Sammy Smith I did the same. It is so amazing!!! I'm floored by the intricate details and acting work. The writers hv allowed the actors to convey so much just through their silence and eyes. I feel that a lot of shows treat the audience as idiots. This truly honors us and gives us such a full beautiful experience. I just love it!!! Gillian Anderson said that this is her favorite role thus far, and it shows. I just love every second!
I did that just after Xmas, and I just loved it. Once you start watching you can't stop, as it grips you from the very first episode right up to the last one!!!
To be honest, I started watching The Fall to see if Jamie can actually act. I'm pleasantly surprised that he isn't just a pretty face. I hope he takes on more serious roles in the future. I would love to see him get some recognition for his work.
For me was the opposite haha. I watched it out of curiosity and then I discovered he was the guy from FSOG. I was pleasently surprised that I tried my best to watch those movies for him, now I just wonder WHY, WHY Jamie? Why you made me fall in love with your craft to then let me down that way(not his fault,tho)?? Haha I still mourn The Fall. I wanted more :(

Basically they all did the best they could with the crap they were given. Also he has had the last laugh cuz he made a butt load of money from those movies lol
I read every comment in this panel and I have to admit you all took the words out of my thoughts. Brilliantly written and amazing actors. Every character had a darkness or dark memory that kind of explained the reasons why they acted and did the things they did. The reason why so many felt sorry at some point for the killer, is perhaps how his childhood was, and you want him to feel some kind of compassion because he was a father and his children believed in his love. He did have one moment when he could have killed the detective, but he wanted her to live knowing he got away with the crimes way to easy. And is true this actor is handsome but his acting delivered making me believe that killers come in all shapes and forms.
For those complaining about the so-called loose ends, I think this is the problem nowadays when people watch television shows and movies: we want to know EVERYTHING. We can't cope with ambiguity and we feel as though everything should come together and be wrapped up with a neat little bow. The ending of the series was as mysterious as the events that preceded it, and I love that people will still be debating the futures of Stella, Katie, Sally Ann and Olivia for years to come.
Also GA and other members of the show have said they would love to come back to it in a couple of years so the ending is a bit open ended to leave the that option open
A master class in cat and mouse...but he wanted to choose the ending to show his control over Stella which was brilliant. Anyway I had a thought! They always talk about how Paul changed his name and was in foster care...and I ALMOST believe that he didnt have all the memories after being shot. If...what if there are actually 2 Paul/Peter...twin brothers that share in their twisted fantasies and whichever one lived, will now seek revenge on Stella. Something tells me its not over....

How many of you felt let down by the finale and season 3 itself? what started as a great series steadily declined in the season 3. I felt cheated. There were so many loose ends that didn't tie up. What happened to Paul's wife and son. They only showed Olivia. Why was Burns behaving the way he was, there was a theory that he might be Paul's dad. When it was mentioned that Paul was at the Gortnacull , that male nurse had a 'reaction', sort of like he had a connection with Gortnacull too. I can go on and on about the loose ends that left unattended. It felt like the writers didn't care anymore , they just want to rush through it and get done with it. I fucking waited two years for this.what a let down. Instead of just wasting entire two episodes in the hospital they could have addressed all this.
I don't think they rushed it. The Fall, in my opinion, is made really realisticly and therefore one can't find out evreything, there are always some things you can't connect. Maybe the male nurse knew Gortnacull from own expiriences but maybe only from the news or even something else. At the end it doesn't matter, does it? Spector is dead and therefore the case is closed and the series ends. Sure you may want to know more but I kinda like how it ended (and all the seasons btw).
LawUntoMyself I felt there could've been a couple more episodes to get into the mind of Spector that would explain why he decided to kill that guy and himself. I agree I also felt shortchanged, wanting more after the last episode. Did he just decide to kill himself after Stella called him out? Allan Cubbit has written a great story but this last episode felt like he ran out of ideas and didn't do justice to Jamie Dornan's awesome portrayal of Spector.
I see what you mean, though the main focus for the show is that Paul killed people and Paul needs to go to prison. So him killing himself wasn't the satisfying ending we might have wanted, but if the last scene was him stepping into his cell, people might still say it was rushed and blunt. I agree that they could have done more with the Gortnacull story, and Burns was never too developed of a character, just drank under stress and desperately loved Gibson, as for Pauls family there is no happy ending, if they had made the series longer/made a 4th one, it would probably feel too dragged on and lose focus on Pauls story. Cubitt left us wanting more, which is what any great artist does.
i thought the series got better as it went on, instead of a formulaic cop catches killer, killer gets punished story we got a complicated story showing the collaterall damage spreading out to the victims families and the moral quandaries of medical and psychiatric staff who have to treat this man. series 3 was the best of the lot i thought. the hospital scenes especially the first episode were some of the best of all. if you want formulaic cliche, there are plenty of other shows out there to watch.

Why is everybody whispering? When was the last time you had a conversation and didn't use your vocal chords? So annoying! I have mixed feelings about this series. It's well done but after a while it just looks like violence porn aimed a women. How many programs must they make before people just say enough to all this violence against women?
Am I the only one who finds it annoying when Gillian Anderson talks with a British accent in interviews? Yeah I know she lives there 5-6 years as a child, but she was born and mostly raised in America, so I feel like it’s weird that she uses it when she feels like it, but is American accent any other time. Idk maybe it’s just me
