This video is absolutely amazing
I am from Israel.
I accidently landed here and now you Couse me to buy tickets to Glasgow and going to do it on may 25.
Thanks so much for this detailed video.
You succeed to vanish all my fears from a backpack tour in a far country
Thanks for watching and I hope you have an amzing time in our small part of the world. Atb
Absolutely stunning Ray. Beautifully filmed mate...however I think the Highland scenery made it easy for ya. I would to have a crack at this next year. Also just noticed the Renegade Scot is no more. Was that an easy decision to make?
Thanks ๐It was a great walk mate and really enjoyed it after all the lockdown. Hope you get the chance to give it a go as it is a great trip. Not easy on name and just doing a little test ;) Atb
Need to do, got the book..its a start lol. Is that a ribz front pack..been looking for same...cant get them?
@@jasonpaterson1250 Yes it is but hard to get hold of now. Just need to keep an eye out online and ebay.
@@RS.Outdoors ideal, yeah handy bit of kit. Loving the vlogs.
And wasn't chocfull of midroll either ๐
My wife and I watched your WHW videos before we took your advice hiked it full kit finishing 7 April 23 in eight days fortunately with mostly good weather, we watched the winter WHW with Scotlands Mountains and now having done the walk in relatively good weather we were amazed at your determination in those conditions.
We are no spring chickens so many times we thought of giving up but for the encouragement of some great people we met along the way, we like watching your videos over again reminding us of the beautiful scenery of Scotland and how tough some sections were but that made it more rewarding.
Thanks for videos ๐๐๐
Wow, so glad you completed the hike and a great achievement. At times my films and others don't show how hard it can be at times but glad it was of some help. Wishing you Atb
i am going to have WHW in late March to FIRST week in April. How's weather your trip? not much cold? most accomodations opened?
I finished the WHW on the 6th of May , My 1st ever visit to Scotland and boy what a treat ! The trail is epic, scenery out of this world and the people made us feel very welcome , thank you Scotland, I now hold you dear to my heart ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐
Thank you Richard...where is it that you come from?...you are more than welcome to come back.
@@ChristophersMum Hi, Skegness in Lincolnshire , I served in the Army with afew Scots but never had the pleasure on visiting till this year , its a very special place , hopefully back to do the Great Glen Way later this year .
@@richardharrison5622 Remember to pack your thermals...no matter the time of year...I'm glad that you are coming back...for me, I wouldn't live anywhere else.
Nice one Richard. Did you use campsites or go wild all the way? Itโs on my list for this year but no idea how to approach the overnights
@@andypugh2000 hello mate , mix of both , wild camped but also stopped on sites , mainly because they are cheap , have showers and hot food with a cold beer , also either on or next to the trail , its a epic walk ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ๐
Ray, I really enjoyed your video. I love all the water & lush greenery along this trail. There is a long switchback in the Grand Canyon of Arizona called Devil's Staircase and another one called Jacob's Ladder, both are rather grueling. My father's family came to the U.S. in 1775 from Scotland & settled in Wilkes County, North Carolina. My wife & I visited Ireland many years ago on a business trip, but unfortunately we were unable to visit Scotland, perhaps one day. My dad served for 3 yrs. in World War II & was able to pass thru Scotland. He said he looked for our family's last name in the Glasgow phone book and there were 7 pages of Shores, apparently a very common name. However my middle name is Wallace, so I take some pride in that.
Thank you very much for sharing your story and really hope you get to come over and visit one day. Atb
I have to say Ray, I think this is the best CZcams account of the West Highland Way that Iโve seen (and Iโve watched plenty)๐คฃ. The photography is superb and the editing on point. Iโm itching to hike the second half of this trail before I reach and age where I canโt ! Iโm also amazed you did it in that time factoring in all the extra โb-rollโ miles that you had to add on! I shall watch this again tonight on the big screen. ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Thanks mate. Lots of extra faffing thats for sure. Not forgetting all the missed takes, waffle to camera and cursing :) Atb
I did the WHW back in 1983 when I was 18 with an old Vango Force 10 cotton orange tent.....before the days of lightweight gear. Could barely get my pack onto my back! Took me 10 days. Loved every minute. What a stunning walk it is. Was great to see it again. Fabulous film Ray. Many thanks.
Great stuff and Atb.
That was a lovely ramble, enough to make me want to do it.
Great video Ray. Thanks.
I have mountain bikes from Tyndrum to Fort William. Got the train down the line from FW to Tyndrum then cycle N. Pushed up the Devils staircase. Great down hill reward.
Yep, a cycle down the back to Tyndrum would be brill. Atb
Thanks Ray for taking us along, was great to see the places you had previously camped. Looked like a great shakedown for things to come. Let the camping gods be benevolent.
Cheers dave and thanks for watching. Atb
Great footage, beautiful views! Thanks for the hike, good impressions!
Thanks for watching!
Although my walking days are over...I still love to follow you young lads on your treks...they are all good and brings a smile of contentment...thank you Ray.๐๐๐๐๐๐
Thank you and thanks for watching, it's much appreciated. Atb
brilliant Ray, good to see you oot n aboot again, thanks for taking us along too. cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
Absolutely excellent as always Ray. Love watching and listening to you. Take care
Thank you kindly. Atb
Really enjoyed that thanks for the time and effort in the video! Iโm doing the west highland way in august canโt wait!
Have great time.
Great stuff Ray, weโll certainly be giving it a go. Thanks for sharing. ATB ๐๐ป
Hope you do. Atb
Thanks so much for taking us along on your trip. I miss Scotland a lot. Love your work. Off to watch some more. ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
Awesome, thank you!
Brilliant again Ray. Itโs a special walk and your video showed that perfectly. Thanks for taking us along.
Cheers Gary. Atb
as always, nice to see you out and about again! thanks, I enjoy the vlog bits
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
Good weather , water spout .
Can't wait to get out . Cheers
Thanks for that, the path seems really good. Glad youโve not had any feet issues.
All good. Atb
Fabulous, on our bucket list for sure.
Just get out there and do it :) Atb
Love it Ray, huge fan of your content. You can tell the amount of work that goes into the filming and editing when it feels effortless to watch and the time flies. Looking forward to the CWT vids ! Atb!
Glad you enjoy it! Atb
Well done Ray you absolutely smashed it. Great weather. A good bit of training for the Cape Wrath Trail.
Yes it was! Atb
Scotland is absolutely beautiful. I plan to do the Rob Roy way next year. Early summer and winter.
This has been my favourite West Highland Way video so far. Thanks for taking us along with ya! Glad to see thereโs so many opportunities for a beer and a burger along the trail ๐
Glad you enjoyed it!
Epic. Thank you for this.
What a great natural and non forced journey you shared and took me along. Thank you very much for sharing and look forward to following your future adventures. Cheers !
Cheers Mark, much appreciated. Atb
Excellent video, Ray. I had a loch side pitch at Sallochy Campsite back in June when I was up kayak camping, man alive, it was busy there. I was much happier when I moved on to Loch Chon.
ATB, Dave ๐
Thank you so much Ray, wonderful to see you getting back on track and letting us be part of it ๐ค we had to cancel our scotland trip last year but this video makes me hopeful that we can soon visit your beautiful country again. Stay safe and cheers for now ๐
Hope you get back soon. Atb
A great piece of filming and editing. Thank you for taking the time to do this. A great inspiration to a middle aged fat bloke who now is going to be dusting off some gear and definately going to get out there!!
Just go and do it as it's a long time dead mate. Atb
Beautiful Scottish countryside, thank you for your video!
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
I really like the way you film these. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks for watching! Atb
Thanks so much for your efforts Ray - thoroughly enjoyed every second of this, start to finish! ๐ป
Glad you enjoyed it mate. You know yourself how good it is. Atb
Fantastic ๐ brought back great memories from when i completed the WHW....Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Atb
What a great "guided tour" of the WHW! So much knowledge and so well put together. Have subbed and will watch more of your videos. Been far too long since I last walked in Scotland.
Glad you enjoyed it! Atb
That was just great, Ray. You managed to show the WHW in a whole new way that I haven't seen before. Many thanks. ๐๐
Thanks ๐
Man Ray well done!
Cheers Fergal. Atb
Same schedule I used on my 1st WHW, except I went over conic and stopped at Millarochy campsite. Wish I'd pushed on the extra few miles to Sallochy though, Day 2 up the loch was a killer! Good to see you out!
Cheers Pete. Sure there is also a high level bypass for the lochside as that low level trail is a peach. Atb
Terrific content. Walked and camped the way last September and cant wait to get back. We had our biblical rain between Beinglas and Tyndrum, but thankfully had stunning weather for the rest of the walk.
Cheers Bill. Atb
Outstanding Ray, definitely a motivational film to get back out on the hills and camping ๐. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
Have always wanted to do this walk. Thanks for all the fantastic information.
Glad you found it of use. Atb
Nice to see you out on a trail again , the scenery was fantastic and the dusting of snow made it for me , thanks for your time and effort Ray , looking forward to the next adventure already .
Hope to get a few more in now. Atb
Cracking video, best one Ive come across on the WHW. Definetley subscribing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Atb
Excellent vlog and great commentary. Thanks for taking us for the walk!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
Great video, I did the WHW in 1991...my daughterโs about to do it in June this year. Iโve sent her the link to your video to watch. One of the best videos of it Iโve seen. Well done ๐๐ป ๐
Thank you Linda and hope your daughter has an amazing time. Atb
I really enjoyed that, Ray. Many thanks. ๐
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
I walked it somewhere in the 90ties - wow a lot has changed. Most of it looks paved (-! And the campsites and buildings all look really fancy compared..
You did this so fast, we took more than a week. Fond memories, thanks - the stunning landscape still remains as for the burgers - and nice people on the way no doubt..
Cool. Although the trail has had upgrades it is still as remote at points as ever. Atb
I really enjoyed the video. I did the WHW in April 2019 and I still find myself watching videos of the walk. Yours is one of the best Iโve seen. Very well done!
Awesome! Thank you!
Brilliantly filmed and narrated - so easy going to watch. Very different when itโs your legs walking though ๐. I will try this when the novelty wares off and things quieted down a bit. Other campers snoring is too much ๐๐
Great watch Ray! I did the Way in May 2019. We were blessed with glorious weather for the whole time and it was a stunning walk. This brought back many good memories! Thanks for sharing and ATB, Andy.
Cheers Andy, Atb.
What a couple of years make. I did the WHW back in May 2018 had sunshine everyday. WHW was the highlight of my Lejog walk. The Kingshouse looks good, it was a building site back in 2018.
Great trip and epic scenery.
Cheers James. Atb
Took me back to my adventures of doing it twice (but I did take slightly longer each time )!!!! Itโs a fabulous walk and thanks for reminding me.
Glad you enjoyed it! Atb
Lovely, thank you for filming this.
Wife and I went up Conic Hill end of 2019, I was fairly blowing at the end of it with just a day pack! Lovely views though, once the clouds had cleared a bit.
Thanks for watching. Atb
Love this. Looking forward to trying this this year.
Great stuff. Atb
Thank you Ray for sharing your adventure, was a real pleasure to join you virtually all the best, stay safe.
Thanks for watching. Atb
Lovely video Ray. Brought back happy memories of backpacking the WHW in the early nineties. We took a week though so not as fast as you. We did it in the first week of October. We were so lucky with the weather. Clear blue skies every day, frost on the tent in the morning and a perfect temperature for walking. And NO midges at all! Great days. Take care my friend.
That is awesome! Atb
I really enjoyed following your journey with this video. Thank you xx
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was looking for Jimmy McGregor on the west Highland Way from the 80s. Can't seem to find anywhere I found your adventure instead and glad I did. Brilliant.
Many thanks for watching. Atb
You are helping a lot of us get through these troubled times chief, and for that I am thankful. It's always calming and inspiring to watch. Amazing footage and so professional. I love that you remind us, challenge us even, in the nicest way to experience these places with you and for ourselves. Peace and love to you sir. Have a wee coffee on me.
Thank you Dave much appreciated and kind gesture. Atb
Congratulations. And a macaroni pie from the green welly - superb
FANTASTIC .... loved every minute. Huge thanks from Cornwall.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cornwall is a nice spot in the world as was working down there for 13 months ;) Atb
Felt a little down this morning...then came across this...absolutely transfixed loved every minute of it..looking forward to watching more ...very much helped by the walker himself..very warm..wants you to feel part of it....
Glad you enjoyed it!

I have watched quite a few videos of the WHW, as me and 3 friends are doing it at the start of August, and this is by far the best video Iโve seen, really informative, cheers Ray, Luke ๐
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Ray, I thoroughly enjoyed this! It's lovely seeing you back doing what you love & you were visibly happy throughout - even when the weather went South on you. The videography was fantastic too, really well shot & put together. Looking forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve for next time :)
Cheers as always Scott. Thanks for watching. Atb
@@RS.Outdoors not a problem, fantastic work ๐ช
What a captured moment that water spout was! I was looking at it thinking "what is that" and "I wonder if he noticed that" and then you mentioned it!
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching, Atb.
I really enjoyed that. Very gentle and relaxing. Well done and thanks.
Many thanks!
Ray, I did the same schedule as you and loved it finishing on Wednesday. I did not book anything campsite wise and managed to get on everywhere(even during covid) I was not aware of there being really minimal rail service from Fort William so we'll worth taking into consideration. I did it alone but met lots of fantastic people along the route. Thanks again for a great video, will watch again to take it all in๐
Great stuff lee and glad you had a fantastic time. Atb
That scenery was stunning
At 0:50 appreciate little details! Good stuff. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it! Atb
Thoroughly enjoyed that Ray. I was going to say, 'still as a lily pond,' but hey it wasn't going to last. I'd have gone with the pod to. Reasonable finish. I'll do it one day. A great walk there. Mark
Think you would love it Mark and hope you get chance one day. Atb
WHW HYPE! What a super informative and beautifully filmed video! Atb Kev and Katie x
Thanks so much! ๐
Congratulation. An excellent walk. Super video too.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for that, now I have another trip I need to book. I'm heading up to the highlands in Feb and doing a ride from Edinburgh to London in May so might be able to fit this in to July.....looks awesome.
Great watch and great video again Ray. Really enjoyed that mate! The WHW is definitely on my list to smash out, maybe later this year I hope! ATB mate and take care!
Wonderful video of a stunning location, when the kids are older it on the list! Stay safe. Hardy
Great experience and hope you get the chance. Atb
That looked like an amazing trip through some stunning scenery. ๐๐
It was, thanks for watching. Atb
Excellent a friend of mine did this back in October I think it was. Rained the entire time!
Yeh, think I was lucky to get the weather I did, lol. Atb
great trip, perfect film . Well done.

Great video. I used to stop at the real food cafe in Tyndrum, they do great food for Coeliacs
Good to know! Atb
We met towards the end of the Lairig before you head off to Glen Nevis. That last day turned out to be relatively warm and dry. I never tire of the stretch between Ft William and Kinlochleven. Invariably a treat though it has its off days too. Nice video. Nice to have net you in the flesh.
Very nice to bump in to you and hope you had a great walk as well. Atb
thanks Ray other great film.
Thanks Robin. Atb
An excellent watch Ray - you certainly put a lot of effort into this video with all the extra back and forth to get shots. Didnโt look too busy๐ Thanks and hope you get on and complete the CWT this year. Tek care ๐
Thanks Graham. Not hat many folks when I was on it and think a lot of folks set off the day after me. I kept catching up with a young guy also doing it solo and you see him now and again in the film with a green raincover on his rucksack. Have to say when I was going along side of Loch lomond I was about ready to throw in the towel filming it. Atb
This is a brilliant video and the editing is superb, I'd say this is the best WHW video I've seen yet. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Atb
This is the first time RS I have watched anybody walking the West Highland Way.
Good Video enjoyed it, personally wish I had did the walk years ago when asked by mates but old father time catches up, so any youngsters watching if you get the chance get the bag on and do all these Scottish Hiking walks because after 40 time just fly's past.
Forget busy modern working lives put a sick line in and go. LOL
So true Cammy and thanks for watching. Another reason to try and complete the CWT on my bucket list before the body says no more :) Atb
Great watch as usual
Glad you enjoyed it. Atb
So many memories of my own trip ... loved it .. thanks again for sharing ..

Brilliant video Ray. 13 of us doing it on Monday, cannot wait to get going.
Great stuff and hope you have a fantastic time. Atb
brilliant Ray! I think myself and the WHW are one step closer
You have to do it mate. Atb
That was fantastic Ray, so calm and professional. Hats off to you for doing 20+ miles a day and still have the energy to do those walking shots. Iโve watched hundreds of WHW videos & the wife never pays any attention. This is the only video that she was engrossed in! Believe me that is a major compliment. She also spotted those boots and hiking tights you were wearing & is sending me off to update my kit....Iโll โaccidentallyโ show her a few more of your kit reviews....cheers buddy!
