    The life and downfall and subsequent resurrection of this historic relic is very well documented. It's total history is well known in collector circles. Joe did a marvelous save on it.

    How do you know it’s been 100 years since it last ran? I can’t imagine a machine of this magnitude being abandoned in 1914. Doesn’t make any sense.

    They only made these for four years, from 1911-1914 - so this one was almost new in 1914.. Why was such an expensive machine retired so early in its life? Seems like quite a big capital investment to just leave sitting around for the next century.
    How sure are we that it really sat still for all that time? What's the story?
