Man Wakes Up and Finds Himself In The Far West, Armed With A Super Weapon

- Welcome to Movie Shortens. A mysterious stranger awakens in the Arizona desert with amnesia, and some kind of metallic contraption banded around his wrist. As the story progresses, he finds himself in prison after making his way to a nearby town called Absolution. Lights erupt in the distance, and an attack of UFOs appears out of the night sky, swooping down and capturing numerous townsfolk with wires that tug them into the sky after a volley of laser blasts and explosions.
As this gunslinger gradually recalls who he is and where he has been, he understands he is guarding a secret that could give the village a fighting chance against the extraterrestrial invasion. He gathers a posse of former opponents-townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws, and Apache warriors-all in risk of annihilation with the help of the elusive wanderer Ella. They'll prepare for an epic struggle for survival, united against a single foe.

This was definitely one of the better cowboy/sci fi crossover movies I ever watched growing up. The plot was engaging and was one of the first movies to actually introduce me the alien style movies

I remembered him and Olivia Wilde,but I didn't remember Harrison Ford,Paul Dano and Dean Stockwell being in it.Edit: After watching the complete recap there are a few other actors I know and didn't remember being in this as well. I must not have liked the movie😄

2010-2011 Olivia Wilde was something else.

Ok, if an Alien civilization can manipulate gravity to sail across the cosmos, you'd think they can do some nuclear chemistry to transmute gold.
It's called cowboy vs aliens not exactly the most realistic situation also why mine gold from a planet when a asteroid has a 100x more gold and is easier to process

_Cowboys and Aliens_ was a pretty good movie with a headliner cast. I never understood why it got poor to mediocre reviews and essentially flopped at the box office. Now that this reminded me of it, I think I'll find the DVD online and add it to my collection.
The critics have a general inability to enjoy internally serious movies with outlandish premises. That doesn't mean they're always wrong, but that you should take their biases into account.
When you got advanced technology... but no form of body armor
Tbf these guys could be a lower class then most their species, who knows since we have no idea about their history anything goes

@@Kodeuk did you not see the movie? they didn't use earth weapons they used the wrist Canon that the main character stole from the aliens, the only time they shot em is when they didn't have any armor or anything

This was actually a good movie. I happened to catch it randomly. A good Sunday afternoon movie while your cleaning or folding clothes. FYI Native American is the term used
I'm surprised this is the only comment calling out the use of "Indian."
In the time period the movie takes place as well as dialogue, Indian would be the more accurate term to use as it’s what people used at the time.

Most Native Americans on reservations today still call themselves Indians. I visited one with my college for a spring break cultural exchange trip and they were pretty much like "native americans" or "american indians" makes no difference to how much they suffer on a day to day and year to year basis. We need to stop being woke internet warriors cause no indigenous Americans(however you call them) is gonna benefit because we suddenly call them a more politically correct name. It also ultimately distracts us from actual initiatives that can help this portion of America that has become greatly marginalized.

I've seen the film, "Cowboys and Aliens" summarized in this installment of the Movie Shortens channel a half dozen times. I'll see it, at least, a half dozen more. It's a personal favorite! Spielberg aced it as he usually does with this tale of creative anachronism, combining both sci-fi elements with themes of the old west. It's an entertaining two-fer.
