    Hi! I randomly stumbled on your video on TikTok. I just spent all day today editing, updating and inputing data. I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I am a super organized person but struggled to find a good (free) app for my finances. I am so so excited to see people like you doing stuff like this! I already read another comment saying that you could make a profit out of this and I completely agree. There would be tons of people interested plus having your youtube videos as a support would definitely make it a success. Thank you so much and continue doing what you're doing! It's great!

      Thanks Gabriela you're too kind! :')
      I personally really don't like paying for things (haha) so that was definitely the incentive to put up the expense tracker for free, especially for people who are struggling with their finances. I honestly don't think it would've gone as far as it did if I asked for payment (even $1, or an email signup).
      I've honestly been so flattered by the amount of nice comments and generosity people have shown me (e.g. translating the trackers into different languages) - it makes it all worth it and motivates me to keep making cool stuff ^_^
      That being said, I'm a one trick pony and the Timeblock Planner/Expense Tracker is all I have (haha).

      it would be easier if you added a new column next to Income. then add a category in the Google Form for Savings. and continue to do the same with the Google Sheet, color code, rename, etc.

      Emily Lucas lets say you've put two jobs in columns O and P and your total income is in column Q. Lets also say January is row 2. In the formula bar for January in the total column (Q), type "=SUM(O2+P2)". So, in Q2 in the formula bar, type "=SUM(O2+P2)". Substitute letters and numbers to suit what you have‼️

    Quick note for entering not whole numbers. In my currency(Bulgarian lev) the number is devided with a ,(comma) and not with a .(dot). So if I want to enter a number like that it won't let me. I went in the form and changed the field format to be text and not number. So now I can enter 11,34 and in the spreadsheet it will recognize it as a number even if the formatting is done as a text in the form. Works great for now.

    I know this is kind of an old video. But how do I deal with buying on Credit card, and then paying credit card bill? If I buy 500 worth of groceries on credit, and then pay 400 dollars to my credit card under the bills column then it pings my monthly budget for 900$, but that isn't what I spent. I don't necessarily need to track my credit card balance though.

    • @xFrenzy47x

      Sort of, make the purchase date not required. So you can save without it and then in the Monthly Expenses tab update the formulas so that wherever it uses Purchase Date, it instead uses the Timestamp column.
      Alternatively, you can be really fancy and instead have it check the Purchase date column if the column is blank it'll use the timestamp, else it will use the Purchase Date. For times when you forgot to add it to the specific date.

    Hey Deborah, I love your videos. I have a question, hopefully you can answer it. There is something that has been happening to me, I had to delete an expense on my excel sheet and google form, and when I added the correct one, it just jumped down 2 cells on the sheet, how can I fix this problem?

    Hey Deb! Please help me understand, what do i do with transfers between accounts? What's the best and easiest way to manage them?

    • @debbbag
      @debbbag  Před 3 lety

      What you can do is have your income act as your main account, and make a new category for every bank account you have (e.g short term savings, long term savings). So when you 'transfer' money into your savings account you can add it under thar category and it takes money from your income and puts it into your category 'Short Term Savings'. When you take money out of your account 'Short Term Savings', just put it as a negative (-$300). That money will go back to your 'Main Account/Income' :) Hope that makes sense!

And another small problem, in fist graph new series color wouldn't apply and i cant change it. Does anyone know how to change it? Second graph works good.

    • @xFrenzy47x
      @xFrenzy47x Před 4 lety

    • @festiefever19
      @festiefever19 Před 4 lety

      You can enter amounts for income or any expense as many times as you need. I'm casual and get paid weekly so I just enter the amount I get paid on what day each time I get paid. So if I get paid four times a month there will be four income values in the tracker.

  • @isabelaassuncao9706
    @isabelaassuncao9706 Před 3 lety

    In Brazil there's always an option to split an expense so you can pay it during the months to come. An example would be: I bought a coat that costs $300, but I want to pay it during the time of 3 months, so my credit card will charme me for $100 during this time. It's not ideal but we use it a lot. Do you have any suggestions on how to apply it to this spreadsheet?

    • @debbbag
      @debbbag  Před 3 lety

      I would probably input 3 x payments at once ($100, $100, $100), but set the Purchase Date of each $100 to be different months (Jan, Feb, March) - that way you do it at the same time, but they payment doesn't show up only in the one month :)

  • @TheDonOre

    Hello! Such an amazing tool! one question, could you show us how to set as default the current date on the form? and make the date field optional in case we want to use it and add a date different than the current?

    • @debbbag
      @debbbag  Před 3 lety

      I'm not too sure if Google allows current date to be set automatically, you have to select it from the window...
      However to make the date field optional all you gotta do is just untick the "required" toggle when you set up your question in the form :) You can do that with any of the questions.

    Hi!
    Thanks so much for this form.
    I´ve changed the currancy according to this video. It works in the tracker.
    I live in Europe and now my form glitches. The tracker displays numbers as 5,78 but the form won´t let me fill in a comma. So any new expenses I fill in the form aren't documented correctly.
    Do you have any idea how I can fix this?

  • @one-uptechnologiesinc.7323

    I followed the instructions in the video. The dates format is correct, nothing is added to the chart when I input an expense in the form. The form recognizes the correct entry, nothing is reflected in the monthly expenses. I know it's some simple formatting and I can not figure out why it won't reflect my expenses. It works if it's the preset categories the original copy of the chart has. It's like if I change the name of the category, the formatting does not recognize the change and results in nothing in the monthly expenses...?? Cheers from Canada

I realise now it literally says to put the full year but just in case anyone else was here trying to troubleshoot wanted to help out

    • @samvelking
      @samvelking Před 4 lety +1

      yes, if you go to the Google Form you can add a new "question" and rename it "Payment Method" You have the choice of making it a short answer or multiple choice. I chose multiple choice since i only have 3 credit cards so I just added the last 4 numbers and a cash section as well. then I can select it whenever i input a new expense. you'll have to create a new column under the Google Sheet for Payment Method. Hope that makes sense. I also added a column for receipts so i can take a picture of the receipt if i want to.

    • @KayteaKrumbs
      @KayteaKrumbs Před 4 lety

      @@samvelking that makes sense, but then how would you add a column for this in the monthly sheet that automatically enters that data? I guess I'm asking how do you get the sheets to talk to each other? I'm sure there's a formula, just not sure what it is

    • @samvelking
      @samvelking Před 4 lety

      Katie K so I have 3 sheets open on my expense tracker sheet. 1) is the monthly expenses sheet, which tracks the daily expenses I add with the Form. 2) year 2020 with the months separated like she did. 3) year 2021 same thing.
      On the monthly expense sheet you can create a new column and label it the same ie "payment method" and if you add a new question on the Google form and label it payment method it'll automatically add it in that column on the monthly expenses sheet or at least it did for me
