- Beginner Fran asks expert Scott to join her in an unlikely partnership.
In this scene: Scott Hastings (Paul Mercurio), Fran (Tara Morice)
About Strictly Ballroom:
This wildly off-beat comedy is about a male dancer who refuses to follow the accepted rules of ballroom dancing and creates his own style of choreography, which infuriates the ballroom dancing establishment. Before he's scheduled to compete in the Pan-Pacific ballroom championships, he's forced to take up a new partner, a beginner who initially seems without promise. With his help, she turns into an assured and wonderful dancer.

"How long have you been here?"
"2 years?" ROFL!!!
Hahaha
😂😂😂
One of the things I like most about this movie, apart from the fact that it’s funny as hell, is that, after the first ten minutes or so, you know exactly how it’s going to end but it DOES NOT MATTER because it’s so much fun getting there.
AMONGUS
facebook mom ALERT!
She was exactly the right partner. Sure she isn’t classically trained but she has heart and spirit and was brave. She opened up his world to what dancing was supposed to be about, not flashy costumes and intricate moves out of a rule book. Plus her family was the one who taught him how to properly dance the Paso doble
Its not real
@@prolefeed9371 Just because this is fictional doesn’t mean people cannot comment on the characters or plot.
And showed him real love
She's all about breaking the conventional rules and isn't afraid to.stand up to him without demeaning him.
a life lived in fear is a life half lived
🧡💛❤💜💚
Classic movie that shows movies don't need to invest $100 million dollars to be successful and stand the test of time.
I Love this movie. All The time. Thank you Paul and Tara 😘😘😘
I love this movie too! I remember my friend and i would watch this when we had sleepovers.
Dear GOD, he is gorgeous!
He's aged out of his looks rather dramatically. He looks really different now.
Ya I saw. So he'll live forever as in this movie in my head.
@@evelineyy
@@evelineyyto be fair, he wrecked his body (his knees especially) dancing professional ballet since childhood. He did do some more acting but also some TV here in Australia, and became a restaurateur too. He is now a politician, and a really kind and nice guy. (Having met him recently in our local community )
Saw this twice at a local theatre and both times the audience clapped at the end.
When she said she was looking for someone... she means him. 🙂
Fran is having a highly relatable bad hair moment here. I felt that.
I love how through out this movie she gets prettier and prettier
but still a down to earth prettier and prettier, something still relatable
Brings tears of joy
I love this movie❤️
Me, too. Probably my favorite. I also love Muriel's Wedding and Cosi.
In my top 3 for sure. I've watched it numerous times. Great cast. Also love Muriel's Wedding, Cosi and Lawn Dogs.
Aussie classic .
I forgot how funny this movie is.
OH MY GOD I JUST REALIZED FRAN IS ALSO MISS RAYNE FROM 'DANCE ACADEMY'! ♥😲🤤

This is a cult favorite in America.
This is probably my favorite movie
Amo essa cena.
dinner is amazing
I am from Peru, but man ! there is something so unique, and so sexy about Australian and New Zealand women when they scream at me, or when am being yell at or reprimanded by them. I love different accents from around the world and all, but by far my favorite, especially when angered , Australian and New Zealand women. Hopefully that doesn't sound weird.
yes it sound weird, because Australian woman are like brits and Americans, sin pasion, y muy aburridas, no olvides que esto es una pelicula... viva el pueblo latino, las mujeres son las autenticas!
un saludo desde España
@@tinotrivino Don't know about that. in my experience, many Spanish women are just as boring as you say American, Australian and British women are. But as I said, this is just my opinion.
Tino is obviously jealous
Paul Mercurio is a very cool Aussie Italian actor 😊
How is he still an amateur if he's been dancing since he was six? What exactly is an 'open amateur' and how is it different from a beginner?
I think they say "upper amateur" which gives more sense in this case. But not sure 🙄
In dance sport, an open amateur is the highest level a dancer can reach because they've already one a championship. They compete at Grand Prix level and can afford to skip smaller competitions because they don't need to worry about building the points to increase their rank. Dancesport isn't considered a professional sport the way tennis or football is. The majority of dancers who compete at the highest level also have other careers.
😘😉
Track ID anyone???
Same director as Australia film
Track ID at the beginning anyone?
looking for this hard!!!
@@annabelross6032 any joy?
Does anyone know what she said in her language?
Vivir con miedo es como vivir a medias. Living your life in fear is only living half your life?
@@jaymieindigo-blue4203 To live with fear, is how to live halfway.
@@vaniamelamed5285 nope.
I checked and it's... living your life in fear is only half living.
@@vaniamelamed5285 nope.
I checked and it's... living your life in fear is only half living.
@@jaymieindigo-blue4203 Twice she uses the infinitive 'vivir' (to live). She neither says 'Su vida' to indicate possessive nor conjugate 'vivir' in past tense. Despite this grammatical specificity, all translations here are correct contextually.
The Problem here... she cant speak spanish .. and that sucks... for a spanish person who understand it!
This is common among those born in Australia to migrant parents. They don’t always learn the language properly, or not at all.

I saw this movie twice in a neighborhood theater; both times the audience applauded at the end.
