As someone who watched Buffy (and Angel), but also all of Star Trek I am very thankful that you guys not only review this show as you did with TNG, but especially with your critical and humorous perspectives. I am looking forward for every new video and appreciate your work, guys. So special thanks to you, Robert! :)

Love the channel and review guys. Loved watching Buffy when it came out, trust me, it's gonna get better and make sence when you get to 6x17. I recommend reviewing Sliders after this show 🤔.

"I thought it's weird" and the "why didn't he just use the phone" is a cultural thing. You didn't talk about serious stuff over an open line. You also didn't do delicate negotiations over the phone. "Face to face" was a frequently used idioms.
I often think the "holes" you point out reflect how much the culture has changed since this show was made. Sure... you "could" do certain things but you never "would" do them.
Also the fight with Xander and Anya didn't bug me at all. There is no "happily ever after" in real relationships. Each day, it starts all over again.
Up to 6.43k subscribers! Grats. Keep hoping you will strike the lightning. There are buffy fans out there.
Spike grew as a character over the series. I'm glad you are going thru the entire journey because "Once More with Feeling" is just around the corner.
On noticing things... I once worked in a large software project room with 50 other people. I wore (in order) a white shirt, a blue shirt, a purple shirt, and a pink shirt (switching every 2 and a half hours). No one noticed.
You'd be surprised what most people don't notice.
A wiseass man once said, "Oh! And you guys are so dumb, you miss all the context of the show!"
P.S. Whedon wasn't jealous. Whedon felt *deeply* that vampires are demons without souls and what the suits were forcing with Spike was violating the basic storytelling rules of his universe. It would be like having a third party stepping in and overriding you as a gamemaster in a gaming session. It would piss you off.
P.P.S. During this time frame in reality on the first run, Willow was insanely popular. Anya was still only an interesting side character.
P.P.P.S Of course, it's all my fault since I recommended you guys review the series. (as if I could remember that far back).

You must have missed James Marsters talking about this. It's both. Joss both had a fundamental problem with Spike being so well-liked, despite being a sadistic and murderous vampire (subverting the paradigm of the show), and he was seemingly both jealous of and annoyed by the constant attention Marsters was getting. Joss more or less said as much when he pushed Marsters up against a wall, and threatened his career (he says this was about the only real negative interaction he had with Whedon, surprisingly). He talks about it in an interview he did on the podcast "Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum". The two reasons were interrelated. I doubt he would have let it get to him if the character of Spike got attention for what he deemed the "right reasons", i.e., that he was reviled as a villain. Which I don't understand, as Joss was clearly enjoying writing comedic stuff for Spike; he was providing the platform for Spike to be even more likeable. I'm not sure what he expected. Marsters is a really good actor, and was doing the best he could with the material. And knowing that this was what was keeping him employed, he's obviously going to intentionally make Spike likeable, and use his good looks or whatever else to keep his job.

Wow I am one of 12 people watching this. I feel so special. :)
I always enjoy your reviews. And I don't like that they made an episode with a troll and all the troll does is trashing places. They should have come up with more than that but I guess it's a comedy series without better ideas. At least in Special Unit 2 they made the troll small and a thief which was a fun idea.

Just occurred to me watching this. What was the point of the fight over the nuns? Was it just so that they can still say she’s a “vampire slayer” before devolving again into teen drama?

Hurry up and get to the musical episode in season 6.
Instead of doing the comic book Seasons just go to Angel. That'll be pretty funny.
