As someone who has spent countless hours on MOO2 without any regret and a few how on MOO3 with significant regret, I feel that I can safely say that this is Masters of Orion in name only. Perhaps they used some of the races or tech or artwork from the games, but unless I missed the impressive part, this looks to be a dry vanilla tableau builder cake with IP frosting.
Have to agree with the other comments in that this is not what I was expecting from a 4x game. It doesn't seem to deserve the Masters of Orion name attach to it. There is no real exploration or anything else that reminds me of Masters of Orion.
I have a question about the Vid and the rules. From my understanding the cards in your hand don't give you resources as the rules first say "All cards placed on the table in front of you (i.e.,Structures you have built and the Advisor you have hired) are considered yours. All other cards, including the cards in your hand, are not considered your cards." Then it says: "There are four ways to gain resources: through YOUR cards at the start of the round...." and later under "Gain resources" there are only the cards that you have build, not the hand cards. Is that right as I am not a native english speaker I am bit confused because in from the Video I understood it as if your handcards count too.
Looks like, based on these comments, you need to have no knowledge of the MoO PC game to enjoy it. I have never played the PC game. I just played this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it
Variance is hard to build for. A few 4x space board games have done a good job of galaxy generation but mostly they don't - they've avoided having to solve that problem here

Reminds me an Eminant Domain. The game looks fine but it's not a Master of Orion. Twilight Imperium is a Master of Orion.

where can i buy it ?
They turned a classic 4X into a cube-pusher with the randomness of cards? Kinda disappointing.
Great review, annoying microphone. ;-)
Why isn't this a 4x game... doesn't look very moo to me
