    The GVW is set by DOT, as the truck may handle more weight technically, if you go over 26K GVW, the driver then needs to have a commercial license. So they set it this way so your employees can drive it without a CDL

    Nice truck! Fluid film is key to keeping them long term. You can always fix mechanical issues but rust is another story. Try different heights on receiver and heights on trailer hitch

    In my mind the only way I could justify the expense of a diesel engine in anything less than a really big truck is by putting a lot of miles on it. I loved the Super Duty I used to have with the V-10 gas.
    Good luck with whatever you decide to do with this rig!

      GM built an 8.1 liter gas engine back in the early 2,000's. I had one and it was a good engine. Shame they aren't offering something similar today. Thank you Pete!

    Overall, that's a nice truck you got yourself there Chris. Yep, all of those sensors & the EPA B.S. really hurts the abilities of the truck. Other that putting the after market suspension stuff on the truck, you're probably going to be stuck with the rough ride when towing the trailer. The price of these trucks anymore no matter the size really make it hard to justify their price. Thanks for the overview. Take care.

    I can understand your frustration on the emissions and regeneration stuff. That is wild on the towing, never paid much attention to the specifics of those series. That sure doesn't leave you much room for towing 😳 My new service truck at the daily is a 2023 3500 crew cab, 4x4. It has the 6.6 liter gas,and the 10 SPD automatic. I will have say that thing is a beast, and tows amazing!! But I guess they dont offer those in 4500-5500 trucks. 🤔🧐 I do wonder if that added hitch length does have something to do with it. My ole service truck did similar, until the airbag install. But those were alot cheaper Im sure than the ones for a truck that size. I finally broke down and bought another single axle road tractor 🤦🤣🤣 The treasure hauling is going to the next level now 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 That is a nice truck for sure though Mr Chris. Hope things work themselves out with it!! Stay warm sir!! 😁😁😁👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸

      @Jason1Pa Před 6 měsíci +1

      @dehavenfamilyfarm I'm not sure about Chevy but with the Fords once you get into the cab and chassis trucks the engines use different programming. They are actually tuned to create less power because most of them will be fleet trucks with drivers who don't care. They'd hold it to the floor while driving up a mountain and have the EGTs threw the roof. Also they have smaller turbo. You may want to check into that for yours.

    My company uses gm trucks. 2500s. 3500. And a 6500 All of the 2500s and 3500 have been super reliable. All gas engines. The 6.0s have stood the test of time. We have 3- 6.6s have been great but still pretty new. The 6500 is a duramax. It’s a 2021-22. That truck has not been great. Typical emissions related bullshit. I don’t drive it but I believe it’s been in limp mode quite a few tIMES. your truck looks sweet. Good luck with it.

    Wow.
    1. No 4x4 is a non stater 4 me.
    2. Gas engine these days is a must.
    3. Obviously I would never own a modern diesel engine from any manufacturer because of the emissions factor you mentioned earlier.
    4. I would gladly sacrifice some power/tourq & capability to have a gas engine. Especially if the work was local anyway.
    5. I would order a smaller truck with a gas engine & 4x4 and trade up and just eat the cost, seriously!

    If it's 19k, u can only tow a 7k trailer unless u have a cdl. Im buying a gmc 2500 so i can haul 14k trailers. I have a ram 5500 with a 19k gvw and got picked up by dot with a 10k trailer. i got some hefty tickets. Luckily, my trailer for landscaping is 7k. States do vary, but most of the time, with a f550 or 5500, you can t tow more than 7k or 6.5k trailers. Good luck. im in the same boat. Just stay local and prey every time you tow unless you have a cdl.

      @@rontopping2048 I understand that. It looks like the GCWR is purposely kept at 26,000lbs. If it is greater than 26,001lbs the operator would have to have a CDL (assuming they are operating the vehicle commercially). It’s the same reason GM sells de-rated 3/4 ton pickups with 10,000lbs GVWR to avoid needing DOT registration numbers.

    Not to be rude but everything you are complaining about with exception of the towing/ bouncing issue was known prior to buying. Tow specs are clear on these trucks. Did you not know you were buying a standard cab? Everyone is dealing with these emissions issues just take the truck on longer drives now and again for regen issues. Knowing the tow ratings in advance could have negated problems buy purchasing with an aluminum bed and aluminum trailor. Then gcwr is within limits and some extra. Just saying. 😅 still a great truck.
