  • This is one of five videos in the PERFORM Toolkit for Teachers. These videos introduce students to scientists from across Europe who are in the early stages of their careers. The videos should help to de-mystify what it is like to be a scientist and maybe even challenge some stereotypes!
The first half of the video, Meet The Scientist, introduces the researcher, reveals their reasons for going into their field of science and gives their take on what it is like to be a scientist. This section is designed to give insight into careers in science and life as a scientist. The second half of the video, The Bigger Picture, highlights the links between science and our lives as citizens, including ethical dilemmas researchers face when carrying out their research. This section is designed to support discussion on the relationship between science and society.
The PERFORM Toolkit for Teachers provides supporting documentation to accompany each video and suggestions for how teachers can use the videos in the classroom to inspire students to consider a career in science for themselves. The PERFORM Toolkit for Teachers provides secondary science teachers with a series of resources to help stimulate discussion on science and society in the classroom. The activities in the toolkit are based on ideas and performance techniques used during PERFORM teacher training across the UK, France and Spain during the PERFORM project in 2016-2018.

@@nimra7569 I'm still going at it! Now in the beginning of my 3rd year. Plan is to complete within 4 years and up until now it still seems feasible! After that, most likely back to industry!

I am a graduated student. I want to study Biochemistry. It's very cool subject with two dimensions. Chemistry is one of my favorite subjects that can led us to discovery of new medicine.

@@letsameliorate1351 You could pick research topics that completely bypass in vivo mammal experiments, but you'd be going over a vast resource including transgenic mice.
Best case, you could do microbial experimentation, using yeast (or some other fungus), or model bacterium like E.coli.
