rerun from June 6-July 4 (Independence Night 🇺🇸🌚), 1979, at 8 pm Eastern, as in the next ➡️ five specials.

    I vividly remember a skit on Laugh-in....not sure if its this version of laugh-in or the other one.
    It was of a lady who wore several multi colored feathers arranged up in her hair like a feather duster.
    She also wore a medium length pink gown/dress....
    She was sitting on a couch smiling...
    She stood up and started to laugh, her laugh was very unique and she would bow a few time's.
    Can anyone tell me who performed that skit,
    Or what episode of laugh-in it was on?

    The live audience was a mistake. It was a drag on the actors' pacing, and made the Joke Wall unwatchable. There was also a lack of groundedness that Rowan and Martin and Gary Owens provided.

      Mutually agreed! Those garish, talking head themed (with no relation to the band) Joke Wall doors do no favor, either! The Joke Wall simply isn’t the same without its vaguely tie-die color scheme, iffy script material aside.

      @@shoelaceagleto8398 More importantly, in the original version the focus would move across different areas of the screen, leading to unpredictable compositions. In the reboot, it was always two parallel doors, a very static composition.

    While some of that was funny, overall it also comes off as tryhard.
    Although yes, its fascinating seeing Robin on this. He's undeniably the best part of this.
    I do wonder... was a white guy with a black puppet with GIGANTIC lips not even slightly questionable then?

      A lot of this would be questionable now, not to mention dated. There’s a lot of people who wouldn’t get the Anita Bryant and Jimmy Hoffa jokes now.

    Without Nixon and Vietnam (to say nothing of Rowan and Martin), and with "Saturday Night Live" offering topical satire without the cutesiness, coming up with its own catchphrases ("Jane, you ignorant slut"; "Never mind"; "We're from France") to replace "You bet your sweet bippy," the world didn't really need a new "Laugh-In." Too bad: talented cast, with a couple of breakouts.

      Honestly, the original “Laugh-In” hasn’t aged well for me either. They had a very talented cast, a lot of singing, some iconic gags, and Tiny Tim, but the topical jokes are dated now and quite a few jokes were old even back then. It was something new at the time and undeniably fun, but subtlety was definitely not their forte.
      Goldie sure was cute though!

      @@waynechapman9823 I watched the old one as well, and I agree some jokes were a little dated from being topical, it still held up fairly well. With this you can all ready see the start of woke culture. I do like this a bit better than the first one though.
