Great pick and great reaction! New sub!
Angra is primarily a POWER METAL band from Brazil, one of the great bands of this genre in the world. They started in 1991 and are still active like many Power Metal bands from the 80's and 90's. It's normal to see some slower songs like this in this genre, but most songs are usually faster and/or heavier. Power Metal is a subgenre of Heavy Metal, it's rich in detail with prominent double kick drums and breathtaking guitar solos as some of its main signatures as well as great male singers reaching really high notes.
Power Metal bands like Angra, Helloween, Gamma Ray, EdGuy, Avantasia, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, etc, are extremely talented but are usually more popular internationally, especially in Europe and South America, that's probably why many people haven't heard of them in the US, but that's been slowly changing lately. One of the most famous Power Metal bands from the US is probably KAMELOT, also worth checking!
This is the original singer, ANDRÉ MATOS, recognized as one of the most powerful voices in this genre. Sadly, he passed away prematurely in 2019. The current singer is Fabio Lione, former singer of the famous Italian Symphonic Power Metal band Rhapsody.
I noticed how you appreciate good music, and I think you will love to continue the Angra rabbit hole and will discover lots of high-quality music!
I highly suggest starting with the album TEMPLE OF SHADOWS which is a concept album telling an interesting story about the life of a crusader(know as Shadow Hunter) in the 11th century questioning the ideology of the Catholic Church. Many consider this album a metal MASTERPIECE. You can react to the entire album in order, and I promise you will NOT regret! This album has their second singer EDU FALASCHI who also has a great voice. (In 1994, both EDU and ANDRÉ were some of the singers selected for a contest to join Iron Maiden). Temple of Shadows had some renowned guest singers, like German singer Kai Hansen(Helloween/Gamma Ray), simply considered the fathers of Power Metal. Angra's guitarist at the time, Kiko Loureiro is currently with Megadeth.
Here's the official TEMPLE OF SHADOWS playlist for you: (1st song Deus Le Volt is the intro and supposed to be listened to in sequence with the second Spread Your Fire.)
    - czcams.com/video/RVODG7IvK9M/video.html
Also highly recommended to react to the live TEMPE OF SHADOWS CONCERT with an unbelivable full orchestra and Kai Hansen on stage. Also a masterpiece concert:
    - czcams.com/video/Zfi2vArG6Q4/video.html
If you enjoy great drums, here's their drummer in Temple of Shadows showing off his amazing skills in detail:
    - czcams.com/video/K5mm-qaCiw4/video.html
Of course, older songs with André are a must, especially as they highlight André's powerful voice. Here are some suggestions:
    - Carry On - czcams.com/video/LqaDmOLRhME/video.html
    - Make Believe: czcams.com/video/j1kNmgaIY7M/video.html
    - Never Understand (Intro is regional Brazilian music) - czcams.com/video/tmJa6-CFX2o/video.html
    - Wuthering Heights (Kate Bush cover) - czcams.com/video/SMiKO-r1smg/video.html
    - Angels Cry: czcams.com/video/Yuz6xdTsFRw/video.html
Another very popular reaction on CZcams is Andre's live performance FAIRY TALE with his other band SHAMAAN after he left Angra:
    - czcams.com/video/Xg_gOqZudKI/video.html
If you want to go deeper into the POWER METAL rabbit hole, I strongly suggest reacting to the fathers of Power Metal, HELLOWEEN and possibly the best singer in this genre of all time, MICHAEL KISKE. A few good examples:
    - Eagle Fly Free: czcams.com/video/LxOJNplODCE/video.html
    - Keeper of the Seven Keys: czcams.com/video/ZUzpf3mMsxA/video.html
    - Halloween: czcams.com/video/LBvGfM-YFy4/video.html
For something closer to home, I suggest American Power Metal band KAMELOT. My favorite performances from them are with the amazing singer ROY KHAN from the ONE COLD WINTER NIGHT concert:
    - Elizabeth (Part 1, 2 and 3 Live): czcams.com/video/ecvHBLadaxM/video.html
    - Center of the Universe (Live): czcams.com/video/JBl1UPJvbUY/video.html
    - Forever (Live): czcams.com/video/EqqPYySZnVY/video.html
    - The whole concert if you are interested (worth it): czcams.com/video/IjK0CnggAPc/video.html
There's a lot more amazing stuff from Kamelot and the other Power Metal bands I mentioned.
You are a great reactor and I hope to see more ANGRA and POWER METAL on your channel. I'm sure a lot of international fans will be eager to follow your journey and see your channel grow even more!

I am a big fan of Angra, They are Brazilian. I never heard of them until I started looking for older metal bands, as I am not satisfied with the majority of the modern groups. I like a wide variety of metal, rock, progressive, etc. And Angra feels utterly unique in their genre. I love their music and they're lyrics. It takes me to a soulful/spiritual place.

Angra is Brazilian band from the early 90s, and they are still active. They were more famous in Japan and Europe. This is the first lineup. The vocalist is André Matos, who unfortunately died, and the lead guitar is Kiko Loureiro, who now plays for Megadeth. You might want to check their second album 'Holy Land', as they used lots of Brazilian features. The second lineup is with a different vocal, bass player and drummer. They are currently in the third lineup.

Also, you must check out his work Shaman- "Fairy Tale".

angra is absolutely legendary, and so was André. Angra a brazilian progressive power metal group. You should really check out their albums angels cry (their first album), holy land (concept album about the discovery of brazil. they feature very cool influence from traditional brazilian native music on that one) and temple of hate (the singer on this one is Edu Falaschi, also very talented singer closer in style to bruce dickinson of iron maiden. this one is also a concept album about a soldier in the popes army during the crusades of the 11th century and his faith conflicting with what he witnesses during the crusade. also very cool influences on this album of brazilian jazz, which works surprisingly well). If you check out shaman, the band started by André after he left angra i recommend the live performance of their song fairy tale.

The saddest part about Angra is that Andre Mattos didn't get the recognition he deserved. Even tough he also participated in some Avantasia songs, he deserved much more. Angra has several musical references, including Iron Maiden, Helloween, Brazilian rhythms and classical music. The group is famous with several gold records in Japan, and has great fame in Europe and Latin America.
The band's style fluctuates between heavy, melodic and progressive metal, in addition to regional parts.
The band went through 3 major formations, André Matos (the one in the video) is part of the first formation, one of the best vocalists I've ever seen. In addition to ANGRA, he was part of Viper, Shaman (a band that you could react to their live show, you won't regret it), a solo band and participation in several groups such as AVANTASIA.
Maybe you can also recognize Kiko L. guitarist with the pink guitar, who recently left Megadeath.

I don't if I can explain how cool is to see a reaction from a "gringo" to a brazillian band in brazillian's point of view but we live in a country with so many problems in same time that we have so many talented musicians, and when we see a "gringo" reacting to someone that born in the same place than us it's so emotional. And don't be fool, Angra has fans all over the world, especially in Japan, they have a successful career, and one of the guitarrists plays in Megadeth in the moment but this proud feelling is something we always have. It's really cool how a metal band with a brazillian flavor can impress so many people. Take a look at his album Temple Of Shadows to see what they can do in terms of virtuosity. Great reaction!

The band was excellent. It ended due to the personalities and egos of the band members. In the 80s and 90s, we had a lot of creativity, a lot of excess quality, perhaps for this reason, lack of maturity and vision AT ALL, they didn't care and separated. The guys were really good together. They had everything to be recognized worldwide, but selfishness, arrogance and other reasons that were difficult to overcome, perhaps due to their young age, caused one of the best Brazilian bands to end. Today, the name Angra is used by some guys, but it will never be the same as the old formation. Not without our Missing Vocalist... Thank you André Matos. R.I.P. 😢 😔
