    Disgusting behaviour by Anshba and Grammatikopoulou for trying to lie to the umpire saying that they didn't hit the ball back at 9:23. That's the kind of stuff other players will give you shit over in the locker room.
    And holy shit do the umpires just get worse every year? So many dumb mistakes

    • @joorhell
      @joorhell Před 2 lety +2

      Umpires are getting so used to tech, like hawkeye, replay, net sound they are basically just sitting there calling the score. They are just not used anymore to watch closely a ball or anything else. And like any other job, if you don't always act proactive mistakes will always be more and more imo.

      And yes, Anshba/Grammatikopoulou should be ashamed of themselves, they tried to confuse the umpire even more and capitalize on her initial mistake. They even tried to say "You called 15-15, you can change anymore", the nerves man, the NERVES. Disgraceful.

    Solution to 90% of problems in tennis: Mandate a reply scoreboard to show when/how things occurred. A replay with audio to see if a ball was returned or when a call was made. Absolutely no reason not to. That point with Tomljanovic at the end is a perfect example of why reply capabilities with audio need to be mandatory.
    I also think that arguments where a player is incorrect about the rules should lead to a fine. If you want to argue the rules you better know exactly what happened.

    • @olivergt23
      @olivergt23 Před 2 lety +1

      Case in point: at 15:35 Tomljanovic hits a 20 mph ball that almost bounces twice past Putinseva before the call comes. The ref lies(the record shows differently) that the call came as soon as it bounced, when it clearly bounces past Putinseva as she lets it go, then the call comes. It doesn’t get more obvious than that, and there’s no oversight. But fining players will make the system run smoother? 😂😂

    • @akaTelo

      I think the logic is because of the way Hawkeye works. Like it doesn't actually "record" the impact point. It tracks the ball and the system kind of "predicts" the contact zone. But I agree, even if Hawkeye may make a mistake sometimes, on the whole I think there would be less issues.

Bacchi is always making such horrible calls, he should no better like how can someone be so confidently wrong! @@einarsd4 Putintseva had obviously stopped play thinking the ball was going long, otherwise she would have at least put her racket on it. You can see her purposefully retracting her hand so that her racket doesn't touch the ball. And only after the bounce then the call came. However, in this case the umpire gave her the BOD because she was right there and he didn't catch her giving up the point. In my opinion, even if the ball was still playable, she couldn't have retrieved it even if a call didnt come.
