Sucks that they omit saying "djävulen" (the devil) and replace it with a vague and heavily censored "ondskan" (evil) instead. Moreover there's virtually no direct mention of Hell, only vague references which makes the lyricism of this version lack the same poignance and poetry of the original and even other dubs; really my biggest gripe with this but it is a great dub overall in regards to the voice acting quality. Rest in Peace Stefan Ljungqvist, you had an amazing voice.

What a great version of this song! Stefan Ljungqvist has a glorious voice that works wonderfully with a character like Frollo. I'm a big fan of Tony Jay, so I can't possibly choose a favorite between the two.
As a swede I grew up with the good old disneys in swedish, but in older days I've watched alot of them in the original language, and I agree. There was a time when we swedes was amazing at dubbing movies. I can't say the same about the actors today.
how in hell is the english version boring!? none of the swedish and english version are boring. They're powerful. This one has a singer with a different tone to his voice unlike the english. The song is about falling insane, how his lust is making him insanse since he wants to be free of sin. He's a man of god and he whishes not to fall for lust. at least in his eyes. Both these versions of the song captures it perfectly.
+19putte92 To be fair, watching these older Swedish dubs without nostalgia-glasses, they are equally good as the dubs nowadays. What makes you think Swedes were better at dubbing before depends mostly on nostalgia, that's how it's always been.
+Adam Cederblad Of course nostalgia plays its part in my judgement, but I stand by my statement. Previous actors were way better at dubbing than the present ones. I'm not saying that they all suck but they do suck in generall. Especially when you compare them with the "older" ones.
I really like the swedish version :-D... but I had to laugh at 2:29 because it is sooo close to german here XD. I could understand some words before... but this was so clear and just funny.
blackhagalaz just out of curiosity, how much of swedish do you understand? :p because when I hest german I sometimes dont understand a singel Word and then all of a Sudden I understand a full sentence because I'ts so similar to swedish and it makes me laugh haha. Like, I was watching the little mermaid in german and triton Said something like: Hast du verstand verloren ( sorry for my shitty german I'm just guessing) and It sounded almost excactly like swedish which is Har du förlorat förståndet
Yeah. The german grammar is just really similar to the swedish(Well or the other way around). I am learning Finnish now and I guess swedish will just be the easiest language for me to learn in future
Oh yeah its hard. There are some words the finns adapted trom the swedes (Finnland was part of the swedish empire for 400 years) and they are easy because they are from the germanic, but the rest ist really hard to remember sometimes XD
Monzaemon Apollon Listened to the polish version, I loved his voice but the language is so short worded, aggressive and hard. that it doesn't flow so well with the songs long tones. But other than that it was my favorite version after the swedish one :)
The purpose of any company is to make money. Are these stories 1. well-known enough to be desired like common United States/European lore such as the "Wind in the Willows", the "Headless Horseman" aka "The Legend of Sleepy Hallow", "Tarzan", "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" etc.? 2. Is the base content tolerable for the US child as per legal standards? 3. Is there good reason to believe that a sufficient audience would interested with these stories? 4. Is anything in copyrighted existence that is similar to said stories. if yes, can said story be movieified while remaining sufficiently consistent with the original story and sufficiently different from any other copyrighted work? 5. As those who research the original Brothers Grimm stories ("Cinderella", "The Frog Prince", "Hansel and Gretel", "Rapunzel", "Rumpelstiltskin", and "Snow White" etc.) movie officials know that the Brothers Grimm stories have a lot more violence and other elements than is unacceptable within United States culture for children, so many (if not all) were euphemized to be tolerable by US censor standards aka the Motion Picture Association of America system. 6. Would it be "politically correct" (a current problem within the States of America or at least a sensitive topic in the States these days) to movieify it? 7. After being censored and "censor approved" (if at all of either) would said movies be sufficiently accurate representations of the originals? Conclusion: It must all be a legitimate, sufficient, and in this day and age "politically correct" [unfortunately (not that political correctness in inherently bad, it's just over-used frivolously and commonly)] source of money, so are these stories marketable? Suggestion: Are you aware of any Swedish stories consistent with the above criteria, if yes, you might want to suggest them to the US Disney officials said story or you might be able to post to the Swedish Disney Cooperation (assuming that exist and are licensed any actuality make movies and not just dub them).
***** ohh yeah there are a lot of stories. Some have been translated from Swedish animations but can be remade by Disney. Just have a google and you will recognize a lot of stories.
Jazze556 The midsommarstång is not a "swedish" tradition but a nordic tradition. It's commonly shared from our shared past so calling ti only swedish would be wrong. Frozens landscape is mostly based on norweigan landscapes and I'd love one with a more Danish, Swedish or Finnish version. But that is for Disney to decide.
Wow, I'm really surprised that so many foreign people who actually like the sound of the Swedish language even thou they doesn't understand anything. I always thought that the Scandinavian languages from the Germanic branch must sound kinda harsh and a bit corny to someone from the outside :)
The reason this sounds so good, is because it's a preformance by swedish opera icon: Stefan Ljungqvist.

I don't speak a word of Swedish, so I'm deeply curious as to whether the heavily rolled Rs are a function of the language or just the VA thinking it sounded awesome (which it totally does). Anybody able to shed some light on the issue?
It's a function of the language, but his singing style does emphasize it a bit more than you'd hear talking to a swede. The 'R' you hear during the talking bits is more accurate.
Late answer, but maybe someone else wants to know. Rolling R’s are pretty much a part of a strong majority of Swedish dialects. But Frodo’s voice actor is going for what is considered an old timey, proper and authoritarian voice style, and has a bigger emphasis on the R’s (and many other sounds as well) then what is common, especially when he sings. He basically articulates his words more than like 99.99% people who speak Swedish do.
roll them fucking r's!

Vila i djupaste frid Stefan Ljungqvist 😪🌹
Swedish Saruman?
Basically
HAH!
They actually do have rather similar voices! :D
Fun fact!
The Singer is a Bas Opera Singer and he made the voice behind the villain in Pocahontas
Or Voldemort.
Christopher Lee could actually speak Swedish :) just a fun fact
Why can't I stop listening to this one? The English version sounds tame and boring in comparison.
SergantSwiftblade I Guess we disagree on that point.
Especially when you compare them with the "older" ones.
no wonder sweden is one of the happiest countries in the world. this is ART
This is already tied with another song for being my favorite song ever.
This is without doubt one of the best dubs, so much better than the original. It is nice being Swedish.
Skitbra. Passade verkligen Frollo. :)
this is so powerful... i think i need a moment
I really like the swedish version :-D... but I had to laugh at 2:29 because it is sooo close to german here XD. I could understand some words before... but this was so clear and just funny.
:)
Haha Yeah... I read your comment before arriving at 2:29 :D so true xD
blackhagalaz just out of curiosity, how much of swedish do you understand?
He is an opera singer, the voice actor doing this :D
This is the best version!
polish is good to ;)
Monzaemon Apollon
Listened to the polish version, I loved his voice but the language is so short worded, aggressive and hard. that it doesn't flow so well with the songs long tones. But other than that it was my favorite version after the swedish one :)
My language isn't agressive.
Didn't mean to offend you. For that i appologize.
I undrestand, don't worry xD.
Polish languase isn't agressive, polish people're agressive. Me to... a little :)
Swedish voice go rrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
I wish he held some of his notes longer. One of the most intense versions for sure though!
When is there going to be a disney movie based on a story from sweden??? We have a lot of cool stories!!
The purpose of any company is to make money. Are these stories
1. well-known enough to be desired like common United States/European lore such as the "Wind in the Willows", the "Headless Horseman" aka "The Legend of Sleepy Hallow", "Tarzan", "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" etc.?
Frozen is based of Swedish/Norweigan/Danish culture. The "midsommarstång" is Swedish tradition.
Like what?
Jazze556 The midsommarstång is not a "swedish" tradition but a nordic tradition. It's commonly shared from our shared past so calling ti only swedish would be wrong. Frozens landscape is mostly based on norweigan landscapes and I'd love one with a more Danish, Swedish or Finnish version. But that is for Disney to decide.
I'm from Italy and I think that this version is one of my favourite... like French
Wow, I'm really surprised that so many foreign people who actually like the sound of the Swedish language even thou they doesn't understand anything. I always thought that the Scandinavian languages from the Germanic branch must sound kinda harsh and a bit corny to someone from the outside :)
3milio0o L4r220n They do sound harsh. That's why they are perfect for villain songs :D
Janka Rohde Yes. And besides, I like how these languages sound. Make me want to learn them.
I don't want to offend you, but I don't like your language. I only like the song because of the voice actor
One of the best
Bra svensk dubbning, bra rim i sångtexten.....
I just love when music and animation blends together like this, especially good music and good animation.
The reason this sounds so good, is because it's a preformance by swedish opera icon: Stefan Ljungqvist.
Best version with French version ♥
nahhhh
helga Maria
Du vet jag är en ärlig man
Genom livet går jag stolt och from
O helga Maria
Varför rör hon hjärtat mitt just då?
Hon känns alltför nära
Och hennes hår har magisk glans
Jag är förlorad utan allt förstånd
Som eldar
Det brinner
Som glöd in i mitt skinn
Den elden, den hinner
Ta död på själen min
Inte mitt fel
Det som har hänt
Det är zigenerskan
Som flammorna har tänt
Inte mitt fel
Det är guds hand
Han skapat ondskan
Starkare än varje man
Frollo: Vad?
Vakt: Hon finns inte i katedralen,
hon är borta.
Frollo: Men hur, jag-? Det var inget.
Försvinn, din idiot!
Jag hittar henne, jag hittar henne om
jag så ska bränna ner hela Paris!)
Som eldar
Det brinner
Zigenerska jag hör
Bli min nu, jag vinner
För annars ska du dö!
Gud förbarma dig nu
Gud förbarma dig nu
Blir hon inte min

Thank you so much! I am learning the swedish language, this text will help me to understand the entire song.
@@kurtph6286 GREAT! =D

*muttering* *muttering* VERSCHWINDE! *muttering*
Hey, that sounded German :D
Cat Rat haha, in swedish it's spelled försvinn :p
Haha, he really pronounces 'r' very strongly xD Usually it's pronounced softer in Swedish, but it really fits with this song - it sounds older and stricter, which suits Frollo perfectly :)
Really depends what part of Sweden you’re from
I did not realize how similar the voices of Swedish and Finnish voice actors for Frollo were until just now 😳
It's absolutely awesome. I love Swedish.
Learning Swedish due to this song(;

@@sune6708 how's it going with that? :-)
Still going strong?
The 'r's got me...Now I can sleep :)

The English "r" can't be rolled like that.
Haha this far I thought the finnish version was the best, but now this takes place number 1! Greetings from Finland.
Goosebumps!
I Like this Guys Voice is so amazing :D

This, along with the Greek one are definitelly the best.
Thank you! Good to know.
Som eldar, de brinner.
(Like fires, they burn.)
Logic. Frollo gets it.
He said, Som eldar, det brinner (Like fire, it burns)
Sounds great
Frollo låter som en svensk Cristopher Lee. :D
Wow, was watching this in other languages and then remembered that I had not heard it in my own. This was very very good.
Jezus, this guy would win a contest if there were one for Fastest Consecutive Words Spoken with a Rolled R.
@ZaraMikazuki
totallly man its incredible and the animation is just astonishing.,
