    What pissed me off is that all these naive people watching this don't understand that Ben was the only natural guy in the race. The system had it in for him. They would not out Carl or anyone else, Carl failed 4 tests in USA. Truth is every 100m sprinter at that level is on gear.
    Ben wasn't that day. As he knew they would be gunning for him, so he competed natural, and incredible disadvantage and still got 2nd. He was half the build he was 3 years before at his peak.

      I agree.
      Worst indoor track for sprinters i've ever seen, the athletes are so close that could barely move and you have here, big men with broad shoulders, long arms that need leverage to deploy its power in a pure sprint discipline.
      I had the opportunity to see Andre Cason in Madrid (Spain) a lot of years ago and he was a 60 meters specialist phenom. However, this video shows a flagrant false start by Andre and reveal , again, who is the best starter, strongest and fastest sprinter, Ben Johnson. Here, far from his best physical shape and with a competition with "advantage" over him, still the fastest.

      You are talking out of your fucking ass.
      Sprinters don’t take steroids on the day of a race. They take steroids in cycles in the build up to a race. They cease taking steroids at a certain point before a race in order for the drugs to clear from their system allowing them to pass a drug test.
      Ben Johnson had steroids in his system on the day of the race due to prior use in the build up cycle. He didn’t t allow enough time to pass for the drugs to clear from his system.
      Stop talking shit you idiot.

      @@POLITICALYCORRECTify Actually, it was 6, if you are talking about the 88 Olympics Finals. Robert DeSilva and Calvin Smith were the only 2 out of the 8 who never ever had any drug issues. Frankly, Calvin Smith (No. 4 upgraded to No. 3) should have been given the gold medal. He ran 9.99.

    It was a false start i think they let it go just to keep Ben from winning but did anyone see how Cason and Ben did a pop up start,they were off and running with no drive phase,this type of start works better than the drive phase type

    • @gregknight9542
      @gregknight9542 Před 3 lety +4

      Over the years every guy that used this type of start always got out on me so my coach and I started practicing on it and it does work, while everyone else was going through their drive phase I was off and running even the faster guys had to play catch up,I like it because you're into your running without having to wait

    • @johnnwako2488
      @johnnwako2488 Před 2 lety +3

      Spot on - in later years most world class 50-200 meter sprinters have been leaning forward too much and for too long; Jimmy Vicaut, the former European 100 m record holder, 9.86 seconds, has been a refreshing exception from all this nonsense: he has - just like Ben Johnson, Carl Lewis and many other world class sprinters - a so-called drive phase of only 10 m, then he is (almost) completely upright.

    • @ronester1
      @ronester1 Před 2 lety +2

      I think John Smith and Maurice Greene started the "Drive Phase Craze". It seemed to work great for him and others want to copy, but I think it makes sense for most people to get upright and run. Flojo didn't have a drive phase she just stood up and ran out the blocks.

      I disagree. Watch it again, this was a clean start. Andre always had an excellent reaction to the gun. He moved after the smoke exited the gun. Watch it again and again in slowmo! Absolutely no false start in this race.

    • @presidentresident
      @presidentresident Před 2 lety +2

      @@ronester1 You need uncommon power to do what Ben did. Drive phase guys are relying on gravity to help stack momentum, where as it was a waste of time for Ben because his exit from the blocks was so explosive that it propelled him further than spending time 'falling'. It took like 30 years of us watching everyone and they mama get popped for roids for us to double back to reality and truly appreciate the outlier ridiculousness that was Ben Johnson

    So what happened? Did they correct Cason's time or why does it say 5.69 instead of 5.55?

    • @jimmuchmore5854
      @jimmuchmore5854  Před 3 lety +7

      Back in the day, the automatic timing device was not linked to the television camera. Instead, the TV crew would record their own hand time, which was usually quite a bit faster than the automatic time. Cason's official time was 5.69.

      it was a huuuuuge false start. the smoke BS people are saying doesnt mean anything, you can leave at 0.01 - 0.11 after the gun and its a false start. thats because the human nervous system cannot react any faster than that. if you leave earlier then you've anticipated and reacted before the gun went off.
