Honda Rebel CMX500 Review! Could This Be The Best Small Capacity Cruiser Motorbike?

  • In this video I ride and review the 2022 Honda Rebel 500, this bike has to be one of the best looking entry level cruisers on the market. I want to find out whether this would be a good first bike especially for A2 license holders.
I talk about the Parallel Twin Engine, Brakes, Suspension, Handling, Acceleration. And tell you exactly what to expect before you decide on whether this is the motorcycle for you! Is it a better choice than the Harley-Davidson Iron 883?

I've had a 2017 rebel 500 since it was first released. Though i am for sure ready for a bigger/more powerful bike and have been for a while it just hasn't been that attractive to me financially since i still have no desire whatsoever to sell the rebel. I did a cross country trip from Vic to Qld in Aus on it. 8 hrs a day and it was fine for comfort for me at 5.11. Think you hit the nail on the head of it being a perfect allrounder for anyone who loves the style and is newly into bikes. It's not that quick but it is punchy enough that it hasn't gotten boring either. I have a short vid of a spirited run thru the local hills if anyone is interested in seeing how it goes in the twisties.

I thought I had ridden my last bike when I sold my Triumph, but a couple of months ago I bought a 2017 Rebel. My prostate cancer has returned, and with my spine and hip getting occasional pain, I needed something low and light. So far, the Rebel is fantastic around the suburbs and short rides through the hills. It seems there are a few pretentious riders who look down on other bikes. But as the wise man said, the best bike is the one you enjoy riding.
Edit. The bike came with a different tail light and indicators, upgraded seat and Diablo twin pipe. But for me, the one mod that I like best is the engine fairing. It fills in the gap between the motor and the front wheel.

I’m a new rider and have only ridden the bike for a week. It is a very forgiving bike that feels more at home in corners than it does in the straights. It’s a cruiser behaving like a naked bike. It’s bad at cruising but it’s good at having fun.

I do not think the Honda Rebel 1100 is worth the extra money over the Rebel 500.
The Honda Rebel 500 is better looking because the 1100 engine with all the wires and hoses looks messy.
Both twins, both reach 100 mph and the Rebel 500 doesn't have all the electronic driving aid gizmos so going to be more reliable.

It's such a pretty bike, I used to have a 2018 one but I'd definitely get a newer one if I were to ever get another. I'd go for that matte silver colour!
I found the mirrors on mine were a bit useless but they definitely fit the look of the bike. It has to be the best looking a2 bike if you like the cruiser style. The lack of a rev indicator is a bit irritating but at least the newer ones have a gear indicator. My 2018 didn't even have that!
The exhaust sounds half decent for stock too. I can only imagine what it would sound like with a decent set of pipes on it :)

Pretty much my dream bike. I love it. I'm doing my A2 right! I would love to have it as a first bike, but its a bit expensive. And also the roads here in Budapest aren't the best. How is the riding comfort feel on worse, more bumpy roads?
Really good vid by the way. Just try using it in manual focus mode when you are shooting a standing scene, because you don't move so you can ste it up for the bike and then just walk behind the bike and it will be 10/10, but now it always focuses on stg else then comes back to you and the bike and it's a bit annoying. But either way great review! Can you maybe do Suzuki V-Strom 250? Or it's really not your style?
