    Thank you so much for giving us access to this user-friendly expense tracker. My question is if I want to add another expense e.g. school expenses how would I change the formulas to accommodate this and the chart. Thank you again

    Thank you for making this! I thought I'd create on myself, but found this to be exactly what I need. I just changed the categories to "Schedule C" terms, added a few, easily updated your formulas, and it's perfect so far. A big improvement to the sheets (without a form) I've been using. Liked. Commented. Subscribed. Thanks again.

    This is great, thank you for sharing! I couldn't, however, get the Form to copy. I copied the Excel spreadsheet, and the Income Tracker Form came across automatically, but the Expense Form didn't :( Any suggestions anyone?

      So I think I figured it out:
      You need to make a copy of the forms you don't have & open them in your drive. There will be a pop up saying that files need to be restored, hit "Restore." Then go to the "responses" tab in the form, and on the right hand side there should be the google sheets logo next to a hyperlink that says something like "no sheets linked." click that & hit "link sheet" & select your copy of the spreadsheet.
      it will make a new sheet with the purple forms logo at the bottom of the page in your spreadsheet, and you'll need to find the "expenses" or "income" sheet (whichever form you're trying to link) and delete it & rename your new sheet the same name.
      On the overview & income dashboard tabs there are errors now. to get around this, on the Monthly Overview select the first cell with data (B2), and copy the formula from the formula (fx) bar at the top. then delete the formula, and paste it back in. It should now show "$ -" in the cell. To apply to the rest of the cells hover over the bottom left corner of cell B2 until the cursor turns into a cross & click + drag to cell M2. while those cells are highlighted repeat the click+drag to row 13. Repeat for the weekly overview page
      for example: the expenses form did not link to the spreadsheet. I delete the existing expenses tab & link the copied expenses form to my copy of the spreadsheet. I rename the new tab that's appeared at the bottom of my spreadsheet "Expenses". To fix the errors that are on my weekly and monthly expenses now, I copy the formula from cell B2 then delete the formula, then I paste the formula back. Click+drag from B2 to the rest of the categories to apply the formula to the top row, then click+drag to apply to the rest of the table. I do the same to cell C2 on the weekly overview.

    Just a question, when I made a copy of the expense tracker, the form was not found alongside the copy of the expense tracker on my drive. Is there any way I can have the supposed 'automatic' form to be with, with my expense tracker copy? Thank you!

      So I think I figured it out:
      You need to make a copy of the forms you don't have & open them in your drive. There will be a pop up saying that files need to be restored, hit "Restore." Then go to the "responses" tab in the form, and on the right hand side there should be the google sheets logo next to a hyperlink that says something like "no sheets linked." click that & hit "link sheet" & select your copy of the spreadsheet.
      it will make a new sheet with the purple forms logo at the bottom of the page in your spreadsheet, and you'll need to find the "expenses" or "income" sheet (whichever form you're trying to link) and delete it & rename your new sheet the same name.

    So, how does this adjust for different years? Do i need to delete everything and redo it? I tried adding an expense for 2021, but nothing is showing up for it.

      not the OP, but there's an option when you're inputting the general spending options to instead input income. It's one of the categories alongside food, bills, etc.

    My expense tracker form is not automatically downloading with the download of the Expense Tracker. This is the income and expense tracker 2.2 - the most recent version on your website. Has anyone else had this problem?

      go to forms, responses and click on the green square and check if they are connected. if they are, check if the categories have the same names in both

      Okay actually i just figured it out. Change the name on your form, on your monthly expenses and on your graph. Now, when you go to the expenses tab with the list of your stuff, right click the box with the category you want to change. At the bottom click conditional formatting, and then on the right change the word you want to colorize

      I got it! Had to redownload the file from original link. I just copied that individual sheet from the folder and voila.

    Hi Deb. I am attempting to do a reconciliation of an account over 2 years. When I enter the data into the sheet back for 2021, it doesn't seem to be populating the tracker, rather it is showing dates from January through to December 2023 2022? Am I supposed to delete these dates or is there another way to have these pre loaded dates removed before I start?

    Hi! I recently got your newer version of this the 2.2 and I notice that the weekly overview not log the info you put in if its the present date. Like trying to log something on today's date during today it doesn't show up. Is it meant to do that? Is anyone else having this problem?

      File> Spreadsheet Settings and there should be a location and time setting.

    Hi, the income isnt working for me, whenever it generates theres an error
    Missing File Upload folders
    The folder containing responses to File Upload questions can't be found. This form won't resume collecting responses until the folder is restored.

    Hi Deborah!!! THAAAAANK YOU!!! This is amazing, I was just wondering, can I do this from a budget standpoint? For example, I put in my budget on the sheet beforehand, and then same as the form, I enter what was bought and it deducts from my budgeted amount and lets me know what is left?

    I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm about to unalive myself. I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly, until I decided to customize the categories and it stopped logging in the information I uploaded on the forms. so I decided to delete everything and start over, but now when I make a copy of the expense tracker the google form doesn't copy itself automatically and I don't know what to do and if you could save my life I would totally appreciate it

      okay soooo somehow in the span of five minutes it worked again but still is there a way I can edit the name and amount of categories and that the information I log in uploads to the sheet

    Hi Deb,
    Thank you for creating this. I have a quick question, would you put an emergency fund in the expense form? I want to keep track of my emergency fund in here as well and I would love your advice. i believe that is what I'll do. Any thoughts you have would be great.

      Add an emergency fund as a category :) that way you can input any time you add savings to it, and it will subtract from your income (you are putting it aside) 😀

    What do I do if the tracker form says this:
    "Missing File Upload folders
    The folder containing responses to File Upload questions can't be found. This form won't resume collecting responses until the folder is restored."

      Go to your form and press 'Restore' when the pop up shows up!

    hi deborah i recently downloaded your tracker 2.0 but every time i open the income and expense i get a error message saying "missing file upload folder"

      Open your income and expense form and there will be a pop up that prompts you to create a folder for your files :)
