@@aaveey Nah, Luffy doesn't understand the context of most situations he's in. He fell asleep during Fishman Island when listening to Jinbe's explanation of what was going there. He has a decent battle IQ, though.

Asta would admit that he wasn't the brightest man out there and he could miss things at times when they weren't obvious.
This all plays into the class separation of his society. People in the poorest realms don't even know who the wizard king is let alone that there're 3 royal families representative of the kingdom.
This is why Asta never understood why people made such a fuss about Noelle not being able to control her magic. He doesn't judge people by their magic. He doesn't need labels, secrets or prejudices.
Deku was accepted on one of the most praised hero academies in the country. He would need to graduate and then join an agency. Until even being considered a rookie he'd have to solve the most to be even considered into the billboard charts. Deku is still 15-16
Eversince his first mission with Noelle and Magna, Asta has been collecting stars like crazy. To a point where he and Yuno are the only notable contenders for wizard king. Asta is already 18

And i think is good to remember that when Asta was fighting against Gauche and Marie (possesed by the elves) Asta came up with a great strategy.
He knew, he couldn't look at Marie's Eyes Magic in Gauche's Mirror Magic so he literally closed his eyes mid battle and just uses the ki to track Gauche and Marie presence to land a hit on them.

Asta and Goku both were able to use an attack that they saw only once on the first try too. Although with Asta, he already was using Ki for like about a year or two, so it was almost like second nature to him while Goku was considered a prodigy. Even then, doesn't take away the fact that both are more skilled and smart than people give them credit for.

  • @B3N_Youtube
    @B3N_Youtube Před 11 měsíci +25

“One can be smart, but smarts matter very little in a land of those with experience.”
I believe this to be the case since Deku maybe smart himself, he absolutely dose not have the experience or emotional strength to stack up against someone like Asta.
Asta over the 3 years of being a magic knight had learned a lot from people of different backgrounds, fighting styles, life styles, and more. During this time, Asta matured and grew smarter in other ways. At times his emotions got the better of him but he learned to control them. Deku has not. He is still a 1st year student (somehow) despite everything that has happened, Deku has made plenty of stupid decisions that could’ve royally screwed him over.
If there was a proper no holds fight between Deku and Asta, Deku’s gonna get folded because of the lack of power, speed, and proper battle intelligence. So aside from comparing the two, i really think Death Battle put a bad opinion in the Black Clover fandom.

    Deku has bad battle IQ
Lemme go through his fights to show how much he's used his brain
    1. Sludge monster: through his bag and risked his life, dumbest thing he's ever done he would have died if not for All might.
    2. UA enterance exam: He punched a big robot and broke his legs and arms, all might should have given Deku his powers sooner so he could've trained with it. Would've died if not for recovery girl. Dumb
    3. Deku vs Bakugo: Deku grabbed Bakugos arm and slammed him Smart. Then he did collateral damage. His smartest fight thus far. But still Dumb.
    4. Deku vs the League of Villains: He made a whirlpool and trapped people with Mineta. Pretty Smart thinking good on Deku. But then he tried to punch Shigaraki while a Nomu was around. Would've died if not for All might. Dumb
    5. Sports festival: He gathered up landmines with a piece of metal and then blew it up to win the race. This is stupid, if not for plot armour and anime logic he would've died. Dumb
    6. Cavalry Battle: not much strategy here. Meh
    7. Deku vs Shinso: got emotional and talked. Would've lost if not for OFA dumb.
    8. Deku vs Shoto, Smart battle play using his fingers, but he broke his body for life, Dumb
    9. Deku vs Gran Torino: he used his surroundings to activate full cowling, Smart.
    10. Deku vs Stain: Deku just punched Stain he didn't do much. He figured out how stains quirk worked but that didn't help. Meh
    11. Deku and Bakugo vs All Might: Deku strategy was literally hit him really hard. He took advantage of All Mights time limit to win this fight. Pure luck, Dumb.
    12. Deku vs Muscular: He literally won by Punching Really Really hard, not a lick of strategy, broke his body again, and that lead to Bakugo getting kidnapped, he should've run away he was fast enough for that. Dumb
    13. Provisional Licence exam: Deku Kicked really hard and ran away, Smart
    14. Deku vs disguised Toga, he lost a point because she was most agile and got pinned down. Dumb
    15. Deku, Uraraka and Tape dude against people: so Deku was a distraction and Uraraka and tape dude captured people. It's a decent plan, not super creative or Smart. But I'll give Deku some credit.
    16. Deku vs Bakugo 2: He just punches and kicks. No strategy. Meh
    17. 1A vs Mirio: Deku uses his brain to sniff out Mirios quirk, and loses. Meh
    18. Deku vs Overhaul, he uses pretty decent fight skills to almost beat Overhaul, Smart, no strategy tho. Then Eri jumps on his back and Deku wins by punching really really hard. Dumb
    19. Deku vs Gentle Criminal: Dekus Smartest and best fight of the entire series. Deku is a battle genius in this fight. Duke fights a street level criminal with a weird power but Deku manages to win using strategy.
Let's break this down Deku learns of Gentles plan and confronts him, he did some research and acts immediately he's strong enough to take him, smart. Gentle Criminal shows off his power and Deku is shocked but recovers and presues him, good. Deku shows off his new air force tech that he conveniently had on. Uses it to hit gentle.
Gentle goes to a construction location to throw off Deku. Gentle uses his powers and environment to beat deku, and eventually drops and beam on him trapping him.
Gentle runs away to the forest but Deku follows and uses Gentles powers against him to lock him down, genius, best IQ moment in the entire series for Deku.
Gentle then gets a power of love boost but Deku manages to beat him in the end. Good.
Greatest fight 5 smart points if there were more of this Deku would be a mega genius but it gets worse from here.
    20. Deku vs Suneater: he hesitates to hit him and loses. Dumb
    21. Class 1A vs 1B: Deku loses control of Black whip. Dumb but not his fault. He beats Shinso because Shinso is a worse fighter. Meh
    22. Deku vs Shigaraki: Deku uses Black Whip and Float to capture Shigaraki and keep him off the ground to stop his destruction. Pretty smart.
He also destorys his body again in the process. Dumb.
    23. Deku vs Muscular 2: Deku ties him up and punches him really really hard. That's it. Meh
    24. Deku vs Lady Nagant: finally some strategy. Lady Nagant shoots at Deku using her sniper arm. Deku has to figure out her Quirk and locate her. Deku uses Smoke screen (Which he only got for this one battle, like seriously this is his worse quirk wtf?) Overhaul is suicidal so Deku saves him by using his more useful quirk, and eventually locates Lady Nagant and wins. He used his brain again very Smart Deku.
    25. Deku vs Class 1A: he just overwhelmes them with his superior power and runs away, eventually losing because he's tired. Ima count this as dumb because he forgot to eat.
    So over all
    Smart: 8 + (5 gentle criminal)
    Meh: 6
    Dumb: 14
So Deku is Dumber more than he is smart.

Asta was always a genius it is just that his personality makes him look stupid.
    proof
He was able to utilize a type of power mostly by himself in most of the show despite being in a world called mana not an anti-mana world
His process ability is insane without even having mana or ki back when he was fighting Magna
He has shown to be quite adaptable no matter what the situation is like
He was able to utilize a devil's power beyond 100% without forcing the devil to lend his power to him casually and was successful in completely syncing with the devil.
He grabbed things very quick and was able to understand ki at a lower level and a high level too.
Asta is emotionally smart, it’s why he helps so many people like Noelle. He’s also a smart fighter, and frankly politically intelligent. He understands his place in the messed up cast system and seeks to change that.
He was able to become a swordmaster at a young age
Able to utilize a large amount of power with ease
What I can say is if Asta was born as royal or a noble with tremendous mana his growth rate would be much quicker than the average mage since he will easily manipulate mana because manipulating ki is much harder and unlocks mana much quicker and grown much quicker from there.

A lot of people doesn't mention this, but Asta managed to understand how ki works pretty quickly, and was implied by the show to be quite the prodigy when it comes to anything related to ki. During the fight in the cave agains Licht (Patry), he was able to use ki sensing when Yami just introduced it to him moments ago in the heat of battle. Yami even remarked how creepy it was that he learnt it so quickly. During the Land of the Sun arc, he also learned and mastered zetten pretty quickly as well.
In short, Asta is actually not that dumb at all.

Asta's fighting style relies more on his unpredictable nature, as well as the analytical skills he is shown to possess, during a fight ⚔. These analytical skills are also enhanced by his mastery of "Ki", which allows him to analyze his opponents through their breathing, emotions or even their mere presence.
Also, the thirteen-plus years of training he endured, along with his constant exposure to life-or-death situations. Makes him a very skilled warrior in battle, with the ability to defeat individuals with more experience in battle than even himself.
However, as far as all other parts of his IQ are concerned, he is still absolutely nothing smarter than people like Goku, Luffy, or even Naruto 😒.

Also, regarding your claims about Deku and his IQ in battle 🧠. You are not wrong, but you are not right here either 🤔. To begin with. The idea that it would have been better for Deku to have used kicks from the very beginning doesn't make a lot of sense 🦵.
Since he also broke his legs when he used 100% One For All during the U.A. Entrance Exam 😒. And even after mastering the Full Cowl technique, he still needed support equipment to be able to use One For All at percentages higher than 8%. As for the whole thing with Shinso, and his ability to brainwash his opponents 🧟. Although Ojiro had warned him not to respond to Shinso's verbal challenges, he still didn't know exactly how Shinso's Quirk worked.
Not knowing if the effect of Shinso's Quirk would be based on mere verbal responses. Or if there would have been other conditions regarding its activation. Besides, if you were to put Asta against Shinso, with him barely knowing anything about him. Given Asta's dynamic personality, it's unlikely that the result would have been any different than Deku's 🧟‍♂.
Deku's fighting style is more based on the analysis he makes of his opponents during a fight. As well as the well-thought-out calculations he comes up with, in order to be able to predict their next move 🤓.
However, as has been shown many times in his case, the fact that he tends to overanalyze almost everything around him is exactly why he sometimes ends up tripping over his own feet. Deku's much more developed intelligence, being the thing that hinders him the most when it comes to a fight.

i agree on everithing you said apart for 1 thing about asta, meanwhile i have to hardly disagree on like 90% of what you said about deku. for asta yeah he grew up in an orphanage but he still has a very more simplistic view of the world and how things works than yuno wich was also grew up there and even the kid with fire powers seemed to not be on asta level of thinking, yes asta is a very smat fighter but its true he isnt the brightest in everyday situation. about deku meanwhile its true that he is very emotional wich also is a problem that himself consider especially against shiggi but i disagree with the rest, his energi control as nothing that he could really figure out alone, he take the example of allmight wich was a prodigy with it and could use instantly the 100% so he didnt really know he could use the power divided by his body or he could use less power in percentage because lets be clear all might isnt that good of a teacher about ofa and gran torino didnt really know better, about he shinso fight its just that his emotions were too much for him and deku cant shut up XD, about the kicks yes its something he coulp think about it before but its not that he didnt think about it because he is stupid but its really a mental block, he was so blind following all might path that he didnt really think of the other ways, in fact after everithing we see the real peak of deku iq during season6 where he learn how to use 6 other quirks in tandem in weeks and he display crazy biq feat both against nagant and muscular, sorry for the long comment and love to you for the content.

    • @GMYSTERYICTNF
      @GMYSTERYICTNF Před 10 měsíci +1

I respectfully disagree, but lemme word my opinion.
So Deku is battle dumb. Like I made a comment going through all his fights for fun and dang he uses his brain for like 3 fights. By use his brain I mean does things that a normal person wouldn't think.
Deku slamming Bakugo in their first fight is shown as a big IQ play for some reason, and an average person can do that. Where's the smart?
But I'll praise Deku vs Gentle criminal all day long that's Dekus best fight in the series. He is a genius there. That fight makes Deku look brain dead in all his other fights.
And he pretty much is. Deku just hits really really hard for most of his fights. Deku vs Muscular or deku vs todaroki all his strategy is hit them really hard and break his body. He doesn't use peoples quirks against them or take advantage of his superior skills.
He does that in the Gentle Criminal fight which is why its top tier and he also does it in the Lady Nagant fight too.
Those fights are his best but the rest. No strategy, punch really hard that's about it.
People think deku is a genius because he has high grades and writes in his book alot. But that doesn't translate to the battle.
Like don't take my word for it
Go through his fights they're listed on the wiki
And just write down Dekus strategy for each fight and how effective it was.
He does like nothing for most of it. Like episode 2 he runs at the sludge monster throws his bag and starts trying to dig at the sludge monster.
That's dumb. He's an idiot. He didn't think and they state that. The bag throw did nothing, Bakugos quirk was going wild and Deku would've died if All Might wasn't there.
All might is dumb too. He just watched a dude risk his life and everyone elses and he thought yeah this is the guy to give the best quirk to. A guy who doesn't think, has no skill and endangers himself and others.
      Wtf? XD

    • @Koopa.2000
      @Koopa.2000 Před 10 měsíci +1

@@GMYSTERYICTNF i have to disagree respectfully too. In some case its partially true but it lacks context.
While we can agree that gentle and nagant are his best fight they arent the only good iq fights, against muscular the first time there was nothing really he could do to win because muscular was stronger and didnt harm himself like deku so he simply bulldoz trough the laiers of muscles as well as he could, in fact the second time that he was more relative he stayed on the distance against him and used the point where the tremor guy hit knowing how muscle works to finish it fast.
Against todoroki he tried to catch him lacking witouth make him realize that he was almost out of bond to make him fall and later he simply trued to help him psychologically more than win.
Against bakugo it was more a display of his reflex and hands more than iq until the last moment wich was indeed a big brain move because he used the emotions of bakugo to make him go to himself so he leaved the base where uraraka could use the homerun against lida always created thanks to deku aiming to the roof.on top of that how he copied aizawa scarf to try to block bakugo weapon, his hands.
Against the sludge villain yesh deku was arupid but that was a kid witouth power wich simply seen his friend dying and he tryed to save him, he was stupid? Absolutely but all might didnt give him his quirk because he tried to fight a villain witouth a quirk but because he put his life on danger to try to save even 1 person.
On top of that dont forget the time when he used the landmine to win the race, where he used uraraka and dark shadow in a optimal way to escape, where he used tsuyu and mineta to block all the villains and more.
Deku is a beast in iq its just that majority of his real battles againsy people that tryes to kill him are too much for everyone and himself, so there times when he has to bulldoze his way, deku doesnt have a constant gallery of iq display because he doesnt have a constant growth, compared to asta deku fighted the final villain on season 1. Sorry to say this buddy but you should analize better those fights.

Interesting way to think about it. People often overlook that but Yuno is technically the guy who over time gets amazing control over his powers. But in terms of technique, Asta is better coz he comes up with practically out-of-the-box ways that even Yuno can think of at times. Power-wise they are very close to each other as both usually get their power-ups almost at the same time.....Plus the fact that Yuno has like grt mana is kinda what people use to make him look great compared to Asta

Yuno overtime practiced with his magic, so in battle hes techniques are superior. Yuno isn't Asta he took the advantage over him by working on what he didn't have, magic. Yuno trained just as long as Asta.
Asta didn't have the privilege of being able to train with his powers, like he had no teachers and you can punch a thousand times but without proper form the strength means nothing. Like look at Zetten. Asta had the skills and the moment he learnt the technique his power got better.

It's not just "idolising All Might" he took inspiration fron various heroes. His fighting style still has influence from Gran Tarino and Bakugo. It wasn’t just "learning to kick". That's a massive oversimplification. It was adding his own twist to the influences he had taken. Claiming that the defense for it is just an excuse while also claiming cognative dissonance is massive hypocrisy on your part.

One of the major themes of the video is how Asta’s BIQ is downplayed while other characters get wanked.
No matter how you put it, Deku being blinded by following in All Might’s footsteps and that leading to him taking awhile to adapt his fighting style with something as basic as kicks is a knock on him. It’s nothing to discredit Deku, only to clarify the playing field we are actually working with.

You're objectively oversimplifying that and it's a poor example of your argument.
Yeah it's fair trying to show how Asta is downplayed while others get wanked, but you're just doing the same thing to Deku here, equally unfairly, thus, hypocrisy. The other 2 examples were fine to make that point (although I feel you were missing some context when claiming that Deku has poor understanding of his system. Quirks are varied and don't come with energy. It's more of a lack of understanding of his own quirk which is fair since he never had one.)

@@kanemccarthy1979 I just told you that I wasn’t using it to say that Deku had poor battle IQ, yet you are saying that I’m doing that.
I’m not over simplifying it. Deku was hindering his own fighting style because of his fanboyism. Thats an anti-feat to his battle IQ.
I’ve stated both in video and in comments that Deku has good battle IQ so stop saying that. Just because I oversimplified it doesn’t mean I’m wrong. The video is about Asta, I’m not going to sugarcoat context where things are not needed for Deku.
If my video were all about Deku having poor battle IQ, you’d have a point, because obviously context shows he has good battle IQ. Just because the full context of an anti-feat makes it more forgivable, doesn’t excuse that it’s an anti-feat.

@@Br0ku poor wording on my part but the point is the same. You're downplaying Deku by doing that. And again, you continue to misrepresent it when you're just wrong on that point. Deku wasn't blinded by fanboyism. You state as a point in favour of his BIQ that due to his quirklessness he analyses other heroes first before considering his own strength. This is actually a point in favour of his BIQ by further adding to his own strengths in spite of what he's used to.
Bottom line you are misrepresenting Deku there and it's hypocritical to unfairly downplay him in a video about how Asta is unfairly downplayed, no matter how you slice it.

      I'm not unfairly downplaying him.
Deku says that he was hard-focusing on his fists because that's how All Might fought.
Deku: "It's so simple I never even realized..." after first using Shoot Style.
Deku himself recognizes that its simple.

If people, REALLY say, that Asta, has DUMB Battle IQ, they have NO IDEA, of how many times he has actually surpassed the skill lvl the opponents THOUGHT he had. Is he the smartest character in Shonen? Not by a long shot 😅. But, the fact that he has ROUTINELY, won against a seemingly, insurmountable foe, is undeniable, and it shows that HE CAN GROW. He can IMPROVE.
